I think it was more The Flash that proved the WB started to embrace the fantastic elements of the source material. Just took to Arrow as an example. Now to be entirely fair, this is more of a recent shift. Right up until MoS, as well as the success of Arrow and The Flash, WB basically wanted NOTHING to do with their cape properties, aside from Batman and Superman to a lesser extent.
You can't blame people for feeling the way they did when Marvel had their own cinematic universe well into like, Phase 2 or whatever while WB was kinda standing around, shuffling their feet going, "Well...people don't really care about anything other than Batman or Superman."
Just a few years ago one WB executive was saying that no one wanted a WW movie. Now we're getting one next year.

Samefag here. Also to put things in a greater perspective, Marvel was busy giving people a Guardians of the Galaxy movie, and that was a team that NO ONE EVER thought would get a movie ten fucking years ago. Literally a team of, to mainstreamers, nobodies, and then Marvel put together a movie about them and made it a huge critical and commercial success. It was pretty much WB getting blown the fuck out when they couldn't even get a movie with some of their biggest properties, like Wonder Woman or a GL reboot, out before then.

Well yeah. That's kinda what I was implying. Marvel Studios pretty much blew WB right the fuck out and WB is playing catch up now to get some of that sweet superhero audience. They're doing a pretty good job so far, but in fairness, DC make up half of what most normies associate with superhero comic books, and yet they still couldn't give us anything more than Batman or Superman up until now.
I also suspect a lot of different people are in charge now. We have Zack Snyder and Geoff Johns running the show now, for better or worse, and at least they love superheroes and want to translate them to the big screen.

This. I'm hyped as fuck for BvS and I have hope that it's even going to be good.
But it won't be better than SS or CA3. Maybe I'll enjoy it more than CA3 since I'm a bigger fan of DC and I might 'get more' out of it. I think it'll end up being a flawed, but good movie. At least they're taking criticisms of MoS into account.
