Most of us are familiar with the "Marvel Method"
>Take an average/less than average person
>Put him through some crisis
>Give him superpowers
>Learn personal lesson

So what's the DC Method then?
>>
>>78993837
Same thing. It's why Marvel stole it from DC.
>>
>>78993837
>Take an above average person.
>Put them through a mild headache.
>Now you have a Lantern ring.
>>
>>78993837
>So what's the DC Method then?

Take someone that is exceptional, give him powers, make him face 12 herculian works, turn him into a god
>>
>>78993837
>take person
>attach to Batman
>done

I have never touched a DC comic
>>
>Take an average person
>Give him superpowers
>Put him through some crisis
>Learn personal lesson maybe?

Basically.
>>
>take a character
>reboot
>take that character
>reboot
>reboot the reboot
>cancel series
>invest money saved from canceling series into new batman book
>>
>>78993837
That's not what the "Marvel Method" is.
You could call it the Marvel formula maybe...
>>
>>78993837
Marvel method
>take person
>apply fitting/ironic power
>assign to faction
>infighting and power politics across dimensions and ages

Leth Method
>take character
>tweenoform character
>look how quirky this is!
>>
>>78994168
>take a character
>reboot
>take that character
>reboot
>reboot the reboot
>cancel series
>take the character and put them in a team book to be killed off later
>>
>take an average/less than average person
>put him through some crisis
>give him the power to overcome crisis
>learn personal lesson

>everything ever
>>
>>78994402
thank god I'm not alone...
>>
>>78993837
that's not the Marvel Method.

>>78994402
>>78995374
these guys are right.

the Marvel Method is to produce the all interior artwork from a basic plot script and then the writer writes in the dialogue to match the already finished artwork as opposed to the Full Script which DC uses where the writer writes the entire comic panel by panel, setting up the framing and poses the artist would use.

that's not the marvel method
>>
>>78993837
I thought Marvel Method meant half ass a story and let your artist do most the work.
>>
>>78994402

So it's 7 posts before someone who actually reads comic shows up on /co/, good to know.
>>
I thought the Marvel Method was when you refuse to fairly compensate Jack Kirby for his work?
>>

DC method
>take a fantastic person
>give them powers and or crazy villains
>half the time get a well adjusted personal life with friends and family that have nothing to do with superhero related crap other half of the time is shit like Hal where you basically only hang out with aliens and are technically a crazy homeless person.

>>78993837
>take cool hero
>do a good story with him
>do absolutely nothing with him for the next 5 years
>bring him back in a awesome ongoing
>no marketing
>gets cancelled
>>
>take a once profitable company
>run it into the ground
>>
>>78993837
>Take a person who was once normal
>Have an accident occur to them that make them result in super-powers
>Characters realize they should use power for good
>They become superhero

One exception would be Batman though...
>>
>>78993837
remove all their more interesting family members for the sake of brand synergy and movie-friendly storytelling easily packaged in trade paperpacks and hardcovers

yes, i'm still mad
>>
>>78995953
You'd need to read beyond the comics to know the Marvel Method, wouldn't you?
