The Imperials die on this show, usually by other Imperial hands. A fan favorite was beheaded and the other one willingly fell into an exploding reactor core to not face Vader's wrath. Another Imperial favorite was caught in a shuttle explosion to be used as a false flag operation to paint the rebels as bloodthirsty killers.

I like to think that chopper is actually an old buzz droid brain someone shoved into an astromech chassis when they needed a cheap droid. It really explains how he knows how to quickly disable the vital systems of a ship from the outside, as well as his murderous tendencies.
