Every bad review I've read so far was negative towards it because it was too serious. Richard Roeper loved it though, he's the only movie reviewer I know by name, so I'll take his word for it rather than some nancy no name who's butthurt because it isn't avengers

I'll probably end up enjoying it. I thought Man of Steel's shit parts were the dialogue and bad scenes (like pa kent tornado). But still enoyed stuff like Smallville, Zod fight, his first flight and some other scenes. Not an extraordinary movie, but still worth a watch.

Most of the top critics negative reviews are that it's packed, has no jokes and has too much cgi fighting. I like Snyder's action scenes and I want to see the other DC heroes so I don't think it will bother me much. I don't care about no jokes as well.

It's weird because the biggest thing I heard coming out of the movie was "it's better than man of steel", it just turns out critics are being bigger cunts now that their opinions weren't taken to heart with Man of Steel, and now they're doubling down on it because DC continued with their darker tone.
>>
>>81017395
Maybe they just don't want to risk wasting 20 bucks going to the cinema for a movie with bad reviews?

They may still want to watch it later when it's out on Netflix or whatever.
>>
I've accepted that it won't blow me away like I expected a few months ago, but I am still positive. I unironically like Green Lantern, and I think MoS was decent enough in the end, so the RT score doesn't scare me too much.
>>
>>81016803

I feel bad for my DC bros. I wanted fun BvS vs Civil War banter, knowing BvS will be inferior, but at least somewhat competitive. How can DC bros even fight back now?

>>
>>81017642
Oh sure but when a Marvel movie get low scores they're 100% accurate
>>
>>81017582
Yes, that's right. But executives are probably already thinking of the diminishing returns the "DC Expanded Universe" franchise will suffer.

You can bet "Cyborg" is already in the can, for starters. "Shazam" could be next if the suits think he is too much like Supes and "people don't like Superman, that's why our Batman film was bad received"
>>

Exactly! Snyder is the best director the cape genre has ever seen. They won't be laughing when BvS hits $3 billion in gross. Fucking subhumans. I don't blame them. They probably don't have the intellect to appreciate a Snyder film. Fortunately the masses do.

I'm honestly surprised that he got the director gig for Man of Steel, and I say that as someone who liked the film.

His films don't get strong critical receptions and for the material they're adaptation see mediocre to weak returns. After the reception Man of Steel got, I have to wonder if he's either related to someone high at WB, gives great blowjobs or if he just signed a really favourable contract.

> Guillermo del Toro, with whom Goyer worked on Blade II, turned down the director's position on the reboot because of his commitment on a film adaptation of At the Mountains of Madness,[64] while Robert Zemeckis was also approached.[65] Ben Affleck, Darren Aronofsky, Duncan Jones, Jonathan Liebesman, Matt Reeves, and Tony Scott were considered as potential directors,[66] before Zack Snyder was hired in October 2010.[67]

Ok I've made it past denial, anger, bargaining, and depression. I've reached the acceptance that DC will always have low reviews.
If they make good money and are able to keep putting out big budget movies, I'll be satisfied.

I really don't believe the reviews at all

The last two times I snuck into marvel movies(i refuse to give them my money), dudes were literally chanting "fuck DC" at the beginning, and at the end of the movies. What the absolute fuck
And this was in NYC, so I wouldn't put it past being the work of diehard marveldrones, that and the fact that most reviewers are owned by disney and are literal corporate shills

I was really indifferent to the movie at first, but after this bullshit I'm actually hype and going to see it with a bunch of friends friday

>We're really just going there to see the visuals.

This "Snyder does great visuals" thing is a load of shit honestly. His movies have a distinctive hyper-produced look but he rarely shoots anything beautiful or interesting. Actually Man of Steel was visually pretty bland.

The only superhero movie I could enjoy via the visuals alone would probably be Hellboy 2.

What amuses me the most are some people whining about some grand Disney conspiracy to pay off all the critics to trash this movie. That's a theory that's actually coming out of people's mouths.

No, the critics aren't all being Marvel fanboys, nor are they bought by Disney or any other nonsense like that. Problem is, most of the time, critics can tell a sloppy movie when they see one, and in my experience, I've found them to be right far more often than not.

I didn't mean it like that
I mean't that these guys were already owned by disney from the start
Everyone knows it. Thats why every disney movie is praised, even the forgettable ones

Literally everyone knows this, its an undisputed fact, the only thing disputed about it, is that we don't know if the fact that disney owning their companies is making them give warner brothers things bad reviews

although marvel is most definitely telling their creative teams to bash DC on social media(its actually kind of embarrasing)

No, they simply are critics who watch a ton of films and wonder if something works or not. Look at redlettermedia for example, some have labeled them DC haters, even though they found Nolan's Batman films very strong. They have liked most Marvel films because they have found them strong, but they won't backdown from making jokes about how boring Thor's character is or why Star Trek Into Darkness doesn't work.

There's no conspiracy. Go to the Michael Bay forums and you'll see this exact mentality of "critics dislike this because they are biased!"

>>
>>81019755

92% means that 92% of people liked the film which is reasonable, i guess.
The score on RT is 8.2/10.
>>
>>81019855
No you dumbass, it means if you take a sample group of 100 people, 92 of them are gonna like it. That's what the tomatometer means. You're thinking of the average rating which is 8.2
>>
>>81019117
It's not just Jumanji, there's a good number of perfectly fine films that didn't get a good reception or films that are extremely overrated and get a better average than all time classics.

I'm not expecting this to blow my socks off, but people give RT way too much credit. Being a critic nowadays means shit. Film critics, comic critics, tv critics, videogame critics, you can count in your hand the ones that are worth something. Most of these people are no better than the average viewer and offer no great insight about the thing they are supposed to know. And yet people chose to listen to dipshits and skip on a number of things they would really like otherwise. Review aggregators only made conformity worse. People are too afraid to form their own opinion.

With every new mainstream badly reviewed film i always find it ironic how fanboys complain about the "mob mentality" of people who check the opinions of professional film reviewers, yet also end up following the "mob mentality" in their fandom that's in constant denial about any negative opinion about the stuff they like.

Jesus. I hope not. Back in high school, I was the only one who even gave a shit about that site, and if that's changed, the world's gone retarded. I stopped caring once Ebert died.
>>
>>81017499
Same here. Though the critics' opinions about it being packed really makes me wonder about the director's cut. What got thrown out, did it balance out the movie or was it more needless fluff...etc.
>>
>>81019937
Because the site makes it so. The approval rate is flashy as fuck. The actual rating isn't even bolded. Not that it matters when it's just a number assigned to reviews when some don't use any sort of score system. But it's built on peer pressure, the percentage of critics is what they want you to look at, not a score.

Not that guy, but I agree with him.

It played extremely well on audience expectations on what a villain is. It also worked into the core message of the film.

For all its quippy bullshit and frankly hit-or-miss, IM3 has more to say about its characters and about real life issues than all the faux-baroque bullshit Snyder will ever be able to cram into his puerile films.

I wasn't a fan of IM3 simply because the comedy made me cringe on occasion, but the Mandarin twist was intelligent, and it had more thematic cohesion than anything Snyder's ever put out.

1. Marvel brainwashing.

2. Marvel shilling.

3. Marvel creating an atmosphere where only 'fun' films flourish.

Newsflash, by the by - only fun films have ever flourished. 'Fun' and 'funny' are not the same shit. Stalker is fun, but not because it's funny. Leon is fun, but not because it's funny (though, it is funny at times). Ex Machina is fun, but not because it's funny.

It's still too big a problem that has to be addressed immediately. The foundation for Justice League is being built on two flawed films. One was salvageable, two is troubling. They need some fresh blood ahead of the project, Snyder needs to be put down.

In the ideal scenario WW and Sucide Squad are good enough to keep things afloat, but even that's unsure. WB will need address it's shortcomings heads on if they are serious about unfucking the universe.

IMDB's score is garbage now, as it always is prior to the release of an anticipated film, but a few days in, after a few thousand people have rated it, I'll find it far more trustworthy than RT. Far larger sample size, and, as with 4chan, anonymity produces a level of honesty that can't be matched; critics don't want lose face by diverging too much from the pack. In a few days RT will still be garbage.

I have no idea why anyone holds pro critics up to some higher standard, as if they've acquired some variety of magical insight, by working through the movie watching equivalent of a PhD program. /co/ has more faith in them than conservatives have in trained scientists.
