Omnibus wishlist thread:

Why does DC drag its feet on printing Omnibis? When are we going to get some omnibi's for Moore's Swamp Thing, Morrison's Batman, and Johns' Superman?
>>
>>81215425
How much money do they get from omnis? Like, marvel puts out more omnis than DC, right?
>>
>>81215480
Marvel puts out omnis for everything it seems like.
>>
I'm surprised they haven't do this run yet given they have done Johns Flash, JSA, Teen Titans, and GL already.
>>
>>81215480
Marvel started the omnibus format so it's not surprising they release more

Batman + the first Anarky mini by Norm Breyfogle could probably be collected in two omnis

I'd like to see the 80's Amethyst Princess of Gemworld collected in full
>>
Omnis are unwieldy as fuck. I hate them.
>>
>>81217377
This not universally true, only some are unwieldy. I think happens around 900 pages.

I still don't understand why they did a series where color is important in a black and white format and then stopped on a cliffhanger
>>
>>81217402
Yeah ones like Colossal Conan, Big Damn Sin City, Invisibles, and Doom Patrol are crazy.
>>
>>81216880
Yeah, no kidding. His Superman run was fucking great too.
>>
>>81217638
I have Doom Patrol, it's not that bad.
>>
just give me some plastic man trades for gods sake, jack cole blowing his brains out and baker leaving on bad terms are the only reasons I can see with them refusing to reprint their runs
>>
Apparently a Flash by Manapul/Buccellato omnibus is happening which is cool.

http://www.amazon.com/Flash-Francis-Manapul-Buccellato-Omnibus/dp/1401261035
>>
>>81217760
I would guess they're worried about demand there
>>
>>81217860
They don't deserve it.
>>
>>81217921
They gave a deluxe edition to solo which sold like 3k per issue. Plastic Man is much more marketable and well known than a artist driven series nobody read.
>>
>>81217964
Hey fuck you, I read and loved Solo.
>>
i just want the fourth world omnibus to be reprinted. i have books 1, 3, and 4 but 2 is never available at a reasonable price

like they just teased darkseid in bvs, why are they dragging their feet about this

WHY IS THERE NO RE-PRINT OF FUCKING THE QUESTION
>>
>>81218578
Because God is dead.
>>
>>81218578
They're reprinting Gates/Igle Supergirl apparently because of TV casuals. He needs a HBO show I guess.
>>
>>81217860
Huh, is this one of the first omnibuses of the New 52?
>>
I know how you feel dude

Like shit, I want to read every single Batman comic, annual, team up, spin off etc from the beginning to now

But it's something that will never happen and will never be possible
>>
>>81218707
I think they might be doing Johns Aquaman too? Some of the others are deluxes though (Lemire GA, Dial H, Multiversity).
>>
>>81218707
No, I think the first was a collection collecting all the New 52 #1s.
>>
>>81215480

Marvel puts out more Omnis but they are really slow with the trades.
>>
>>81215425
DC NEEDS TO REPRINT KIRBY MATERIAL

Fucking hell. If I want to read Kamandi or New Gods I'd have to piss my money because they're out of print.
>>
>>81218794
There's not really enough material for a Johns' Aquaman Omnibus. Should get a deluxe though, Morison's Action should get a deluxe too.
>>
The Question

I ain't gonna pay almost 100$ for the FIRST FUCKING VOLUME
>>
>>81218862
NEVER
EVER
at least OMAC is easy to find
>>
>>81218862
>>81219223
bully Didio on twitter and maybe he'll tell the collections people to do it, he loves Kirby shit
>>
>>81215480
Marvel puts out Omnis of literally anything.
>>
>>81218700
There was a rumor that he'd already on Arrow around season 3 and this was why I wanted it to be true
>>
>>81218707
There have been these.

http://www.amazon.com/Futures-End-Years-Omnibus-Comics/dp/1401251293

http://www.amazon.com/DC-Comics-The-New-52/dp/1401234518
>>
>>81218707
Of an actual run on a single book yeah, they have 4 out collecting their one month specials like villains month or the zero issues.
>>
>>81219242
DC needs to step their shit up.
>>
Motherfuckers could stand to print more absolutes too.
I hope the dc movies give us some reprints and new stuff down the line.
>>
>>81217638
Invisibles Deluxe's are the way to go. I hope they do it for Doom Patrol.

Colossal Conan and BDSS are very well put together, if you read them on a table or something they're not bad.
>>
>>81219242
And yet they won't reprint the one fucking omni I want.
>>
>>81218862
Maybe they'll do it when the JL movie comes out since it's got New Gods shit in it.
>>
>>81215425

Probably because DC's omnibus program is more selective and they probably do them mostly by demand plus some occasional obscure stuff like Kirby's less known DC stuff that has name value but wouldn't necessarily sell as a trade. Marvel on the other hand seems to just churn out stuff for the hell of it. Like, wtf is the point of collecting #1s from different decades, when most of the stuff isn't even in print? New52 #1 omnibus at least makes sense as a promotional tool.
>>
>>81219488
Marvel sucks at the trade game, though
>>
Would like to point out that the last time I checked, it was cheaper to buy the volumes of 52 than the omni
>>
>>81215425
Fucking Swamp Thing.

I hope Prophet and Luther Strode get good ones as they're both ending soon. Hope Hellboy in Hell gets the Library treatment and that we can get rolling on the BPRD Hell on Earth omnibuses by 2017.
>>
>>81219535
Absolute Batman Year One in June
>>
>>81219828
Holy shit, that sucker is expensive. Even for an Absolute. Yeesh.
>>
>>81220037
>original coloring
>published coloring on paper meant to emulate the original issues
>full script and layouts
It's a pretty rad absolute, to be fair
>>
does anyone have the simonson orion omnibus? is it any good in terms of both physical quality and story quality?

>>81219804
the volumes are better because you get the notes pages
>>
>>81220140

Apparently they took all the back ups and put them at the back of the collection, rather than keep them at the end of every issue. Which is incredibly stupid.
>>
>>81221302
is that in the old one or the new 2015 one? the new one has a lower page count
>>
>>81217760
They did put out Plastic Man archive editions so they don't have a problem with reprinting his run.
>>
I'm still surprised that DC hasn't made an Alan Moore Swamp Thing omni. You'd think they would cash in on that like they do with his other work.
>>81221444
The Orion omnibus was released in 2015?
>>
>>81220037
>Being poor
You shouldn't even be looking at absolutes until you own it in every other format out first.
I wish they'd hurry with the Superman/Batman ones and give me a COIE reprint.
>>
still waiting for promethea immateria edition
god damnit it's been 3 years
>>
>>81220140
simonson was pretty upset about it
>>
DC has been pumping out those Golden Age and Silver Age omnis lately, which is great. Archives were way too expensive and slow to release.

They're also starting to pay attention to filling in some notable gaps of out of print stuff like Starman, 52, Sandman Mystery Theater etc. It's taking eternity but they're listening.
>>
>>81221665
>COIE reprint
Definitely. Or a omni or at least a deluxe companion book that has many of the tie in issues and either the lead in or aftermath of it. Would definitely be incentive to double dip (getting it originally for $5 doesn't hurt, either).

I'd also take a JLA/Avengers reprint because I'd love to get a copy of that for a friend or 2 (already have my own).

Mayday when.
>>
>>81215425
I just want them to continue with more volumes of Showcase Presents, hasn't been a new volume since Blue Beetle volume 1 back in the beginning of 2015

also Marvel needs to revive the Essential Marvel line, seriously these several hundred page B&W volumes are in my opinion the best way to sell older comics in both a good quantity and at a affordable price

pic not my collection, but I'd love to eventually have one like it(currently the only ones I've got are the first two volumes for Batman, the first Judge Dredd collection, and a TMNT collection that Mirage published a couple years before IDW got the comics rights to the Turtles)
>>
>>81219223
Yes, I love OMAC and I'm glad I bought it, but that was such a disappointing spurt of a run by the end.
At least Kirby put in effort for his burning off the contract work until the last issue.

>>81219238
I'm stupid and only bothered Johns a few times.
>>
I'm more a DC man than Marvel but I have to say that Marvel kill DC when it comes to omnibus editions.

From the quality and the stitching to what they collect.
>>
>>81215425
Hey, I'm just surprised they're starting on a Bronze Age Batman Omnibus.
>>
>>81218079
I did too but nobody outside of hardcore comic art fans care about it
>>
>>81221444
I don't know, but good luck trying to figure out which back-ups go to which issue. I stupidly though each issue had its own back-up, so it wouldn't be a problem to just read an issue then flip to its back-up in numerical order and I was very, very wrong.

Whoever was in charge of making this omni seriously should have been fired. It's a fucking mess. And there's no table of contents so you have no idea which back-ups go to which issues. I was reading the back-ups out of order and actually ended up spoiling issues I hadn't even fucking read yet.
>>
>>81218850
What? No, Marvel is fast with trades even though they're expensive. DC is just slow releasing trades and collected editions in general.

The fastest is of course, Image
>>
DC Omnis are shit. I have the GL by Johns one. I'm halfway through and it is already falling apart.
>>
I'm hoping Grayson eventually gets an omni, it may be a pipe dream though
>>

Not a omni but I want a wasteland collection
>>
>>81225853
a deluxe probably
>>
>>81221665
>>81222318
They just put out a deluxe COIE for the anniversary
>>
>>81225828
That one is fucking gigantic though so I'd sorta expect that at some point. The Animal Man one I bought has been fairly good to me.
>>
>>81225930
I have a few deluxe trade and they're not worth it, I'll be disappointed if that's all it gets
>>
I would kill for a Justice League International omnibus and Absolute Swamp Thing
>>
>>81221665
I'm not poor, I own several absolutes and omnis, but $120 for Year One is fairly steep.
>>
I'd love an Absolute for Omega Men, especially with notes on the page layout, maybe pointing out how the book was laid out each issue.
>>
>>81229307
The new one or the old one? Because the new one's only going to be 12 issues long.
>>
>>81229307
>>81229528
Disregard, I misread that, I thought you wanted an Omnibus, not an Absolute.
>>
>>81227064
JLI and Morrison's JLA.
>>
I should get that reprint of the Fantagraphics Usagi Yojimbo - I believe it's pretty cheap on Wordery.

Maggin/Bates Superman will never get a decent reprint.
>>
>>81222495
MC-2 omni
I neeeeeed
>>
Is there an omnibus for when Dematteis did Spider-Man? I loved it.
>>
>>81218862
>tfw someone storytimed some of Kirby's new gods one time
>love it, instantly drawn into the world
>become interested
>omnis are expensive as shit
I heard the printing quality was terrible too
>>
>>81220169
Their notes were interesting, the way they thought of making Skeets Mr. Mind was amusing.
>>
>>81233542
They're printed on newsprint and not recolored, it's printed perfectly. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if they're taking so long to reprint it because they're recoloring it

>>

nice anime, weeb.

Aw ok, don't know why someone said it was bad. I guess I'll just save up when I can and get it.
