I've always liked the unused concept art for the Phoenix Wright games. You can really see the artist trying to find the theme they want to go with for that character. It's great when you can see an element pop up and then it starts repeating among them.

I actually want to buy the art book because of that. All Disney films have had extensive rewrites and go through several different versions, but usually they show very little from those versions and barely address them in the art books. All I know is (from reading stuff in /co/, internet, and artbook) Disney wanted to adapt it since the 50s, but it kept getting shoved at the back. Glen Keane really wanted it to be told as a straight Disney fairy tale, with a Rembrandt painting style. Later on someone wanted it to be satirical comedy, maybe like Shrek, and Glen said he just can't work on it if it's like that. It was close on becoming a satire comedy, with Jack Black voicing the male lead and Kristin Chenoweth as Rapunzel. It got scrapped, thankfully. Glen had to resign as a director due to health issues, but the movie got new direction later on and Glen came back as animating director and producer. Unfortunately, the Paperman tech which was supposed to be for Tangled was unfinished at that time/too costly.
