Russo Bros. on MCU Spiderman

>“We took a very personal approach to the character,” explained Joe Russo. “He was my favorite character growing up, so the opportunity to bring Spider-Man to the screen is a dream come true. It's something that I spent a lot of time thinking about as a kid. We had thought back to the things that excited us about him as a character when we were younger, and one of the most important components of that was that he's a high schooler burdened with incredible powers and responsibility. That really differentiates him from every other character in the Marvel universe as opposed to other superheroes. For us, it was extremely important that we cast somebody very close to the age of a high school student. The previous films had adults playing a high schooler. We wanted more of an authenticity to the casting. We were very specific about that. We wanted an energy and charisma from the character, an energy, but also an insecurity that would make him fun to watch in contrast to the confident superheroes.

>It was also important to us that the actor that was cast feel contemporary because the other films that portrayed where he lived is more... they honored the comic books in terms of the choices. But you go look at the home that Tobey Maguire lived in in Raimi’s Spider-Man was... those were very expensive homes. We wanted to relate it to the reality…”

He means Aunt May's house. But to be fair, Uncle Ben had a good job before being laid off in the beginning of the movie, and the house was eventually foreclosed and repossesed by the bank.

>Raimi's movies are fantastic. Spider-Man one and two are amazing. Two, is one of if not my favorite comic book movie of all time. But he made a very strong choice with those movies from a color palate standpoint to a costume standpoint, execution standpoint, camerawork standpoint to honor the feeling of the comic book. We're trying to honor the feeling of naturalism and to honor the feeling of reality. The harder we can pull these characters into reality, the better for us, especially because we're all so connected now through social media, the Internet. We're all so dialed in to what's happening in current events. That it's important for us that these characters live in the world that we live in because it makes them more real and it makes our experience of watching them more passionate and more well-rounded.”

I recall a rumor where Spidey's first costume is supposed to look like one he could have made himself, and then Tony Stark makes him one inspired by Iron Spider.
Which is how I would want legs incorporated into the costume: not right away, and with the help of someone else
>>
>>78812171
Sources. Show them.

There is a reason why Tom Holland was able to film his scenes so fast...
>>
>>78812257
>I recall a rumor where Spidey's first costume is supposed to look like one he could have made himself, and then Tony Stark makes him one inspired by Iron Spider.

Already disproven. Feige has gone on record saying they're staying true to the red and blue costume.

The Iron Spider armor rumor just needs to die.
>>
>>78811859
>The previous films had adults playing a high schooler.
True although he was a Senior and in the case of Raimi's Spider-Man he's only a high schooler in his origin and Raimi was mostly aiming for college age Spidey, which IMO it's the best Spidey since he's still in school, still worries for paying rent and taking care of his aunt but without having to answer to her where he's been, he doesn't have a curfew and he can go places and touch themes that you can't with a High school Spidey.

Plus he has access to science equipment and meets characters who would be more believable in a College environment than in a high school.

You would lose the bully thing with Flash Thompson shit but that is so overdone.

Honestly I rather see Kamala for a more high school oriented super hero.
>>
>>78812294
>There is a reason why Tom Holland was able to film his scenes so fast...

Because he doesn't need to actually be on set when they film scenes with Spider-man having the mask on?

Because he isn't in that much of the movie. He is in a recruiting scene with Tony Stark, then a random battle and the grand finale. He'll probably have like 8 minutes of screen time. Maximum.

Jon Watts has been saying this since he was announced to direct.

http://comicbook.com/2015/07/29/jon-watts-talks-directing-the-john-hughes-version-of-spider-man/

>"The thing that everyone keeps saying is that it’s sort of like the John Hughes version of Spider-Man, which I think is a really cool take on it,” Watts told the Daily Beast. “He’s in high school, and the questions that that raises I think we haven’t explored as much as we can. In the comics so much of it was about him juggling his high school life and trying to be a superhero. I think there’s a lot to do there."

I'm not feeling the hype for Spidey. I mean, ever since 2002, it feels like we've been getting reboots of Spidey over and over through comics, movies and tv shows. What can they do that makes this new reboot fresh besides him quipping with the Avengers?

But again, we haven't seen Marvel put the pressure on those guys like they have with Favrou and Whedon. Gunn is lucky enough that cosmic Marvel is far removed from Earth stuff, but just imagine them going "Hey, could you somehow make Cassie Lang Stature in your next film" to Peyton, or "Hey Russos, could you fit Inhumans into the plot here?" Sure, everything is building to Infinity Wars, but Marvel will probably be setting up a lot of other things post Phase 3, and that could go every which way.

Yes, Gunn and Russos proved their worth, (Peyton I'm holding out on cause he had Wright's script), but that was their first outing. They could be pressured and break easily.

Thing is
>>They took away civilian deaths because of Man of Steel's bad reaction, so to keep the film light.

Secondly, why do people hate the farmhouse scene so much? It was necessary breather after how stupidly fast paced everything before it was. Right after Ultron attacks the penthouse, it's like 2 scenes and suddenly Iron Man Cap and Thor just APPEAR behind Ultron on the boat. Like no explanation on how they got there, they just appeared and Ultron goes "Let's fight!" It's ridiculously fast paced. And yet people complain about the farm scene? If that wasn't there, it would be immediately "Let's go to South Korea!"
The film would have just been a string of action scenes if it weren't for that farmhouse scene, which wasn't that bad. I don't get why people act like that's he biggest problem in the film.

It'll feel a lot like TWS, just instead of Cap+BW+Falcon vs Hydra Feat. Bucky it'll be Cap+Bucky+Falcon vs SHIELD Feat. Iron Man and co.

Just TWS 2.0, more heroes. I highly doubt any of the non-Cap characters will have any decent developments in the movie.

Tony'll just be a smug ass until someone dies and calls the whole thing off, saying its his fault, and the media praising him for his humility

Unless Vision and Wanda get together, I dont see anything outside of an explanation for their powers

As for Spidey, I really think people are blowing his role out of proportion. We'll get a fly by of him in his junk costume, Tony recruiting him, and him in his new suit vs Cap in the final team fight. That'll be it, really. Aunt May will probably be over the phone, or as a "you forgot your lunch!" thing.
>>
>>78815036
You're not getting what I'm saying. If there was less stuff in the film, maybe it would have been a more balanced product. But so much of the time felt like there were billboards promoting the next product. (Kind of like how Marvel events always hint at the next event)

I surprisingly didn't mind the Nat and Bruce scene. I enjoyed the Hawkeye stuff and Tony/Steve banter.
Did those scenes really seem that slow to you? It seems like movies these days are getting faster and faster that I can't even understand what's happening most of the time.
>>
>>78815699

I never said they were better too. Iron Man 2's fault was combining Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo.

Dude, RDJ, Hemsworth, Evens and probably more actors' contracts expire at Infinity Wars. They can't just do these films indefinitely and changing the cast would probably make people more unsatisfied.
They have to do this film now cause it's the last time Iron Man and Cap will get to fight, because it's unlikely they will survive Infinity Wars.
>>
>>78815751
Iron Man 2's fault was Feige forcing Favreaue to make an Avenger's prequel instead of the movie he wanted.
>>
>>78815823

If they wanted an Avengers prequel, they should have just stuck with what they got in the actual Avengers movie. Yes, we fucking get it, they'll fucking assemble.
>>
>>78815751
>Iron Man 2's fault was combining Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo.
If that's what you think went wrong with Iron Man 2, then you have a very bad sense of storytelling.

>because it's unlikely they will survive Infinity Wars.

I thought Chris's contract extended to Infinity Wars.
>>
>>78815177

I think it'll be a Cap movie in that it'll follow his perspective/re-building his relationship with Bucky more so than it'll follow Tony or anyone else.
>>
>>78815863
Just like how every MCU film now has to go "Hey, Thanos is coming with Infinity Wars! Are you hyped yet?"
>>
>>78815901
Chris's might, but Chris's definitely doesn't.
>>
>>78815933

So, Bucky will take over as the new Captain America and we'll get New Avengers?
>>
>>78815901
We thought the same thing with Quicksilver's too.

Let's face facts, Evens said he wanted to quit acting soon. If that's the case, why would he sign up for more Captain America films, a character that people for some reason are tittering on edge to die so Bucky can replace him?
Just remember, these people can lie.
>>
>>78815106

I liked the farmhouse scene because it shows that Hawkeye is human as fuck and that's what makes him an endearing Avenger. People talk about Batman's humanity being what makes him such a good leader on the Justice League - that he has to work twice as hard as everyone else to keep pace with gods, geniuses, and titans. I feel like Hawkeye is somewhat like that, but with no major fan following to back it up.

Obviously, MCU-wise, he's a trained government agent, which is the same as Widow, so he's no scrub. But I liked the farmhouse scene because while every Avenger is talented and powerful but carries some form of baggage, Hawkeye is just a hard-working guy with a family he wants to protect.

My theory is, by that point, Disney manages to acquire rights to F4, Doom is done right, and then they become the flagship franchise for the MCU.

And I hate the Fantastic Four, but if GotG and Ant-Man proved anything, it's that Disney can put asses in seats.

Possible, but what I see is some scene where some device is going to explode and take out the entire universe, and Tony, Steve and Thor pull a Spock and deactivate it, but end up killing themselves, and they are wiped away by a white light.

Not gonna say that it'll happen exactly like that, but I can definitely see the big three dying in a heroic sacrifice at the end of Infinity Wars.

Nope.

After Cap dies they go their separate ways. Cap's team are forced into retirement.

Vision leaves Earth to investigate cosmic matters.

Scarlet Witch lives with Hawkeye but then meets up with Strange. He trains her the mystic arts and witchcraft in the Dark Dimension.

Thor, Hulk, Vision, Scarlet Witch, and Doctor Strange will all be traversing the universe in lead-up/IWPt1 leaving Earth with weaker protection.

T'Challa has his own stuff to deal with. Wakanda may be attacked by Thanos while the big-shots are away.

Ant-Man and Wasp exploring multi-verse.

>“For us, we really are firm believers in stakes. We like movies with high highs and low lows and we just feel like you get a more well-rounded experience in that type of film. Now that we’re engaged in serialized storytelling, it starts with Winter Soldier and ends with the Infinity War movies. We feel it's very important that those four films, Civil War, and both Infinity War movies, have a very profound effect on the audience. I think a lot of shocking things are going to happen, which is really interesting because you haven't had this kind of... maybe other than Harry Potter, I guess you can count the Bond series… but the kind of investment over a period of time with this many characters behaving in a universe. I think our job is to send you on a very profound experience between now and 2019 and it starts with Civil War. I don't know if people will be prepared for what this movie is going to include.”

Jesus don't. It's silly people in silly outfits fighting more silly people in sillier outfits, in a blockbuster Disney production where the good guy beats the bad guy in the end. It's not going to have a profound effect on me, it's just entertainment cinema.

I'd like the waldoes for civil war, but it'd be weird for him to have them in his first solo movie.

Maybe have it that either Toney hit the skillswitch, or Peter dismantled the suit and sold the parts seperateley for cash since he wouldn't be able to afford maintaining/repairing it

although for the sake of synergy I could see them having him hanging onto the suit 'just in case' and in the third movie he upgrades it to the tech suit in current ASM

all these fags bringing up inaccurate "you've never read a spidey comic" are probably to referring to yet ultimate again, which is a reimagining of original idea, it is true in ultimate he spends in highschool a good amount of the whole run's publication history

the framing around eyes on both masks is not thick enough, but raimi's one is closer to the romita look which I think is the true timeless image of spidey
