I think that would fit better than the "Butch Hartman style".
Also, the other main characters could look like different styles. Big guy like a dbz villain, blond one like modern moe, blue like the 80's shows.

I remember how stupid the show looked and sounded before ever watching it. Seriously, it had the worse description summery imaginable. It wasn't until I actually saw an episode or 2 that I found it to be pretty good and pretty funny if you know who the VA's were. I never thought something like Goku screaming about buying his butts would get me a chuckle.

Mikey is an american actor wannabe that ends up going to Japan and acting on a Tokusatsu show that's basically a live action anime (because the writers diodn't actually watch toku).
Mikey is an idiot American dude.
There is the Asuka clone Tsundere chick, that is basically stuck on the Tsun stage and only pretends she likes Mikey.
There is a Rei clone that is the Kuudere that loves Mikey to a weird degree.
A Brute guy that plays the villain of the show, he is the "Dumb Stronk Nice Dude" stereotype and stuff. He plays the bad guy in the show
There is the show Mascot Pikachu Stereotype, that acts like a real person. I think he was an actual person stuck on a costume.
There is the Boss of the Studio and his assistant. The Boss is the stereotypical cheap bastard that pushes his employees to do crazy stuff to gain/save.

Gonard- Huge guy that thinks with his stomach. Plays the villain in the show, but is an easy-going dude.
Guano-Manlet in a suit. Does the tech and writing stuff, and plays the team mascot. Panics easily.
Lily- Jerk celebrity who plays the soft girl in show. Mikey is infatuated with her.
Mitsuki- Ex-spy and really soft personality. Her in show personality is the serious girl. Likes Mikey and other cute things.
Ozu- Boss director. Cancels LilyMu and yells a lot. Despite his scary demeanor, he likes the crew. Not enough to increase their pay or deal with their shenanigans though.
