The run up to interdimensional Field Trip was pretty hype, mainly because it was the first proper fore into 'what if Star took other people on a magical adventure'
We went up and down about ideas on how it would go, what Star would do, where they'd go, what Marco would do. One of the big talking points was centered on if Marco would show his stuff in front of the class. It was a pretty even split between:
1) Marco being a badarse finally
2) Marco being a massive spaghetti lord

That was when the Starco shipping truly reached crazy ass levels, and the start of the Tom cucking. And many a lewd idea was had when Star let Marco stay in her room when she was changing. And the first time we heard the Bloodmoon song and saw Star and Marco dance. Those were some good times.

So a few things about Toffee are fairly obvious, like Luto he's a byproduct of the Monster Massacre, however while Luto is obsessed with obtaining the power of magic that Star possesses, he is only interested in destroying it.
Also of note that he sabotages the whole fortune cookie thing and is happy when it fails, his goal is to drive a wedge between monsters and to convince Star that a peace process if futile before she can get reconciliation ideas in that impressionable head of theirs.
Toffee lets slip that Luto is 'not the first monster' who's been taken in by the Muman's magic before. He's talking about himself.
With his regenerative abilities, chances are Toffee is a lot older than he appears. We're also clearly reminded of Marco's arm being possessed at the beginning of the final episode.
Toffee is deliberately paralleled with Marco.
From this I can make a few educated guesses:
1) Toffee had a relationship very analogous to Marco with whatever to-be queen took over Muni and caused the monster massacre.
2) That confidence was betrayed at some point, judging from the thanksgiving like references in the Munipendance day episodes, it was likely some serious colonizing backstabbing.
3) Toffee's regenerative abilities are likely a byproduct of the magic of the wand, adding to his desire to destroy it
4) Toffee's end goal (besides the destruction of magic) is to cause another ethnic conflict Mumen's and the Monsters with the Mumen lacking their magic that swung things in their favor the last time
5) He will likely succeed, with the Mumen deciding to move to -- and colonize -- Earth thus beginning the vicious cycle all over again.

Yeah IDFT was the standout time for me. When the artwork for that got posted the thread went nuts, so much fun speculating. Had the whole range of ideas brought up and discussed. Even still no one really got close to what happened in the end. The Janna and Jackie hunger after that took off as well, and Skullnick redemption was the cherry on top.
As for cute and perfect, the notion of it has been around for so long in these threads. BMB certainly helped cement it in, but people recognize early on just how great the relationship Star and Marco have.

Hey I was looking forward to Marco grows a beardthough I will admit it was directly proportionate to if/how Marco interacted with Jackie in IDFT, was a bit of a let down but hey was a fun episode for Star at least.
As for the whole cute and perfect thing, I'm almost certain it caught on as a result of the final scene in BMB. Many Starco fans were pretty up in arms about how sweet that scene was, and how good their chemistry was. Add in the large number of fan content related to that scene and you have your saying ingrained in the thread.
