Itt: autistic /co/ things you do
>When watching a show, I like to sometimes porject myself onto one of the characters/project myself into the scene/episode so I don't feel as lonely
>Sometimes I will imagine the characters talking to me in my head and having conversations in my head as I go through my day to day routines
So I might be going insane...

Anyone else do this?

Sometimes I imagine the plots of comics I'd write. But I can only really fully concentrate on what I'm constructing in my head if I move around. So, I'll, like, jump around and do handstands in my room for some reason.

Having had Typed that out, I'm pretty sure now that I'm actually literally autistic.
>>
>>80821690

I do the exact same thing, particularly projecting myself. Whenever I am reading or watching a story, I got my own character with their own powers or whatever, going along with the heroes, talking to them, helping them out. It's almost like a mental exercise because I imagine how I help, but I also got to make sure it doesn't mess with the plot that I am watching. For shows that I enjoy enough to do this for, I end up remembering their episodes or books clearer than I would otherwise since I was "involved".
>>
>>80826220
It's just so fucking fun.
Not only do I get the satisfaction of feeling like I have friends or am doing something important for a change, I also get to talk to my favorite characters in my head and interact with them.

It's like playing out a self insert fanfiction in my head. I love doing it. Even though it is not good for me.
>>
>>80821690
I started doing this in elementary now I can't hold on to actual conversations after a few minutes.
>>
>>80826277
I am actually getting worried I might be becoming schizophrenian. (I made that word up).

Basically dementia and shit runs in my family, and I may be accelerating the degradation of my mind by doing this. I don't care though. Sounds like a bitchin' way to go insane.
>>
>>80826262

Dude, I feel you 100%. It is really fun. Even after the show is over, and I laying in my bed, I'll even have my own side plots or whatever, so I can enjoy some flexibility and impact the story line more. Plus I always tweak my character for each show. Obviously the characteristics are about the same since it is just me, but if it like a superhero show, then I'll have some powers, if it was just all people, then I'd be a human too. That sort of thing. And I have this sort of unclassified rule for like superpowers to never be god like. I'm always some sort of street leveler with niche powers. Makes things even more interesting. Like with the JLA cartoon from 2005. A lot of fun talking to the people, having to watch my mouth not to piss off Hawkgirl or something.

>"get a job" sounds like a shitty fuck-offy advice, but try actually doing it and you'll see the difference it makes in your life

I work about 50 hours a week and aside from money the only thing I get out of it is a ton of frustration since I hardly have time for cartoons and vidya

Working is fucking shit and only worth doing since you need to in order to survive. I wish I could be NEET
>>
>>80826314
In my case my mother does the same thing except with NASCAR racers so I think I may have got it from her somehow.

The reason I can't hold on to conversations is because its not enough, that it doesn't feel fulfilling enough and pointless. Its gotten to the point where I don't mind it anymore for the most part.
>>
>>80826328
Yeah man it's great.

Sometimes I also like to combine other elements of shows into the fantasy that I have at the moment. My favorite thing to do is my power fantasy moments, where I autistically take Dragon Ball shit like Super Saiyan forms and I make that my special power, and I imagine scenarios where all is lost, and then suddenly my "inner power" awakens and I transform, and I find great joy out of looking at the reactions of my "friends". It's just fucking good ol fashioned autistic imagination land esque fun.

One time I imagined myself transforming into a Super Saiyan and saving Raven from Teen Titans from Trigon... Was pretty fun.

I also like doing it at work as well. I'll be flipping burgers(I am a wagecuck, 18 though and its my first job)and I'll either imagine one of the characters as my coworkers, or one of them will "pop in" to my head and commentate on shit and I talk back.

I'd go into the freezer and I hear for instance, Edd's voice from Ed Edd n Eddy if that is a show I was recently watching
>Good grief it's cold in here...

...
God I feel so fucking autistic.
>>
>>80826328
So do you also rotate your "characters" depending on your mood/show? I find sometimes that one minute a character from Steven Universe pops in, and then the next a character from Teen Titans for example, but other times if I was watching a show recently, something like Reddit and Memey, then Rick will pop in and just start mouthing off for the rest of the day.

Yeah, that's pretty fun. If something really stuck with me, I'll make it a constant regardless of the story. So maybe my powers still work the same way even though it'd be an anomaly in the story.

Personally, I don't do that. Usually the characters stay within their context/story. Though I do bring people from my life and add them to my own personal story whenever I am not watching/reading something. Watch their reactions as whatever crazy thing happens in the story unfolds in front of them.

>>80826569
I might change my mental theme. Upbeat superhero to something grimdark if I am pissy or something, but like I said, I don't do that second thing you mentioned about the characters replacing real life people.
>>
So do you guys do this all of the time or only on your free time?
>>
>>80822721
Same. I much prefer reading physical comics but sometimes I think the reason I buy so much is to fulfil my autistic need to collect shit.
>>
I only do that in reading a fanfic because it's not as serious as a real story
>>
>>80826133
Dude, I do that too.
What could it mean?
>>
>>80821690
If I'm not particularly invested in a show, I'll imagine what the animators/story department/producers were probably doing when they were making it.

If a joke makes me roll my eyes, or some part makes me cringe, I might say: "Jesus Christ, X!" Where X is the creator of the show.
>>
Sometimes when I'm having a conversation I pretend I'm actually the person have a conversation with people but in a cartoon
>>
>>80826706

Typically more of a freetime thing. When I'm at work, I'm just working hard. I got things to do, and I am going to get them done.

But like when I am driving to and from work, then maybe as I am driving and checking my sides, I am imagining stuff happening around me. That's probably the most constant one. And if I am watching a show I am getting pretty into, same thing, but I haven't watched anything in a while. Same thing with reading, haven't read anything for a bit.

Honestly, it isn't something that takes up a lot, if any time because it's during either watching/reading something or if I am driving.

Yeah, I used to do that. But after a while I started imagining my own characters, and instead of interacting with me they were interacting with my self insert character, and I was just making up my own stories that were heavily inspired by /co/ media. Sometimes still, while I'm watching something or just afterwards, I'll imagine my characters in the show and imagine up a little fanfic.

I am kind of constantly thinking up these stories all the time every day, often while listening to music, and usually playing the same scenes over and over. But I never really write any of it down.
>>
>>80826796
>I am imagining stuff happening around me
Yeah I do that as well as the character things.

I like to get really deep and ansgty with it, sometimes I imagine wars around me and I like to go through it like I'm trying to find my way to some important objective. It's fucking fun as shit doing it on a bike with some Metal playing in my headphones, imaganing I'm being chased down by some big giant robotic spider like demon behind me as I fly through the streets.

I don't know. I looked into something called maladaptive daydreaming. Some parts of it sound kinda similar to what I do, but some parts sound kinda different. It could be that or just good old autism.

For Disney princesses, I find other things that their voice actresses have been in or sang.

For example, Anna is both a naive princess and a hard boiled detective to me while Elsa is the ice queen but also a bisexual that has to deal with AIDS issues with her inner city friends.

In high school I bought a plastic Green Lantern ring from a friend at the price of $15.00. I then wore it all throughout sophmore and junior year and finally put it away senior year as the paint had begun to chip from wear. I regret nothing and it still sits on my desk to this day.
>>
I prefer headcanons over actual canons. I mostly do this with comic book arcs/runs I don't like.
>>
>>80840519
Jesus Christ I wore a plastic Green Lantern ring almost every day to school in high school, too. Even wore it for probably most of my first year of uni. I had the whole spectrum set, so some days I would wear a different color.

One day I was like "what am I doing there is functionally no difference between this and a purity ring because they both have the same basic effect" and I stopped.

I still have them, though.

I've been eyeing that $60 GL ring on Amazon as a suitable replacement. That or the Legion flight ring.

I kind of really want a Power Battery replica but I can't justify spending $150 USD on toys. Especially because of the shitty messy apartment I live in in which there would be no nice place to display it and it would inevitably just end up underneath a heap of my clothing.

I think I have maladaptive daydreaming. In fact, it's impacting my life. I'd rather stay home alone rather than go out with friends so I can daydream.

It's not always necessarily /co/ related, like I have a House of Cards related dream where I'm a powerful politician that manipulates people. When it is /co/ related, I can be one of the canon characters, or I make myself a Mary-Sueish character. I also just make up a story and don't project myself onto any character. Sometimes I make myself a creator of a movie or comic or whatever, and I'm amazing and people are inspired by me.

At least I hide it and don't let anyone know I live on other worlds other than the one I'm actually on. :(
>>
>>80821690
Literally sing along with songs in cartoons,. even learning to play them on ukulele. I also daydream up music videos every time I listen to music, usually with my own stuff but sometimes with cartoons.

I get really obsessed with fiction (to the point I have anxiety about losing my books and hard drives) but I've never gotten close to all this active self-insert daydreaming stuff.
>>
>>80821690
Dude.... I do the same thing.

Sometimes I pace around the house listening to music pretending to be hanging out and doing shit with the characters. Earlier today I was jamming out to JOJO OPs and pretending I was with the stardust crusaders.

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm actors too. I like to play announcement music from trailers and shit like E3 and pretend their announcing me as one of the main characters of whatever they're announcing. Everyone cheers and is super hype.

If only I had the strength to kill myself and be in this other world.

I'm too worried about what is on the other side though.

I believe it's nothing. Just darkness but we don't have the consciousness to realize it. We can't miss if we can't exist.

My big issue is there's things I can't let go of. If it wasn't for that I'd have killed myself already.
