Hank's character still rings pretty true to me, he was really into the idea of joining SPHINX or OSI but he's also kind of a sheltered (sheltered in a weird world of hero/villain nonsense) idiot who with this move is starting to interact with (normal) people again. Being a guy with a job kind of is a new adventure for a guy who's never known anything but globetrotting adventure, and even as a pizza boy he can't help but try to infiltrate a super villain's apartments to get close to the guy's hot daughter.
I get what you're saying but Hank is just after a different kind of adventure now. As a 20 something year old (as far as he know since he can't remember it) virgin, trying to woo a supervillain's daughter is pretty adventurous.

It's perfectly natural for show heads to slow down in later seasons after making their show popular by dedicating 24/7 of their life to getting it off the ground.
