So I finally got around to seeing this, and it was... alright?
While the visuals and choreography were great, I think it really lacked in the story and pacing department, like things were just feeling rushed for the first hour or so of the movie, and a lot of the jokes were really hit or miss. That's not to say I didn't like it, I did, but as I'm sure it's often said, the second movie did things a lot better, in my opinion, of course.
Character wise, I don't think the Furious Five get enough screen-time once again, but I guess that's what the TV show is for? I dunno, I don't personally watch it. Kai was an alright villain, but at least Shen in 2 had a bit of buildup, where here, they just sorta throw him at you.
Music-wise, other than a few pieces, it didn't stick out to me like 2's did, and the Kung Fu Fighting bit felt lame, and that pop song or whatever that played during the credits was horribly cheesy.

What are /co/'s personal thoughts on it?

Oh, and while I wouldn't say it's as good as 2, not even close in my opinion, I think it's at least as good as the first movie.
>>
It was alright, but it wasn't as satisfying for Po's family to suddenly have a magical epiphany, as it might have been if Po had really trained his skills up.
>>
Easily the worst of the three, couldn't get over the fact how little of a fuck they gave to the underlying seriousness of the series. And every character was spouting something fucking stupid every two seconds. If I see this movie again in my life it'll be too soon.
>>

It was even stranger that suddenly everyone, including Tigress and even Po's dad (The Goose) knew how to use Chi or whatever all of a sudden. We didn't see it like how we saw Po mastering inner peace like in the second movie, it was very spontaneous like that. Even Shifu couldn't do anything like they were doing.

>>80407624
I can't help but agree. After 2, it felt like a major step down, characters weren't given time to breath like they were in 2, and as I said, a lot of the jokes were hit or miss, most being miss. There wasn't a whole lot that stood out for me aside from the fight scenes, and it almost feels like people were so critical of 2 for being so serious that they toned it down way too much. I know Po's a goofball, but I don't think he'd really be one to play with toys anymore, let alone play with ancient and valuable weapons and artifacts, and everyone was far too forgiving of Po and his real dad doing all of that.
>>
Oh yeah, another thing I thought was weird was how they reused footage from the last movie, as if this movie had a smaller budget than the last, after checking, 2 had an extra 5 million over 3, which explains it.
Though I do think KFP3 looks slightly better than 2, I was still wowed by 2's visuals more than I was with 3.

>Kung Fu Panda 3
>Po's two dads get ''married''
>adopt Po
>turns out Po is gay too
>has to help him fight prejudice in the dojo
>muh evil bigots
>muh oppression
>two hours of literal gay furry porn
worst movie I've ever seen
>>
>>80408855
>95 minutes
If the movie was actually 2 hours long, I think they would have used that extra time for the pacing, which is something I'd at least hope for, but it's weird how KFP2 is like 3 minutes shorter and does it so much better.
>>
Eh, the series hasnt really clicked with me as much as the first one. Lord Shen was cool I guess, the best thing I can say about 3 is it was nice seeing Oogway again. Although I thought he was defeated too easily
>>
>>80408960
I just wish there were more colorful martial arts and funny side characters, like in Drunken Master.
>>
>>80408855
haven't seen it yet. does po really have two dads?
>>
>>80407624
Agreed.
>>
Compared to 2 it was kinda shitty. I liked some of the banter between Kai and Po but everything else was so average. I also felt like they were kinda rehashing the plot of the second one
>>
>>80406842
Kai had a pretty dope theme song
>>
I fucking loved it! Its not as good as 1 or 2 but after suffering through LOA, I'll take what I can get.
>>
>>80410160
His adopted dad and his biological dad.
>>
>>80411167
I suppose I can see where people criticized it for "Po's repetitive character growth"
>>
>>80411765
Best part of the film honestly

>>
The "two dads" thing was way, way too hamfisted. At first I enjoyed the idea that it didn't matter who your family is as long as they love you, but then the rest of the film CONSTANTLY mentioned it.
>"Thanks dads!"
>"Double-dad attack!"
>"I love my two dads"

I mean fucks sake, it goes straight from nice life lesson to homosexual adoption territory and it becomes weird and disturbing. The point was that neither of the two were gay and by the end it feels like they are much, much closer than they actually are just for the sake of the gay subtext.

Kai's theme was really the only track that stood out for me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq3EKVxYtpk

This scene in particular is really well done, and while some of the visuals in the spirit realm were awesome, it left much to be desired for.

>>80414298
Po's relationship with his real father felt really hamfisted, too. Like, I can understand that it's his real father and all, but it's introduced almost too jokingly that it's hard to take it seriously. It was far too obvious that Po's real dad was hiding something and just keeping him there to do nothing.
>>
A bit more info for Kai would not have hurt.
First he is the broest of bros and as soon as he learned about chi he get just evil.
There were no moment of possible redemption eventhough Tai Lung and Shen had at least one moment.
>>
It was literally co-written by Chinese censors. No shit it was bad.

From the design to the theme, I thought they were going with an immortal Mongolian Warlord coming with a vast army to take China.

Missed opportunity of a lifetime.
>>
>>80414424
I didn't understand why Kai just didn't absorb him when he got the chance, but yeah, what >>80414379 said, Kai should have gotten more character overall. With Shen, and even Tai Lung, we learn a good amount of their history and why they came out the way they did. Tai Lung felt betrayed by his masters and turned to evil, while Shen is told a prophecy and resorts to pretty much genocide, while Kai just sorta shows up, is said to be Oogway's old friend, and that's it.
He was obviously a threat, what with the jade stuff and all, but the movie felt so rushed, which is weird considering how well 2 is paced.

Was there any specific reason why his theme song was basically So Sorry by Imagine Dragons?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0gddT_DDzQ
>>
>Panda village is supposed to be incredibly secret and well hidden
>Tigress finds it with no trouble whatsoever
>Kai finds it with no trouble whatsoever, but you can argue he already knew where it was
Also, the whole Po seemingly training an army in only a few hours seemed so stupid to me. Tigress' reaction basically summed it all up for me.
>>
It was ok. Visuals were great, choreography fantastic, garnered a few chuckles, but we got that in the last two movies. It had some lazy writing cliches like "the liar revealed" plot thread, and having a villain whose bad because fuck you that's why. Seriously though, what was Kai's end goal in all of this? Revenge, yeah, but what was he going to do if he were to win? He didn't really wanna take over the world or anything he just wanted to fuck over Oogway then destroy his legacy.
>>
>>80414484
Probably because you're the only faggot who would ever draw that parallel
>>80414512
I assumed that she was tracking Po like a predator
>>
>>80414512
The directions are ostensibly in oogway's scroll.
That's why she makes sure to grab it before she runs away and that's why Kai lets her escape; he follows her there.
>>
>>80414543
UH OH

>The soundtrack album was released on January 22, 2016.[27] John Powell, who collaborated with Zimmer on the first two films, did not return for the third installment because of his work on Pan and Ice Age: Collision Course. A portion of the score includes a melody from the song "I'm So Sorry" by the rock band Imagine Dragons.

Looks like you're the only faggot here.
Fucking faggot.

So why could everyone use Chi at the end of the movie during that scene when Po's about to be turned to jade? I could understand Tigress and Po's dads, but everyone else? Other than showing them how to make the most out of the skills they already have, he did nothing for them.

Everyone else is a panda, it comes naturally to them.

Mantis was pretty funny.
>Antenna of power!
>Ah it didn't work!
Crane is still my favorite out of the Furious Five, excluding Tigress.
>>
>>80414675
Devilish.
>>
>Still no focus on the five
>Army of kung fu masters including four of the furious five and Shifu job hard to a gang of fatasses
>Po basically gets zero character development
Aside from the visuals, probably the weakest of the trilogy so far. Still hoping for a kung fu tournament plotline.
>>
>whole village of the dumbest, laziest, most worthless species on the planet.

No wonder it wasn't any good.
