Let's say Disney wants to bring back the old concept in some way:
How would you like them to do it?
T.V. show, official comics, another movie, a game, etc
>>81159873
I think the rabbit and fox should FUCK
>>81159734
Is there a more perfect couple?
>>81159873
I feel like, while the original concept is decent and a bit edgy, it's more to the nose on the subject
>>81159873
If they did another movie it would probably confuse kids and parents but a game would probably work.
>>81159922
Where were you when Zootopia saved alcoholism?
>>81159922
They should bring back the cute little arctic foxes that massage you with their footpaws.
>>81159873
What old concept?
>>81159922
mr big and mayor lionheart
Didn't they have a good chuck of the original movie produced before they changed direction?
I hope they put those test screenings on the DVD release, that would make it a must buy for me.
>>81159999
Do people really not know at this point?
Also nice quints.
Is there any other active places to discuss Zootopia? I want to discuss the Nick x Judy ship with fellow degenerates till I explode from so much hnnggg

They've created a world with incredible story potential.
>>81159873
I was going to go with a graphic novel, but fuck. A multi-episode Telltale point-and-click adventure game would rock. Around 5-10 eps.

Yes, there is.

I love his otters, but the rest of his stuff is shit.
>>81160087
I think that's exactly what's going to happen with that deleted scene (before dating) People are swearing that the deleted scene is going to confirm some kind of relationship but I'm almost sure it's just some scene before the events of the movie's end where Judy introduces Nick to the buns. Now if it takes place after the movie..
Oh lawdy. They're totally dating.

> Byron had imagined that Nick was the main character and this was a story about a predator living in an animal world that looked badly on predators. The prey were kind of the more favored animals in the city, and he had a really bad outlook on the city. The city was very oppressive and they went to lengths to try to control the predators. They had to wear these collars that would give them a shock if they had old instinctual urges like they got mad or excited.
>So we were presenting a world that was very dystopian right from the top and it didn’t feel like a place where we wanted to be. We instead wanted Nick to just get out of the city.
>>81160176
I liked when he did reindeer that one time.

I want the bunny and the fox to get together in a sequel. If it turned out they got together at the end of this movie, I'd feel cheated out of cute relationship stuff.
>No confessing to one another
>No first kiss
>No Nick dropping his smug shield to tell her how he feels
Granted I don't particularly want it to be too much of a thing in a sequel, but more than what we got at least.

Would Judy and Nick try to keep their relationship secret, or yell it out for the world to know?
Nick gets accused of a crime he didn't commit, and Judy is on the run after him. He travels to another country to get away, and she has to work with interpol to extradite him. While on the run, he is helped by Finnick, Duke Weaselton, Flash who is his getaway driver... And a new fox character voiced by Lana Parilla. Judy has to team up with interpol, and she gets teamed up with a suave Arctic hare voiced by Will Arnett.
>>81160164

>>81160453
Secret, fraternization between officers is strictly forbidden. But everyone in the department knows they're fucking.
Nick knows everyone knows. Judy thinks that ruse is still up.
>>81160072
At first, this was about Jack Savage, a bunny detective(?) in the South Pacific. They immediately scrapped this. They also scrapped the name Jack because of the recent and upcoming movies regarding Jack and the Beanstalk.
Next was Sun City, I think, and was about a fox named Nick Wilde living in a "perfect" city, but perfect only in name. In a lot of concept art, you will see Nick with his dad (a tailor), him wearing some detective/spy suit, etc.
In a version closest to what we have now, Nick is the owner of a secret amusement park where predators can be "wild". Preds would wear shock collars on their necks and tags on their ears. Something happens in Nick's amusement park, he gets framed, Judy arrests him, he escapes, Judy pursues him, they ultimately work together and understand each other, etc.
>>81160453
>>81160507
Exactly, they'd be pretty adult about it. Maybe try to keep it a bit lower-key at work.

>>81160536
I really like the collar idea, the rest is meh.

All predators being forced to wear collars (or muzzles) before the predator civil rights movement in the 60's.

After consulting Pixar, Howard and Moore (the directors), flipped the protagonists.
>I ask Howard if there a moment in the film’s development where it all came together. “Yes, when we flipped the film’s protagonist a year and a half ago,” he replies. “We took what we had shot so far to Pixar to let a fresh audience take a look at it. We didn’t set them up at all, just asked them to watch and be blunt. [WALL-E director Andrew] Stanton said, ‘You’re introducing the film thru Nick’s eyes. He’s a cynic who doesn’t like the city, therefore I can’t root for the city; I want Nick to escape from the city rather than see it healed.’”
>Stanton suggested a radical change. “Let’s take a chance just for a moment to see what happens if we flip the main characters and put the more idealistic Judy in the driver’s seat so the audience learns about Zootopia through her more optimistic eyes, then bring in Nick’s cynicism and challenge to her philosophy later.”
>“That really did the trick,” notes Howard. “It was kind of a chiropractic adjustment: the pieces are there; you just have to kind of go snap! then everything starts to flow. Okay, we figured out the problem -- now we have to tell the crew things they’ve been working on for years are no longer in the movie. It was a big task for them to try something new; their eyes started to twitch…”
Also
>One inspiration for Nick's name is from Nick Charles in The Thin Man, and the dynamic or banter of Judy and Nick was also kind of inspired by Nick and Nora from the same movie.
>As for Judy's name, it came from Cary Grant's lines in Only Angels Have Wings where Grant says "Hello, Judy. Come on, Judy. Now, Judy." (the line, for some reason, morphed into "Judy, Judy, Judy").
>Rich Moore loves Double Indemnity and Maltese Falcon
>Byron Howard loves The Third Man
>both of them like Chinatown and LA Confidential
>the lighting in the asylum is inspired by these noir films

>>81160635
Both Judy and Nick are pretty hot, but they are only FOR EACH OTHER.

>>81160569
Never minded it that much myself.
If anything the style is just a bit dated and kinda boring.
The kinda style where you see one pic and you've basically seen the rest of them.
Still, at least he bothered to learn proper anatomy before stagnating, unlike many others out there.

>>81160756
Meh.. it's nothing new. Pixars vaults are practically overflowing with cut footage. Take 'Brave' for example, 95% of the nearly complete movie was scrapped and put into storage and completely new ones made and what we see today.
I would kill to see all the stuff not used in all the animated movies made.
>>81160756

>We designed and built this place inside and out - ultimately it got cut out of the movie. The story develops very organically and the majority of the designs doesn't make it onto the screen. But as long as the story gets better every time it is not as frustrating as it sounds.
They're probably used to it.

It doesn't.
>>81160814I'd ask a drawfag for lewds of him and Judy, but I'm sure I'd get lynched for it.
>>81160892
This. I'm still surprised that a lot of people here are shocked that a lot of content prior to the final version gets cut. It happens to a lot of animated movies. People who work in this industry are used to it.
For me, my biggest regret is not having Tangled in the Rembrandt style they wanted and not using the Paperman tech.
A slimy character fur sure.

I think of the scrapped concept stuff, my fave is the Bunnyburrow stuff. Seeing them represented as this mass of homogeneous grinning faces really adds weight to why Judy resents being called cute and struggles to stand out.
The pneumatic tubes wouldn't have made as much sense in the current version, though, since they'd have email and wireless communication, making the tubes obsolete.

>"Kingdom of the Sun was such a heart-breaking experience for me. I put four years of my heart and energy into that one. Though I may have seemed calm for the camera (as I always tried to be for my crew) inside it was a chaotic struggle resulting in annihilation. I was creating an "epic" picture mixing elements of adventure, comedy, romance and mysticism. The head of Disney Features at the time was afraid that we were doing, in his opinion, too many films in the same vein. He was also uncomfortable with the spiritual and cultural (Inca) aspects of it. Hence, he decided to make it a simple slapstick comedy. They kept just enough of my elements (characters and such) that I can never produce my original vision or story elsewhere. Would it have worked out if we had had more time? I would hope so, but one can never know these things."

Did Nick continue to call Judy "Carrots" up until the end of the film? I thought it was cute as fuck how at the start he used it as an insult to her and by the end it's turned into a cute pet name. When was the last time in the film (chronologically) did he use it? I actually can't remember. I don't think he ever once used it when they were both already on the ZPD together.

Fixed the order. Just getting the message across. I dont edit images.
I feel like Zootopia is a generic movie, but at the same time it doesn't feel like one.

It wasn't a racial slur, what the fuck

you have excellent taste.

Judy can most certainly protect herself, or Nick, I'm just saying that I enjoy the thought that for Nick it's all about protecting others. Mostly from the whole Junior Ranger's stuff. Nick sees someone else being ganged up on in the same way, and his instinct is to step in, like we see him do with Judy against Bogo.
I just get the sense that if Nick was a P.I. character he'd be the kind of guy to accept alternate payments. People paying him in produce and so on. He'd be the guy who would defend the underdog.

It's more like someone calling you "watermelon" than a racial slur.
>>81162202
i was hoping it was more huggable stuffed sized
>>81162139No titties?Do you have a gallery where I can look for updates?
You're one of the only artists that actually draws Judy instead of just an anthro bunny.
Turk128 has the perfect style for Judy porn, but he only did one drawing and it was mediocre.

I never got to thank the anon that posted this image about 24 hours ago in another thread, explaining why everyone kept referring to Wilde Times Theme Park.
Thank you mr. Anomymoose, wherever you are.

Why?

The carrots thing was about how her parents are carrot farmers, not that she likes carrots
What did you dislike most about the film?
I thought the Shakira song was absolute trash. Such a shame that they used it during the train scene. It was so visually impressive, but then I started to focus in on the song and I was trying not to laugh at how terrible it is.
Also
>Judy immediately characterized as someone who never ever gives up.
>Gives up just to have the obligatory buddy split cliche.
Laaaaaaame.
Still, the movie was great, can't wait to see it a second time.

because world hates you.
>>81162408
She gave up after the split up tho
>>81162408
Yeah, definitely the Shriekira tie-in
Also the movie is way too short
>>81162408
I didn't like the song the first time either, but it grew on me somehow, it's pretty fucking catchy m8, and I don't even listen to that type of music.
I didn't like the speech scene much where Judy fucks everything up, it felt a bit forced just to start the drama since a lot of shit felt out of character for her to say
>>81162086
Holy shit

oh FFS.

It takes generic concepts (buddy cop, anthropomorphic animal fiction) and utilizes them purposefully. The funny differences between the two leads in buddy cop films often guides the drama in a predictable direction: they aren't going to get along, but then they find out that two heads are better than one and that they have synergy they didn't see before. In this one they see that they work well together but what drives them apart is the main character's "racism." The character we're supposed to like and identify with. This flaw is so hard to handle well in PG territory but the film does it because of the use of anthropomorphic animal fiction.
Rather than having a lead in the right from the start, Judy goes into Zootopia wanting to "make the world a better place" but makes the world worse through sheer ignorance (even after accomplishing her goals), before making it better, then changes her tune to "the best way to make the world a better place is to be a better person." That in itself isn't generic but added to it it's also executed very well.
Even the phrase "anyone can be anything" takes on a more ominous tone when you find out who the real villain is.

I dislike how short and rushed the ending was. It only took like five minutes for bellwether to be revealed, foiled, and then arrested.
>>81162326
I dont have any FA/inkbun/DA.I have tumblr though, but its purpose is more like a place where I dump my art than a blog.

I do plan to draw more Judy/Bellwether/Nick though but we will see.
>>81162326
Its a sketch I've drawn earlier in where Nick and Judy would be sent by Lt. Fox to North Kore... I meant Flower Hill to spy on them squirrels and shit.
>>81162408
The pacing and that length of the movie felt to quick
but thats to be expected from Disney
>>81162433
No cliche split-up is complete without our hero returning home in defeat for a short while, only to find the answer they were looking for after taking a step back from their work. Come on, anon.
>>81162086
Thats pretty good.

end of dump.
