It has plenty of positives, scale being one of them, there's quite a lot going and it takes place over a lengthy period of time, some good performances and the final confrontation with the goblin
Sure Toby Maguire was a weak fuck and goblin costume was shit, some cringey dialogue/scenes but it's trying

But I reject the idea that the X-Men movies are any better just because they have less quipping.
And a handful of them are genuinely solid, like Winter Soldier.
The only X-Men-related movie that's good overall is Deadpool, which only makes me worried that FOX is gonna stick their dicks in it and ruin the next one.
