I watched the first season of Clarence last week.
Outside of being able "Hey I did stuff like that," the episode where the recess warden gives him a timeout. He ends up missing all of recess and it messes him up for a while.
It was just a well put together example, using simple hyperbole, of how small things adults do or say can affect how kids see things.

Me too but for different reasons, I loved toy story as a kid, Buzz Lightyear was my hero I dressed up like him for an entire year once (I was 3) But watching this scene now just makes me realize how I'll never go on grand adventures, be a space ranger, or anything really and watching Buzz realize this now just makes me cry because now I know how that feels. I think this was my favorite scene in any episode of regular show. An aging world weary man (Benson) who's accomplished nothing with his life trying to explain to a headstrong slacker (Rigby) how he will regret just letting his life pass by. In doing so Benson admits that he hates his life and he can't escape that reality no matter what he does. That alone is soul-crushingly tragic but the conversation is also ironic because Rigby is just the sort of person who should take Benson's advice but probably won't, just adding to Benson's feeling of failure and isolation.
As someone who is getting dangerously old and has made some bad decisions in life this scene really resonated with me.Benson C'mon. You gotta relax. Life tends to work out.
