It was supposed to be a series about Blade training his daughter in the art of vampire hunting, written by Tim Seeley. Marvel delayed it for whatever reason (maybe the artists fault?) then Seeley signed a DC exclusive so the book got cancelled.
Too many young adults with quirky sense of humor and quips for marvel to handle, they probably saw Squirrel girl and hellcat #1 sales and tought it wasnt worth

How common are cancelled series with the Big Two as of late? Not to start company wars but I've only seen this be an issue Marvel is having. That might be due to them putting out more books right now, I don't know.

Surprisingly common. DC had the Earth 2 Batdad book that got absorbed into the normal Earth 2 book. There's the Shazam book Johns and Frank have been working on for some time but it keeps getting pushed back. Marvel had a number canned a few years back when they had to can a number of their production staff due to downsizing. There was that Doom one Cloonan was working on, Destroyers by Van Lente, and there might have been a third one too but I can't remember it

This stuff at the time wasn't officially announced, it was at a retailer gathering and wasn't really meant for us. And that was literally it, just a slide of some characters. It's likely that plans for Death's Head changed or were eliminated altogether.
