that said, people have been wanting a black widow movie for ages. Scarlet Jo is very capable of carrying a solo action movie, but Feige has likely pulled back on it because the paycheck she demands would be ludicrously high when they may not expect large returns.
for the record: she was the second highest paid star in Age of Ultron after RDJ. she barely did anything in that film other than ride a motorcycle and have some hackneyed romance with Bruce Banner.

while a Squirrel Girl movie might be worth it just for the complaining that book's artist would do when someone even remotely attractive was cast in the lead role, I couldn't see her carrying a film. Venom would wind up being Brock, and I never cared for the character while he had the symbiote.

There is no way to write Black Widow that would please the GIMME A VAGINA THAT CAN FLEX AND EAT BOYS crowd, be well written and still be Black Widow. She's fucking boring. Set dressing moved to the spotlight because the movies needed a token lady.
If you're wanting more movies about female superheroes you should ask for good ones, that way people want more and you don't get proved wrong when they flop hard because they're about uninteresting characters. Gotta be picky. Good first impression to not scare off the suits.
May be fun to think on who should do that though. Spidergwen is popular but that isn't really because of her character writing. Not sure costume design could sell movies.
