I was enjoying it too, but I think overall what really kept me from putting it on TDI's level were the villains and romance subplots. I appreciate the Ice-Dancers were a parody of the Tonya Harding case, as Heather was a spoof of the typical queen bee/Mean Girls type, but I just hated their execution so much. And I really felt like the character interactions were lacking. Characters who weren't the writers' favorites just stuck to their own teammate and never interacted with anyone else at all.

I thought the villains were great, probably my favorite villains in the whole series, but I agree, some teams got screwed while others lasted way longer than they should've. The Daters shtick got old fast, yet they stuck around for most of the series. Fuck me, this is exactly what happened. I was struggling through Pahkitew Island and wondering what the fuck went so wrong compared to the early seasons, and it was this. It felt like just a shitty cartoon with a reality show going on in the background.

The show was mismarketed by Cartoon Network. The first season was clearly skewing for a slightly older audience (like 12-17), but CN decided to just hackjob it for young kids.
Which leaves us with such confusing edits as two teenagers passionately making out in a bathroom and pixelated tits being okay, but the words 'stupid' and 'hot' being forbidden.

here's how the seasons are in my opinion;
Island: overall a really good season, second best currently
TDI special between Island and Action: terrible
Action: terrible except for a couple shining bits like Harold and Lindsay
Special between Action and World Tour: never actually seen it so I'm not sure
World Tour: okay for the most part, but the bad parts of the season are incredibly hard to sit through
Revenge of The Island: overall a pretty good season, has the most satisfying finale of any TD series
All-Stars: absolute garbage in almost every way
Pahkitew Island: not bad, but clearly suffers from the reduced episode count
Ridonculous Race: has some hiccups(like a weak finale and certain contestants way overstaying their welcome), but is otherwise the overall best season of the franchise currently

well I already tossed out most of the veterans with too much screen time, and really Lindsay, Harold, and Leshawna(figure I'll go with her instead of Katie & Sadie) are the only veterans here who have been in more than two seasons, if I didn't use them, then I'd have to dig up characters from the first generation who I honestly have little to no interest in using(cause really does anyone want DJ or Bridgette to be brought back?), and I wanted all the teams to have matching numbers(and didn't want to have a contestant number less than 22)

well for Team Wawanakwa, the only possible winners returning are Alejandro and Beth(I wouldn't directly confirm it, but I'd hint that Heather won WT and Beth won Action in this AU), and for Teams Boney Island and Pahkitew, well I kinda have no choice but to bring back the winners, both seasons had anemic casts compared to Generation 1, if I didn't I'd have to either break my Hard Mode rule, or bring characters that I find boring or hate into this(hell Alejandro is only part of the Gen 1 team to be the 1st episode sacrificial lamb instead of someone who I'd want to give more screentime, although after episode 1 I'd break convention and not have another elimination challenge occur till episode 4 or 5 to allow the rest of the cast some needed time to develop)

Tried to avoid using characters form All Stars, but I would still need to use two boys from ROTI's cast that was in it anyway. Scott was an obvious choice because he's the favorite, and Lightning is just more entertaining than Sam. Him being in would provide some Sam/Dakota stuff obviously, but while I think most people like the ship it also isn't a very entertaining one. Courtney is brought back to continue her story with Scoot. Chris refuses to allow Ridonculous Race competitors on to the show (hence why no Owen or Geoff), so Bridgette didn't make the cut since Geoff couldn't. I don't think Chris would willingly allow Scarlett or Max to compete again and would use his legal powers to keep them off, hence why they're not there either, but they could be reoccurring villains that try to mess with the show and steal the cash. Originally had Sky instead of Sugar to finish her story with Dave, but the majority of the fandom seems to almost unanimously hate that storyline, so she was nixed for the much more entertaining character.Dave has to stay because he's the main villain.
