Ruby and the remnants of team JNPR have a mission, so that's keeping them together.
Weiss's motivation was just to get far away from her Home and become a huntress. Blake wanted to escape the White Fang, but still help people. Yang just wanted thrills.
Now Weiss's father has brought her back to the place she wanted to escape from. Blake's on the run from a former friend who has promised to kill everyone she forms any bonds with. And Yang's missing her arm and traumatized because of it.

Here's the thing, the original color war was between people who liked color and individuality (the people who won) and those who wanted a world without individuality (probably under the justification that uniformity will lead to a lack of conflict, and thus peace and prosperity.)

Things like distrust are what call the Grimm.
You can argue that the uniform colors and nature of the Grimm, and their connection to Salem, are what imply she was the one on that side of the Color War.
Something tells me Atlas was the one manipulated into being that side too, mainly because they are a military state. The other kingdoms seem like a bunch of hippies.

You guys keep forgetting, the Color War was between people who wanted individuality and color, and people who wanted a grey world of uniformity. The former group won. If Salem ignited the war, that doesn't change the fact that a much more morally ambiguous ideology was a part of that war, and I wouldn't be surprised if what remains of their faction would step up to the plate given the current chaos in Remnant.
It's just that if Salem is the final boss (which she probably is), seeing her be all smug for at least eight years would get REALLY boring. We'll need other villains in the mean time.

Now that's just mean. Pyrrha May be awesome on the battlefield but she was kind of a dork and had her own flaws which made her more human. You're like all her in-universe fans that bought the picture of her being an untouchable mighty being when in reality she was just a girl that knows how to fight well.
For her team she was a friend first. I specially liked how Nora was qble to see through Pyrrha with ease. I would've liked to see more JNPR moments between them. Hopefully some flashback will deliver.

Actually, I kind of had a hunch Penny would get killed. It's sort of a trope to kill off the innocent, well-meaning character that isn't as deeply intwined with the plot as everyone else. This is mostly done to really sell a series because everyone (including the in-universe characters) will go "they did nothing wrong" and the death of an innocent is enough to push for our heroes to continue their fight, because it reminds them what they're supposed to do. Prevent shit like this from happening. Penny was unarguably the closest thing to a purely innocent and pure character in the series. She only had a loose grasp of the ongoing conflicts in Remnant, and her only motivations were to be friends with Ruby and fight a little in the tournament. Her death wasn't particularly obvious and there weren't any real flags in what inspired her (Pinnochio was a purely lighthearted story) but anyone familiar with things like this would have seen it coming.
