What went wrong?

Too much live action not enough bugs and daffy, the movie should have been a road trip movie with just bugs and daffy

JUST

They followed up a movie with an all time great soundtrack and starring Michael Fucking Jordan at the height of his worldwide godhood with Brendan Fraser. That's what went wrong.
>>
>>81067695
Brendan's carreer.
>>
>>81067695
I found the references delightful and more entertaining than Space Jam.

But they weren't even to make it a cohesive story, more just a line of skits.

Also, Steve Martin and his evil plan were shit. I mean, I get how people find Steve Martin funny, but I never understood it personally. I just find the man generally unfunny, though I do not know why.

And, speaking of Space Jam, I never understood why BIll Murray was in that.

Alimony
>>
>>81067695
The fact that this film bombing is what led to Loonatics being made.
>>
>>81067695
The human cast. Combining live action and animation was no longer any kind of an interesting gimmick by the time this film got made, and the human stars weren't popular even in the sense that Michael Jordan was popular.

The idea that these characters need human stars to carry them may or may not be true, but it sure isn't true when the stars are people like Jenna Elfman.
>>
I thought the video game was pretty good.

>I never understood why BIll Murray was in that.

"Woah woah woah! I didn't know Dan Aykroyd was in this picture!"

I was gonna say "nothing", but this beats any other answer.

Dat one chick on the background >>81067695 was pretty hot, though, forgot her name right now

I actually really liked this one. This was back when Brendan Fraser was enjoyable to watch.

Also, Timothy Dalton is based

Live action. That's what went wrong.

Heather Locklear?

Trying to spin a 90 minute story out of characters who are built for 6 minute gag cartoons is... possible, but it's not something anyone has ever managed to figure out.
>>
>>81067695
No idea but I can't complain. I enjoyed it as a kid.

I will admit though, the ending was really confusing.
>>
This movie was originally going to be a sequel to Space Jam titled Spy Jam and it would've been about Bugs and Daffy teaming up with Jackie Chan. I'm guessing either Jackie Chan didn't want to do it or he was too expensive so they switched him out with Brendan Fraser.

There were some good ideas in this movie and all of the Looney Tunes themselves were handled very well. The entire sequence with Elmer chasing Bugs and Daffy through Le Louvre was brilliant.

The biggest problem the movie had was its live actors and how the plot was focused solely around them. Bugs and Daffy have nothing to do with the story of this movie. They're pretty much just tagging along in Brendan Fraser's adventure because they have nothing better to do.
>>
>>81067695
Steve Martin's character sucked ass.

also too much 4th wall breaking, them acknowledging it was a movie from start to end doesn't really feel too engaging.

The best parts literally were Brendan and anytime the characters were there, like Shaggy and Scooby talking to Matthew Lillard .

It's because Bill Murray turned down doing Eddie Valiant in Roger Rabbit and regretted it ever since, so when a project like it came up, he jumped at the call.

One anon convinced me it was a masterpiece, arguably the best film of the past 20 years

Remember that time before Brendan Frasier died. man i miss those times.
>>
>>81080150
For an incredibly shitty movie, it had some pretty good special effects for it's time. Not to mention the combination of stopmotion and live action was unique. Too bad a film that combines stop motion and live action will never be made by a studio again.
>>
>>81080150
Looking at it and watching a few moments of it internally scared the shit out of me as a little kid. It doesn't anymore but I still feel a little scared from remembering being scared. It's even more scary how like $80,000,000 was spent to make this garbage and it only made like $8,000,000.
>>
>>81080121
Or the quality of animation. They cheaped out just like with Space Jam.

not enough care for the material

it's definitely one of the biggest guilty pleasure movies. also its not that bad for a early 2000's film better than most shit thats been made recently

also Dat.Rose McGowan

>>81080348
alot of the monsters freaked me out too (That one dude with the big head and arms with tiny body and the pigeons with the human heads. FUCK!) and I was like 15 when it was released whomever was doing the monster makeup for that film was going for pure nightmare fuel.

Jenna Elfman had the charisma of a cardboard box. Otherwise the human actors were fine since they knew exactly what they were doing and chewed the scenery like crazy.

The script just seemed convoluted. Joe Dante had cool ideas like the gallery chase and the entire Sci-Fi lab fights section was hilarious, but it was all disjointed as fuck and reeked of studio interference fearing that the audience "Wouldn't get it".

Holy shit, that would keep me awake at night. Call dad and apologize. Take him to see a fucking good movie. The universe thirsts for balance.

>Shaggy and Scooby talking to Matthew Lillard

That scene alone is better than all of Space Jam.
>>
I thought this was a decent film.
>>
>>81067695
Nothing. It's a good movie.
>>
Fun Fact: In the early 90s, Joe Dante pitched a Chuck Jones biofilm focused around the early days of Warner Bros and Termite Terrace. WB rejected it because they were more interested in rebranding the characters for the hip 90s then celebrating the past and that nobody would watch a drama-comedy about animators. So instead we got Space Jam.
>>
>>81067695

Didn't have enough nostalgia fagging as much as Space Jam despite being the better movie.
>>
>Enjoyed it when I first watched it but haven't seen any of it since then and have forgotten a lot of it
>Scared to watch it agent lest I hate my younger self even more
>>
>>81084369
Pretty much. Both movies sucked though. Space Jam came out at the time when 90s kids weren't old enough to realize how fucking bad it is, while Back in Action came out too late for that.

How do you feel about Christopher Lee and Peter O'Toole having been considered for Judge Doom before they got Lloyd?
>>
>>81081419
>Their being is changed by the painting they're in.
That was pretty good.
>>
>>81085366
At first they wanted to add Lola to the cast, but Joe Dante didn't let them.
>>
>>81067695
It had references to a lot of things except Looney Tunes.
Fucking Shaggy has a speaking cameo along with the guy that played him in the live action movie.
>>
>>81085954
Christopher Lee could've been cool and dark but he doesn't have that unique voice that Loyd has.

>>81081361
