Season 2 is immensely better than S1 and I'd give it an overall 9/10, but damn was it inconsistent.

Your post has oddly just reminded me of what to me was a real strong point of season 2. The Irish guy. He was one of the few examples I've seen of a well written mob boss character on this kind of show. They usually end up being pushovers from the onset but I was genuinely surprised when he died so earlier. I guess the other example of a decent mob boss would be the Russian from season one
Also I think a Punished series would take him on a road trip, to keep him out of the Defenders' hair while he looks for answers and such. A lot of the time could be spent interacting with people who don't recognise him, maybe a romance. And when I say 'romance' I mean he meets a cute grill and feels conflicted but ultimately puts his mission first and can't get over his wife.

I guess a season could be a lot like the 2004 movie went; Castle hiding under a pseudonym in a rented apartment interacting with the other tenants minor comic characters (like Joan). Which I'd be fine with that. The 2004 movie really only sucked because Frank Castle didn't feel like comic book Frank at all, whereas Bernthal's Frank 100% owns the character. Plus more flashbacks with his senpai and backstory during his Iraq/Afghanistan days.

Also, I was okay with Season 1 being very subtle about the more mystical shit, and thought Season 2 would go at it harder, but they still largely ignored it which I feel is a big mistake. Iron Fist is going to come out and feel very weird to casual watchers considering DD could be a better introduction into that world.

Eh, it was a mixed bag. I didn't like how much shit they tried to cram in it, I hated John Travolta being in it prominently, but it had some genuinely weird stuff that I enjoyed, like the fight with the russian and that assassin guitar dude.
It lost itself in a messy plot and ended up being a revenge movie and not a Frank franking criminals deal. Also him being an alcoholic to make him more sympathetic was a mistake.

Ok I just marathoned it with my wife for the last couple days, also we watched all of season 2 (*badumptsh*)
Season 2 was a hell of a lot better than season 1. Both seasons were better than literally any other cape show on TV, period. I cant even bring myself to watch Legends any more because of how shitty the writing has gotten. I gave up Arrow after the Felicity gary stu bullshit they were doing and Flash this season has just fucking started to lose me. I mean I might still watch flash, for now, but the fucking passion for the show is gone.
Daredevil, still fucking good. Hell the weakest part of Daredevil this season was the Electra shit and it was STILL fucking watchable at least. The forced romance shit was bad, I wont lie, it was filler. But I could at least tune it out long enough for it to go away unlike Arrow or Flash where you are just whimpering until its fucking over.
There was some serious shit I wish they could have done better.
