However, that's still not the longest time between two. Currently, that's tied between the wait for 'Aggy: Extrapolate' (04 Mar 2014) and the last update on Halloween, which are both tied at an astonishing 93-day drought. Honestly, at this point I'm not so concerned about making my art good as I am with making it easy to imitate. Whenever you have a job that can only be done by one person, you risk bottlenecking - I've learned as much the hard way. If anything, tart fundamentals someone in my position really needs to focus on are the things that a whole team can go on to use: color choices, character design, environment planning, etc.
Even then, I try not to call myself an artist because it's really not my favorite part of making things. Eventually on future projects I hope to transition to having other people handle the art while I just write text and design documents. I won't feel like I've lost some crucial part of my identity for moving away from it.

Taking into account that you yourself said this comic is your personal experiment, don't you think learning and improving would only lead you to be faster, more efficient and contribute to your ability to create new forms and directions to take your comic, and your overall work? Or make it easier for your minions to gut and decipher it? It's not about complexity necessarily.
When is the last time a user comment had a real impact on the comic? Between the sparse updates and the emphasis on flash, it feels like it's not even a thing anymore. The Dodger comic went back to using fake comments and suggestions as if the comic itself still did that.
Has anybody here even had their comment get used in the comic? Under ideal circumstances, would you need to post within hours of the update happening to even have a chance? How does it work when there are literal months between updates?
If Kaz gets back into form, I wonder if the comment thing will be tweaked or brought back better. I've been following Prequel for years but I honestly never felt like I had any impact on the direction of the comic at all. Maybe I was never supposed to. It's Kaz's show, after all.

It is an experiment! One of the things I uncovered was simply that I don't like drawing all that much.
One of the reasons I started Prequel was actually so I could get better at drawing backgrounds. Then, after drawing the panel in the attached image, a friend pointed out to me that I was mostly writing and doing basically no backgrounds. These days, my backgrounds are much better because I get a person who liked the writing to draw them for me. It didn't really go as planned, but I'm happy with the outcome. I like writing.
I'm not against learning about drawing, but I'm slowly coming to accept that it's more efficient to leave it up to other people who are more specialized in it. And I'm not really sad about that, I guess.

I don't think Prequel would work well as an all-at-once release. I mean, the user commands do play a role, even if it's not terribly obvious, and working from them is fun.
I do like game design though. Like, planning big things that release all at once and can be played a bunch of different ways. Precede was a lot of fun to make, and I really enjoy nonlinear writing like in Extrapolate. I should probably work to sideline those desires when working on a comic where people just want a damn update, though.
