Yeah well Static Shock was a ridiculously inconsistent show when it came to continuity. It wasn't even apart of the DCAU till the second season. It was literally a plot point that Lex was scouring the earth for even a few ounces of it.

i think they didn't do nothing with his sexuality but he was gay in the comics so there it comes the "hidden gay" thing, maybe some writers were going to make him gay but couldn't.

The better episodes of Static tied him into the DCAU as a whole, or played around with the Boom Baby concepts (or alternatively used Boom Babies to discuss something else).
The worst ones had celebrity tie-ins, which made Static the only DCAU show to do that.
