I find the pants people weird because WW in pants just looks like Donna to me rather than Diana. Like if you gave Hal Jordan Kyle's weird mask or Guy's jacket. Visual markers like that are important.

Yeah it's weird cause back when Batman Inc happened in the New 52 they forced them to use the New 52 suit in flashback. (Of course, now they actually edited it for the Absolute Edition)
