Superman TAS > Batman TAS

>search your feelings, you know it to be true
>>
>>78706969
Superman is objectively a worse character, so no.
>>
>>78706969
>More quality episodes
>Better animation for the most part
>Was a gateway for the JL series
Well you are right, but my inner batfag is saying fuck you
>>
>whynotboth.jpg
>>
I couldn't stand STAS as a kid. The stories were boring, even the art style looked horrendous to me, even though I liked Batman just fine.
I don't know what it was, there's something very very different that used to put me off.
>>
>>78707208
I felt the same way for a long time, but as i get older, i like STAS more. BTAS had better peaks (Amost Got Im is my favorite) but they really found their footing with Supes, and if you actually watch the series from start to finish, there's a lot more world building than Batman, ie: none at all.
>>
>>78706969

I prefer STAS but batman had that fucking great atmosphere

why can't there be a new superman and batman game set in the TAS universes? god fucking damn
>>
>>78706969
dey bofe gud.
i've been rewatching both lately. Trying to stick to chronological release but I accidentally got a bit ahead. I know Joker's Millions comes right after World's Finest, so you've gotta watch STAS to that point before TNBAing any further
>>
>>78707749
They made some back in the day, they were all pretty crummy despite (or maybe because of) using the original actors (like maybe that was their whole budget)
>>78706969
My sister certainly thought so. When we'd watch batman-superman-adventures we'd change the channel if it was a batman, because she was bored.. it was a compromise so we could peaceably share the tv
>>
>>78706969
I haven't watched it in a while but my favorite episode is probably the one where the guy deduces that Clark Kent is Superman right before being executed
>>
>>78706969
Probably not as many "great" episodes but it was consistent and still had it's fair share of memorable episodes. Just about every episode with Darkseid or Brainiac is great.
>>
Honestly the only episodes of STAS I remember are ones with Darkseid, and the Livewire episode, yet I know I always tuned in for it. BTAS, on the other hand, I remember the majority of episodes vividly. I think BTAS was more gripping.
>>
I agree. Batman had more memorable episodes, but Superman actually had a decent story that lead into Justice League and payed off big time in Unlimited.
>>
>>78707208
I couldn't either the only episode that's ever stood out to me was the one where Supes is taken over by darkseid (I think) and Kara has to fight him, but As I get older I'm not even sure that episode actually happened
>>
>>78706969

In terms of consistency and having a greater number of quality episodes, you are correct.

However, BTAS has STAS beat in terms of the quality of the quality episodes.

At its best, BTAS stood above STAS, but the problem was it wasn't at its best the vast majority of the time.
>>
>>78706969
It was good, but it really not as great as great as Batman. Especially the first two seasons. Maybe because so much time has passed since its first aired, but people severely underestimate the effect BTAS had on the animation television landscape. It was dark, it was Art Deco. Without BTAS you don't get to Gargoyles, you don't get to Justice League. If you're talking just pure influence STAS doesn't come anywhere close to BTAS.
>>
I think most would agree Superman TAS had a much more satisfying finale. Batman TAS just sort've ended.
>>
Stas loses automatically it didn't spawn anything like batman beyond

I like superman better as a character, I enjoyed STAS more than BTAS as a whole, but as much as I prefer Supes, Batman has better villains, which are gonna get more of the spotlight in an episodic medium.
So as much as I like STAS I can't say it's better.
>>
>>78710254

You're right.

It spawned something like Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.
>>
The best episodes of STAS are better than the best of BTAS, but all the filler or mediocre episodes are generally better in BTAS

>but as much as I prefer Supes, Batman has better villains, which are gonna get more of the spotlight in an episodic medium
>episodic

STAS made up for this by actually having story arcs, which is a large part of why I actually find STAS preferable.
>>
Knight Time was a god-tier crossover, or at least better than the mediocre shitfest that is World's Finest.
>>
It was mediocre as hell. The only good episodes are the ones involving Darkseid, Metallo, Bizarro, Mxyzptlk and Lobo. The rest is a snore.
>>
Superman definitely stomps on TNAB&R but doesn't come close to the atmosphere and mature noir style of the original BTAS. Batman has higher highs but lower lows.
>>
>>78715221

So, yeah, better than BTAS.
>>
>>78715296
No, fuck off superfag.
It was unwatchable 90 percent of the time.

...So, yeah, better than BTAS.
>>

>Batman
>lower lows

Get a load of this nigga, BTAS was peaks and fucking valleys all the way through(there were episodes that were abysmally shitty). Superman had consistent quality all through out.
>>
>>78715371
Ebin, simply ebin.
>>
Why did Supes always have black dots for eyes? I hated that. Also BTAS had a far better soundtrack.

I can't comprehend why a grown man would be this upset by people not sharing his own beliefs on a children's cartoon.

one of my favorite scenes was the last scene from the invisible man episode in BTAS. When the kid is talking to him from her window and telling him whats going on. Its cute and kinda deep. especially after you see him sitting on the roof of the house silently walking away, dark protector of Gotham and all that.
>>
Yeah pretty much. BTAS has better highs but STAS is easily better all around. BTAS might be the worst of the main DCAU (BTAS, Beyond, STAS, JL, JLU) shows if we're being wholly honest.
>>
>>78715029
the last part of that ep had me in tears dude.
>>
>>78715114
World's Finest was ok until they started shitting on Mercy for the sake of comedy.

>>78715415
They colored in his sclera whenever he used his eye powers, that was probably weirder than him not having it normally.
>>
>>78715873

Everyone remembers it for episodes like HEart of Ice, Growing Pains and Mad Love, but no one seems to remember the bevy of I've Got Batman In My Basement, Cat Scratch Fever and The Terrible Trio we had to wade through.

On the whole STAS doesn't have episodes that really stand out as amazing like BTAS, but it also doesn't have nearly as many episodes that are nigh unwatchable.
>>
>>78707311
>there's a lot more world building than Batman, ie: none at all.

I couldn't even tell when Batman was supposed to be set half the time.

One episode it's all 1950s esque and then next boom modern day

I think on /co/ actually most people do tend to remember the down parts, to the point where maybe they overstate things. BTAS is certainly still a good show, but damn. There were a lot of garbage episodes. Pretty much every episode featuring a non-comic and/or animal-based villain needs to be outright skipped.

That's another thing: I feel like Superman had a lot more pathos as a character in his series for all the allegations that Batman is more "human" or "relatable". In BTAS, Batman often felt a little flat and one-dimension whereas everyone else had pathos and depth for him. In STAS, perhaps because of the overarching plot, you see a lot more of Superman's emotional highs and lows and get the sense that he's a much more tragic and complex character at times, especially when he fails to save Dan Turpin.

In general it feels like they took more risks with Superman in certain areas.
>>
>>78715029
this and the darkseid fight are the only memorable things about the STAS
>>
>>78716902

I disagree.
>>
>>78716744
I lost my shit when Darkseid first appeared then when the big arc happened. Was a kid, no idea who Darkseid was before then... but he was such a powerful threat that I remember being in awe.
>>
>>78716902
Lex's general dickishness and manipulation of most of the villains was pretty memorable. Great Lois was great as well.
>>
>>78716979

Bizarro was memorable, if you ask me. Metallo too. And Lobo, of course.

There was also episodes like The Late Mr. Kent and Brave New Metropolis which stuck with me.
>>
>>78717003
>>78716979
>>78716979

Also Parasite and Livewire were pretty great, especially in the episode where they teamed up.
>>
>>78716895
StaS is the best Superman in the DCAU. he was pretty shit in Justice league and JLU. though both him and batman weren't that great there. batman went full batgod and Superman was always fucking angry and whiny. everyone else was fine, but mostly because they had no previous show to base them on.

same for some of the criminals, like Bizzarro, who was more 3 dimensional in StaS, but is a throwaway villain in JL.

Watching it now, Supes' gallery doesn't have nearly the kind of ubiquity of Batman's or the camaraderie of Flash's but they each stand as their own entities. Mxyzptlk was great too.
>>
Superman actually got a real 3nding, and it's one of the best finales a cartoon has ever gotten. Im not sure what the last batman ep even was. I think the one where two face became a judge?

Anyway I agree op.
>>
Watching through this for the first time now. Lobo is fucking shit.
>>
>>78716627
I feel like STAS isn't the best Superman material as it tried too hard to ground him, but they really did good with the Clark Kent reporter angle sometimes.
>>
>>78717806
You'll almost never see Superman's enemies team up the way Batman's and Flash's do (there are a couple handfuls of stories, but they're few and far between and always considered a big deal when it actually happens), but that's not necessarily a flaw when they're so varied and strong as standalone antagonists.
>>
>>78708579
This is the only correct answer.
>>
>>78717523
you weebs really know to show who's more obnoxious
>>
>>78717864
The last Batman ep was where it turned out Terry was Bruce's son.
>>
>>78706969
Both are great.

I agree with OP, but like most people here I think its because BTAS was first. It took them a while to find their feet and to refine their animation and develop the show.

By the time STAS came around they were experienced and could take all the tips and tricks they learnt from BTAS and apply them to STAS. Later, they took the combined skill and experience from STAS and created Justice League, which is simply amazing.

Its got naught to do with the characters and everything to do with the simple fact that Dini and co got better over time. Watch the first episode of BTAS and compare it to the last, you can see the development.
>>
>>78720506
that was in a different show years later
