So what's the gang situation look like in Zootopia? Polar Bears seem to have a mafia thing going on, though arctic shrews are more Italian/Sicilian. The rams had a bit of a neo-nazi gang aesthetic (white shirt and red suspenders are distinctive skinhead attire). Who would be the outlaw bikers in such a world? Who'd be the Triads and Yakuza?

They've got an urban decay problem in at least some parts of the city. Nick's drinking chair next to the bridge had a lovely view of an old broken down warehouse (which was actually the Wild Times amusement park building from a previous concept), and Judy's apartment was shitty. There's also an organized crime element in the city, as exemplified with Mr. Big-- not to mention there are the rundown parts of the railway system where a rolling drug lab was able to stay hidden.

There's some seedier underside of Zootopia that was only really hinted at in the movie. How far it extends, we don't really know, but then again the movie only showed Judy's first case that wasn't parking violation related. They mention officers in the ZPD having SWAT duty, and that means that some potentially serious shit happens once in a while.

It'd be great if we could have a TV series that really explores all these ideas with more detail than the movie had time for, although I'd hardly expect anything particularly gritty if it's a show that is meant to be kid-appropriate.

Does this confirm that Zootopia exists in a universe parallel to ours?
If there is a Zoo-Disney making movies that mirror our Disney movies, could it also be that other companies are mirrored as well? Apple seems to exist in their universe. Is there a Zoo-Microsoft and Zoo-Google as well? Perhaps people are mirrored into Zootopia as well, and not just companies. How deep does this rabbit hole go?

I think Judy and Nick getting married eventually would be beautiful. It compliments the story very well. Plus how often does Disney have two characters get so close in a way that feels natural?

Parents would understand the underlined meanings, and kids would just find it cute since to them the animals are all just living happily together.

It'd be a good message if done as well as the first movie was.
>>
>>80950318
No u.
>>
I wanna see Nick and Judy get in a relationship if only because it'd be one of the very select few romantic relationships in a Disney story that would be completely natural, memorable and actually develop over a relatively significant period of time. I mean, Tangled was a little better about that given that Rapunzel and Eugene's journey took place over the course of at least several days, which is a lot longer than what the usual Disney relationship has.

>It'd be great if we could have a TV series that really explores all these ideas with more detail than the movie had time for, although I'd hardly expect anything particularly gritty if it's a show that is meant to be kid-appropriate.
Could this be a good thing? It'd be easy for a gritty show to turn the grimdark up to ridiculous levels in the name of 'maturity'- presenting such issues and relevant social commentary while remaining kid-friendly could prove to be more effective at drawing attention to said issues in the long run.
>>
>>80950359
This.

In the second film they could be living together, making breakfast together, nothing specifically stated. Maybe have Nick turned around now and then like he's thinking about something. Near the end have him propose. Maybe he proposes because something happens that scares him into feeling he has to ask before he or her gets hurt. Yeah all cliche, sappy, but most things are nowadays. I'm sure whatever they'd decide to do as far having them get together would be better than any crap I could think up.

the issue is the movie is an unstylized look at anthropomorphized animals and such a romance might weird out regular moviegoers who never thought about the implications of such a thing. Take for instance Madagascar where a giraffe and a hippo fell in love. No one blinked an eye, but that movie followed many cartoon animal cliches most importantly of which was it glazed over details like how they can be civilized and talking but still be wild animals. Zootopia is not like most cartoons where the only important details regard the movie's metaphors and moral, it is a properly fleshed out fantasy that explores aspects of its world not normally considered important in children's movies. This attention to detail I think accounts for the movie's popularity; everybody likes it when fiction takes itself seriously and fleshes out its world and characters beyond what's expected, but that can also be considered self-indulgent when it's secondary to the overall message. Nick and Judy come off as real people with actual chemistry that serves no purpose other than to indulge fans of the movie, and that is blatantly furry and thus kinda creepy. We don't want to see Nick and Judy fall in love because it's an affirmation of our real world values, we want to see it because they're cute cartoon animals who make an attractive couple and it's evident the movie's creators think the same thing.

tl;dr
every animator at disney pops a boner at the thought of making Nick and Judy kiss and with the internet bringing the mentality of furries to our culture's forefront this would be very apparent to most people if the sequel was about their romance. I doubt Disney hasn't thought about the implications of crossing such a line.

It's not really a single screening and more that Japan doesn't even have the movie yet. It opens there on Saturday, April 23rd.

So Zootopia is being dethroned at the box office by new Batman movie, right?
>>
>>80952795
Based off BvS presale numbers alone, yes. However, it's still going to make some spring break money on the side.

It kind of has to be. It's awesome that it won out for three weekends and broke all sorts of records, but a fourth weekend would be unrealistic for just about every movie, highly anticipated crossover premiering or not.

Just somewhere along the way. In the Q&A they saw when researching cape buffalo that many had broken horns. They didn't break them for the final version but they did give him multiple scars on his face.

Also glasses because apparently cape buffalo have terrible eyesight

It's because some people/interviewers asked the directors about it, and most of their answers to questions are always "maybe, yeah".

I had an odd dream last night. Nick, Judy and another couple, I don't remember who they were, for all I know it could have been another Nick and Judy, were hanging out.

The girls showed the guys this picture book that they were flipping through. Then at the end there was a box with a ring and the girls proposed to their respective guys while friends were watching in the background.

There was also something about mass effect that took up the majority of the dream

To me, what we know of the script makes Nick's escape through Little Rodentia a bit arbitrary, whereas at least the new script used it to introduce Fru Fru. I'll bet that they saved Koslov's kid earlier to get an out, and I doubt he was wandering around Little Rodentia due to the gates and such.

Nick and Judy's friendship was practically designed to be shipping fuel. They work so well together, play off of each others' personalities, grow as characters together...and yet they're not explicitly "together" at the end of the movie, like almost every other Disney film.

That's why even normies ship them hard, because the movie sets up the scenario so well but doesn't actually go through with it.

Well they aren't going to commit to any special features just in case circumstances force them to drop those plans.

You don't ever commit to anything when its this early, that way when you are forced to drop things, people don't get pissy and say "Hey you said yada yada yada"

Of course maybe he means there might actually be issues getting it in there, but I'm sure they are just covering their asses and it'll probably be in

Why is everyone on their phone in Zootopia?

Does Disney really want to encourage selfie culture?
>>
>>80953645
Disney what the fuck?
Why can't they just stop enabling furfags and shit or at least stop replaying to them?
>>
>>80953716
The fact that the scene after has Nick retying his tie implies it was, though I'm sure they don't animate shit in order so it could be it never got animated.
>>
How good are the Disney DVDs compared to BluRay these days? Do they still include things like cut scenes on the inferior medium?
>>
>>80953735
Because that's their main goal anon.

I really liked Zootopia a lot and am into furry shit but it is beyond obvious that Disney is working to create the next generation of furries.

I mean, isn't it true that like 90% of furries are massive Disneyfags? If so, having more of them will only increase sales and $$ on future products.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if in 5-10 years we see furries become the new 'victim' class championed by the government - and Disney would have knowingly made this film hoping for that outcome.
>>
>>80953734

>>
>>80953780
afaik yes, they do. But maybe less stuff to avoid having to compress the main feature too much to fit into 9gb.
With luck they might include a second DVD with all the extra shit, though, in which case they could include everything.

Still, why would you care about DVD? 720x480 video has been a joke for like a decade.
>>
>>80953737
Well they dropped lots of animation (they said in an interview that the hardest part is to drop animations animators spent a hell lot of time doing), what they most likely usually don't do is render it though. Also I guess that depended upon which stage the animation was dropped it might also miss things like Camera animation, simulations and lightning.

>>80953735
I think they're just being nice and appreciative of fan reactions. Also, there's a huge chance they're replying to young teens anyway, they wouldn't know if the art's from a grown ass adult. And their bread and butter are the enthusiasm of these fans. The more support Zootopia gets, the bigger the chance the directors can work on more Zootopia material.

>>80953786
Stop thinking there's a conspiracy to convert people. Stop thinking about this "us vs them" notion, and acting like your furfaggotry is a religion. Humans have admired animals even from caveman days. That's not being a furry, and I'm pretty sure Disney does not condone wearing suits and shit like that.
>>
>>80953735
They actively approach certain people in the fandom for promotional purposes.
Have you seen some of those fursuits posing in front of posters for the movie? They were contacted by Disney representatives and offered swag if to do that. A couple of them posted screenshots of the email they got.

They want furries to promote this thing. They know it's also their main market, outside of young children.
