Oh wow, something actually dramatic and somewhat interesting is happening in QC. How will Hans Stabben fuck this one up?

I wanna clang the pink robot.
>>

Are we seeing... plot?
>>
>>80765011
Oh man, this comic is pretty cool to read right now. I should draw some muscular Faye.
>>
>>80765011
Pink robot is right.
It is a business and employees who freely give away stuff should be held-

Oh, that's right, logic and set sexuality aren't real things in this world.
>>
>>80765267
You are everything that is wrong with this world.

EVERYTHING.
>>
>>80765011
That's a reasonable complaint, voiced bitchily, considering that the whole point was that the parts and repairs are supposed to be expensive.
>>
So, what's the over under on Warbot bitching out Pinkie even though Pinkie is 110% correct?

Pink Robot isn't wrong, she's just an asshole. You can't use company resources to do your buddy a solid while you're on the clock.

At least QC is back up to submediocre, making it too boring to sustain threads.

Y'know, the last one died out at like 100 posts, and that was super rad.
>>
>>80765450
Yeah, but pink bot has been shown to be a bit of an ass, by reinforcing warbots fear of society. So 100%, but it will take at least 50 comics, if not more.

C'mon Jeph, you're close to actual plot and drama. Crank it up, make shit actually HAPPEN. Don't fuck this up, you can do it.

The issue seems to be that Bubbles was also a part of the act, but only Faye is getting reprimanded. It is a valid complaint from Pinky, but she's completely homing in on Faye. This, coupled with her previous disregard of Bubbles attempting to interact with humans, shows that she may have some racist thoughts. If that's even the right term to use in this situation.
>>
All it took was replacing the entire established cast with robots to push QC from laughable to mediocre.

Except the dyke, but she might as well be a completely different character than she was before the haircut.
>>
>>80765011
The comic really went to shit when Marten and Dora split up.
>>
>>80766577
Wait, so then this story arc would be about reverse racism and how it does actually affect some people?
I don't think that would go over well with the bogeymen.
>>
>>80766762
If we were in a realistic setting, and it was a black boss against Faye, then maybe. But since it's a robot, ironically, he can get away with it.
>>
Why is Princess Bubblegum such a bitch?
>>
>>80766762
There is no reverse racism. It's just fucking racism.

>>80766912
this
>>
>>80766693
Why did they even break up anyway?
>>
>>80768146
She kept thinking that Martin was pining over Faye, and it would make her upset. Meanwhile she would constantly hit on other girls.
>>
>>80768197
So there was no real reason other than miscommunication between the two of them?
>>
>>80768146
Stabs wrote himself into a corner where he was just recycling the same three drama points in order, repeatedly, and he had no idea how to fix their relationship
so he ditched Dora and began plotting to hook Marten up with perfect trans girlfriend that's never the source of any drama
>>
>>80768228
iirc it was less miscommunication and more dora couldn't get over her insecurities about martin. It was definitely her problem
>>
>>80765011
i hate how ugly that pink robot design is
i hope garnet smashes her body to bits, and then throws her indestructible immortal AI core into a volcano
>>
>>80768387
Wasn't there also the incident where she was a bitch who didn't respect his privacy? Looked through his porn history when he expressly told her not to i think
>>
>>80769510
Yeah, that was the straw that broke the camel's back. Marten set a boundary, Dora broke it, Marten got pissed (because she didn't respect his wishes), Dora got pissed (because Marten got pissed and she didn't think she did anything wrong), and then she broke up with Marten because she had some realization that her shitty behavior was causing the same shitty arguments over and over again.

It's not like she's wrong. Hell this is immediate termination at a lot of business.

She just came off like a bitch. Which is realistic as fuck as well. I want to be mad but at the same time I can't.
>>
>>80771641
It's not really that severe of an issue though. Yeah it was an unnecessary use of their supplies, but her trainer agreed to do it because they had down time and Faye needed training on that specific repair job.

What's nice about it is that it's showing someone who is in this "illegal" fighting circuit being not nice. It's refreshing.
>>
>>80771641

See, having been in both sides of the equation, there's a lot to be said for how you say things.

"Dude, if you want to use our materials to do your buddy a solid, you have to pay for them the same as everyone else, getting paid for providing this stuff is how we stay afloat" is a thing most workers will get - and in fact when you generally don't even have to dock the pay, they'll often answer something to the tune of "alright, I'll pay for it then" and you'll settle tabs and things will be done, no fuss.

"If you're ever feeling altruistic again, DON'T" in a threatening manner is being a dick, entirely unnecessarily.
>>
>>80771716
>>"If you're ever feeling altruistic again, DON'T" in a threatening manner is being a dick, entirely unnecessarily.
You seem to be forgetting that this is an ILLEGAL robot fighting league. Pinkie is a criminal, and Faye just stole from her.
>>
A reasonable thing to do would be to help blue robot after hours and pay for their parts used. If pink robot objected to that it would be pretty bitchy. As things stand, pink robot is completely right.
>>
>>80766233
OMG SHE'S GONNA EAT THAT LITTLE DOG!
and then she's gonna eat me!
OH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
>>
>>80771732

It's the parts that she's getting deducted from her pay though.
>>
>>80771722

Eh, doing illegal things doesn't *necessarily* mean you have to be the Mafia or anything.

Granted, it's becoming increasingly clear that yes, this is not just a bunch of robots coming together and building a Fight Club clandestinely because they wanna let off some steam and punch each other but they're not allowed to. So a Mafia scenario is much more likely than not in this particular case.

I know. That's why the pink robot is right, instead of wrong. Faye should have offered to pay for the parts and done it off the clock. Instead she was forced to pay for the parts, but still did it on the clock so she's still screwing over her boss.
>>

actually its the bosses way of saying dont give away free shit anymore. its not that hard to grasp
>>
>>80766490
Seconded
>>
>>80771801
Honestly, Faye didn't do anything wrong either. It was all Bubbles' idea and she just went along with it as the junior employee.

Unless it turns out pink was just looking for an excuse to fuck with the meatbag and didn't really care about the parts, and Bubbles was aware of this, she's the only one in the wrong for not immediately stepping up and taking the blame.
>>
>>80765011
People do realize the business pinkbot is running is illegal, and that people in the illegal circuit are usually there because they aren't adjusted for above-the-table work.

So, yeah, she's a bitch. That's why she's there.
>>
>>80771971
I think Bubbles doesn't know. But now she suspects. Cause yeah, only one person getting shit here. If she'd wheeled around on Bubbles next and gave her the business as well it'd be just her enforcing a sensible policy.
>>
>>80765011

Faye should have just straight out said "Just dock it from my pay", rather than complaining about it.
>>
>>80771804
What did Jeff even do for a living before he started doing QC full time after about 18 months?
>>
>>80772083
>muh spare parts and leftover dermal
Yeah and convenience stores/fast food restaurants still consider it stealing if you take home any of the remaining stale food that otherwise gets thrown away without paying for it.
>>
>>80772083
this is an illicit activity, they don't want notoriety
>>
>>80772134

This is far more akin to a small business than a fast food chain, though. And generally if you want to take home leftovers from a restaurant the proper etiquette is simply asking the cook whether these are going to be recycled for croquettes or caneloni or something, and if not, nobody gives a shit.

Source: dad worked at a restaurant for thirty five years.
>>
>>80772134

I remember a friend of mine telling me she didn't have to pay for food leftover at the end of the day at the place she worked out.

And I got a backpack full of nearly-expired goods just because I happened to be there when the employees took off for the day.

Perhaps it's a case-by-case thing. Some do some don't.
>>
>>80772204
It depends on whether they choose to enforce it, but IME there are rules explicitly forbidding it.

>comic artist draws robots
>they're just recolored humans

gaaaay.
>>
>>80772185
Yes but doing without asking is why it's stealing.
If you ask and get permission then of course it doesn't matter if you take some.
>>
>>80772375

But the thing is it's not asking permission to the boss. The boss doesn't give a shit. You're asking the cook, and that isn't out of any "stealing" worry, but simply because if he had plans for it, it's rude to screw them up.

In this case, Faye asked Bubbles, who is the other person actually involved in the robot fixing area of the business. Bubbles was okay with it. If the parts really were spares nobody should have given a shit.

But Pinkie here has already shown she's a bit of a control freak.
>>
>>80772412
Keep in mind, May fixing herself/getting herself fixed was a violation of her parole anyway. That body is government property. Even if the only reason she wasn't approved for repairs was because the parolee budget couldn't afford it, there's no allowance for getting repairs from an outside source (risk of rogue AIs getting machine guns and shit, which she even specifically asked Faye for) means it's a parole violation.

So PinkBitchBot has to worry about Faye and Bubbles Underground Railroad shit getting her illegal fight ring stepped on.
>>
>>80772575
What I'm saying is, PinkBitchBot probably would have been fine with it if Faye was handing out a freebie in exchange for a free handie from Hookerbot5000. Both sides work on the down low, right? But she really IS being a bitch specifically over the 'charity' aspect.
>>
>>80765011

Maybe I've been a boss for too long, but I don't see anything wrong with what the pink robot did.
>>
>>80765011
Why don't they just open their own repair shops and then contract their services to this illegal operation?

Bubbles did say from jump street that they are not a charity, but justified it by stating that Faye needed training anyway.
>>
>>80765339
Yeah, but shouldn't Muscles be catching the heat? She approved the repairs in the interest of giving Faye more experience, and she seems to be Faye's supervisor.
>>
>>80772737
You're assuming that Jeph knows how to write, or how life works. This is a mistake.
>>
>>80772737

Robots have the protection of hte singularity's Minds, people do not.
>>
>>80772747

>>
>>80771763
Pinkie doesn't want heat coming to her illegal establishment.
>>
>>80765011

>>
>>80765339
That's the point though. Blue robot was fixed with stuff that is just laying around.
>>
The correct thing to do would have been to ask pink bot first and if she says no, just buy the correct parts and fix may on your own time. Maybe keep her the same shade of blue that she usually has instead of giving her flesh color.
>>
>>80772575
It was a parole violation because she was associating with criminals, not because she wasn't allowed to get repairs. She just couldn't afford any legitimate repair businesses.
>>
>>80772575
So how the fuck was May supposed to get fixed?

If the gubmint won't pay for it, and May can't pay for it on her own, there really isn't any legit way to get repairs.
>>
>>80772652
That's because she didn't do anything wrong other than act like a cunt, which most of the characters in this comic do anyhow
>>
>>80773297
That was exactly why she was blowing up at her parole officer. He even agreed with her, but not enough to do more than 'make a note in her file'.
>>
>>80773034
Go back and read the comics with the parole officer, she outright says something along the lines of 'not that I can afford it on my shitty salary, oh wait, that wouldn't matter anyway'
>>
>>80765011
>this is considered interesting
>this is considered plot development, when a boss gets mad at an employee for using funds from the business for personal use
>this is considered literally anything because the garnet rip off has an opinion about this
seriously?
seriously guys?
you aren't even pretending to hate this comic anymore
>>
>>80773297
She wasn't supposed to get fixed. Think of her like government housing. Your kitchen sink plumbing fails. You call HUD and report it. They don't have any funding so they can't fix it. You're not allowed to work on it because the government owns it. So you use the bathroom sink to wash your dishes.

May would have had to make do with a broken arm and kept that bag on her head since the repairs would have to come from the govt. she is a felon after all. In a real setting shed be endangering her freedom and the secrecy of the underground fights by being repaired there. Jeff can't write though so he just makes pinkbot be a bitch over spare parts instead of the more serious reasons.
>>
>>80773464
>She wasn't supposed to get fixed.

Why the Man gotta keep people down like that?
>>
>>80773500
May is a thinly veiled allegory for black felons reintegrating into society
>>
>>80773511
Gubmint is racist.

>>80773464
>"No worries fuckface, I'll just use all the money I make from my bottom-tier shitass job to pay for it OH WAIT THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE HA HA HA FUCK YOU"

They never state that she isn't allowed to get herself fixed by outside sources, only that she can't afford it. This arc would make no sense (even by Jeph standards) if the repair itself was a violation, because it would be a way bigger problem for her than the damage was.
>>
>>80773739
Even if she can pay for the repairs on her she'd still have to have them done at a government facility or one licensed by the government since it's their fucking chassis. She's going to roll up to her parole officer all magically fixed one day and if he's any good at his job he should have a lot of questions that will get May back in robojail with not Garnet and not Bubblegum joining her
>>
>>80773739

Yeah, the whole arc is a thinly veiled metaphor for the US healthcare system and likely problems Jeph has faced fixing all the hands he keeps stabbing.

May is the All Metaphor.
>>
Maybe pink knows that bluebots = ex cons
>>
>>80773538
She didn't join a robot strip club or brothel. There's plenty wrong with that.
>>
>>80773827
That's my point. The arc makes no goddamn sense if she isn't allowed to get non-government repairs, because having a self-incriminating body defeats the whole purpose of getting the repairs in the first place. The logical assumption is that she IS allowed to get outside repairs.

>>80774012
We saw her topless. She could only cater to barbie doll fetishists.
>>
>>80773739
I see what you're saying, but I still like my interpretation better. If it was /just/ money I don't think May would have bothered with all the rigmarole with the parole officer, there would have been different zany hijinks. Plus, with my version, you're right there's the issue of her next parole check in, but she can just wear the bag and claim she stuck the arm back on for now but it keeps making this motion *wankwankwank* and she can't even feel what it's doing, now I'm going to sit next to you for 5 minutes and stare at the opposite wall, okay?

Jeph has never done anything spectacularly, including failure. Even at the height of his idiocy, he's made maybe one or two hilariously bad strips, with the rest being just kind of bad.

Jeph's range is from meh to ugh, nothing more.

Try and exclude yourself from the other troglodytes reading this tripe all you like, but QC will never be anything other than the kiddy carousel of shitty webcomics.

At the current rate, it'll be half a month before we see the next 'hmm' out of Red.

Thing is, these two bits are the only negative aspects we've seen out of Pinky, and this one (like Dora's firing of Faye) is harsh but reasonable. Unless we find out that her earlier statement of "no one fights to pay off debts, or under indenture to another, or is in any way coerced" was false, and that her behavior just now is a sign that she was worked up over losing the chance at coercing a desperate AI into her robot arena business, then I think this is a pretty lame attempt at building up an antagonist, even for a slice of life story.
