I guess so. But her late mice bodyguards were named Meerna and Alexei, not very French names. While the hamsters are named Bramonti, which may be Italian.
Maybe they actually are speaking English as lingua franca and Chochi's mistakes are actually the mistakes the characters make due to speaking a foreign language.

The setting seems like kind of a mishmash of different western European cultures. I see a lot of French, Italian, and even Spanish influence. It's a fantasy setting so you can get a little freestyle with it.
Beatriz definitely comes off as very French though. Also, Chochi apparently has a thing for Edith Piaf. Both this pic and >>79745794 reference her.
