Honestly, almost all animators/cartoonists have fetishes. I think if you're able to roll with it, you'll be fine. The main reason we pick on Dobson is that he's a very stubborn artist who refuses to improve and also has too many opinions he assumes are fact (Macs are better just because they're nicer). We pick on his inflation fetish because we want to take him down a peg.
Whereas we don't do that to Opik because Opik is a good artist who does improve.

Whilst I think it's a good idea to read into a creator in order to better understand their art, it's not fair to judge a creator's work based on completely unconnected pieces of work or their own beliefs.
The above only works for stand alone works such as Prestons lesbian kick comic series, his own strip where he shares his own garbage opinions does not get this immunity because he is using his art to flat out communicate his thoughts and feelings; he has often criticised others for sexually depicting women when he himself has drawn 'smut' with the express intent to induce lust.
On the other end of the spectrum Abaddon (author/artist of Kill six billion demons) has been known to draw the same fetish, however he keeps that seperate from his work and is all in all a decent human being.
