Anon, not liking superheros anymore doesn't mean I don't have fun or don't like things, it just means I grew up.

Believe it or not, but there are better things than watching costumed men fight each other over vaguely defined concepts like good or bad.

If you like superheros, that's fine, but you can't ignore that they present a comically simplified narrative, which is fine because that's what they're supposed to do, be simple, fitting their position as Children's media.

Also, I think people today are too connected to their inner children, to the point of infantilization.

I think we as a culture have to get in touch with our inner adults.

It hasn't yet, although it may be due to simple fatigue.

Maybe if I hadn't seen a Superhero movie for 10 years, I could get nostalgic, remembering how I waited for Spider-Man two to open, but the fact that there have been multiple a year for nearly a decade has burnt out any desire I've ever had to see one as an adult.

I know that you feel insecure about being told that you're enjoying something that most people grow out of at some point, but you have to accept that you like something below your age group.

That's fine, most people like something traditionally seen as childish, like video games or Disney movies.

Like I said, it may have less to do with being an adult, and more with the fatigue caused by constant bombardment.

Not only is it multiple films a year, but countless series and comics.

>>
>>80740082
You didn't have to watch all of them though, it's your own damn fault. Sick of cape movies? Don't watch them. There, problem solved.

Ah yes, I'm the one showing insecurity here, not the guy who needs to tell himself (and for some reason, others) if he doesn't like something it's because he's too mature for it.
>>
>>80740114
That's not even a plot point, let alone a major one that you could say "spoils everything".

>Something doesn't need to be complicated to be entertaining
You're absolutely right, however these superhero movies are overly complicated in every facet save narrative. They're very baroque and loud, but present only a very simple story and character interaction.

I prefer simple technique impregnated with complex meaning rather than the reverse. Take the engraved landscapes by Rembrandt, often consisting of a few simple lines, but possessed of a deep, unforgettable beauty.

A superhero movie takes millions and millions of dollars and thousands of people to make, and yet they only provide one with a very fleeting sense of entertainment.

Because I like illustration, and some comics back in the day had great artists illustrating them, but the days of discussing things like that are long gone, replaced by film discussion.

I can tell from your syntax that you're getting angry.

I don't wish to upset you, and I apologize for doing so, but implying that I am somehow immature or joyless for voicing my opinion, the opinion asked of the OP is equally insensitive.
>>
>>80740205
I'm not a fan of Cap, Iron Man, or any of the other characters in the movie. But I am a Spider-Man fan. So while I still may not go see it, it might be enough for others to go see it when they wouldn't have otherwise. You can be a fan of a certain character without being a fan of the company/universe at large.
>>
>>80740162
There's really nothing complicated or complex about them, not even the technique of anything beyond maybe CGI.

Please go back to your art 101 class, maybe they'll care what you prefer and why you think you should explain to others why they should prefer it too.
>>
>>80740196

That's not really a spelling error. The word is spelled correctly without the R, and I doubt he is stupid enough to not know remember doesn't start with an R.

Oh, I assumed OP asked for our faces when Spider-Man was revealed, because that would actually make any goddamned sense whatsoever in the context of the board. I figured he was using their faces when to illustrate an example.

Why the fuck would he be asking our faces when we saw their reaction? That's fucking retarded. Why would you assume he meant that?
