How much money have you spent on your single issues?
I've been buying comics for about 6 years so I decided to count up how much total I've spent on issues.
I've spent 2,484 dollars. I'm done
i've spent too much, but i keep buying anyways.
Maybe 120 dollars?
It was really only a couple of months before I realized that it was WAY too expensive for amount of enjoyment I had. Pirating made so much more sense.
If I ever do spend money, it'll be on trades.

Not a lot.
I'm positively in the 1000s in my trades and shit though.

Like 10 dollars.
I'm a greedy asshole.

>2,484
So you have what, 621 issues or so? Just under nine a month?
You're right at the bottom end of spending for this particular hobby. There's a lot of people like you - the majority, probably - but the few who can still spend probably what you spent in a year each month. Some of them more.
When one of them dies, every publisher takes a hit. It's really that simple.

I'd say I could buy a semi-decent terraced house in my hometown if I'd saved all the money I spent on comics, seriously. About £12,000, conservative estimate

>bing bong bucks
>12,000 of them for a decent terraced house in "hometown"
okay, Achmed.
Maybe like $600 total, my pull is only like $10 a month normally.
Probably in the thousands if I count trades though.

Sold a big collection in early 2000's which I've been more-or-less buying back since, also been buying comics since I was about 5, at least 5 titles a week.... In mid-thirties now. Pre-direct market innahouse, bitch.
Simply ebin Achmed maymay, too. You out-shitted yourself with that one, son.
I just counted 35 graphic novels/trade paperbacks/whatever on one of my shelves. Assuming that's the average, I have 8 of those shelves, so that's 280 books, plus a ninth shelf for oversize books, only about 10-15 or so. I also have two archival boxes of minicomics, zines, the rare individual issue I'll buy.
Cheap side on the books is about $10, which is discount titles and Image firsts. Expensive side on a per-page basis are probably my oversize Moebius reprints, which are $80 each and only 60 pages. Assuming about an average of $20/book, 280 books, that's $5,600. The oversize books probably add another $600+ onto that number. The archival boxes are probably another couple hundred bucks at least.
None of this is counting money spent on convention tickets, prints, art books, etc.

top kek
>single issues
But why?
>>80851865
I spend about $50-70 on comics every week
On single issues not much since I started last year after only buying trades previously. On trades and HCs and singles maybe like $1000 or so. Peanuts compared to video games or Magic the Gathering, god I try hard not to think about how much I've spent on those.
The only time I buy single issues is when I want to see if I like a series or there's a bundle being sold on ebay.
Something really needs to be done about this way of publishing comics, they're way overpriced too.
