Both characters have a unique shape. One is squat with a round nose, the other is long with a curved nose. You can instantly tell them apart even if you only saw their shapes as black outlines against a white background.
Their eyes also have both pupils and white, whereas most tumblrshit only has two black because actual eyes are apparently weird or gross or whatever their justification for rarely drawing them is.
Also note how even their shoes are differently shaped and distinctive.
They're simple, but still well-designed.

Star Vs. and Gravity Falls look the most similar out of those three and even then there are obvious differences. Gravity Falls does the Simpsons-eye thing and makes kids under their teens comically short, Star Vs. has visible eye colors and proportions that are a bit more realistic.
If someone thinks side characters from all three shows look identical then they're pretty much confirmed for not actually watching any of them and only having seen promotional images/posts on /co/. A lot of animated shows, now and in the past, can look similar if you've only seen a few images.
