What makes Lego videogames great IS the Lego. The creative design of the props, the imaginative animations, and the nifty reassemblies. It's all about making a videogame version of playing with real Lego sets. If you took the same writing and fighting gameplay and made it a regular game, it'd be a truly abominable licensed game.
The Lego shows, however, are only like that because it's really cheap to animated.

What are you talking about? Lego Games usually don't remove characters. The only ones I can think of that get removed are mooks that are no longer needed.
This game is removing the Spider-Man, GotG, X-Men and FF characters because they want to focus on the Avengers, not due to lack of space.
I hope they make another Star Wars game with this many characters. I just hope they can figure out how to make all the characters more unique. Because every character was fell into one of four molds:

I have to say, it is a hard choice for me between Lego Marvel Superheroes and Lego Batman 3. LMS has the best hub in the games so far and those tiny planets in LB3 make me dizzy the way they spin when you fly around. However, LB3 offers more variety in its "bigfigs". They usually do something else beyong just being strong, while in LMS the smashing stuff is all they are good for.

My personal order, from what I've played of them, is:
The other Lego games > Indiana Jones 2 > Batman 1 > Indiana Jones 1.
All three have a big problem with a lack of level creativity. Batman 1 had a further problem in that it had too many abilities, so changing characters in freeplay was a huge pain in the ass. And Indiana Jones 1 was just... not good at all.
Also, if you're talking about Batman 1, isn't the "sliding bit" in the ice level? Where, halfway through, you had one shot to go through 5 hard-to-reach checkpoints on a slide and if you failed you had to start the level again. That was AWFUL.

I tend to go for 100% in Lego games and this bit haunts me to this day. It's right before the very end, it is quite tough and you get only one shot at it. If you miss one gate, you have to do the entire level all over again. Fucking nightmare.
Probably, the only Lego games I didn't 100% besides that one were Lego Movie: the Game and Jurassic World. I don't know why, I just wasn't very into them. Shit, I even finished Lego Hobbit, even though it didn't have the entire story in it.

They only completely removed Clayface. Two-Face, Ra's al Ghul, and Scarecrow are only available as the Nolan versions in DLC.

I really wish the lego games were never made. Because of these games we never get real super hero games anymore. The games have a wide appeal and all, but I get so tired of the one dimensional combat, and the stupid building puzzles that are pretty much just rehashes.
That being said, if you are a fan of collecting shit in games and/or have some friends and inebriates the games are somewhat fun.

You're completely wrong. It's because of mobile gaming we don't get major superhero games anymore. Why spend the money and effort on a big budget game when you can slap together a cheap mobile tie in with lots of micro transactions? The cost to profit ratio must be a lot better.
If anything Lego Marvel games are one of the few games still doing something above mobile level. Yeah they're fairly simple but they have lots of content and appreciation of the thing they're adapting.
