Thanks for posting OP.
I hated the inconsistency of the art, but the Vandal Savage parts were good. I guess they need to move things along though so putting everything together in this annual worked best for that instead of just having one book take the lead.
Pretty good but not I really don't see the point in retconning Kryptonian influence to the origin of Vandal's meteor though I'm sure that will be important when Clark gets his powers back

I recognize what they're doing with Clark right now, but it really annoys me to see him so far down on the power scale.
This is a great arc for him, don't get me wrong, everything that I love about Superman has come to the front because of the strife and struggle he's going through.

Speaking of this, iirc, in the new52, Krypton is 27 light years away from Earth. I know Krypton is an extremely ancient civilization, but goddamn, that would have taken a long time to reach savage 50k years ago, setting the prologue incredibly far back in the past.

Further, Cro-Magnons would likely be using weapons *at least* as sophisticated as those of Neanderthals, instead of what appear to be slightly-melted bone clubs. Savage's people don't look particularly Neanderthal-y, either -- they actually have *chins* ...

Well the Kryptonians had a huge empire that basically dominated the galaxy before the formation of the Manhunters and the Green Lantern Corps. Part of the reason for the formation of the corps was that the sudden shift in kryptonian culture from expansion to isolationism meant that the empire, and the Imperial Peace it enforced, suddenly disappeared, causing a power vacuum and instability as lesser empires started duking it out.
Krypton is meant to be one of the earliest civilisations, alongside the guardians and a few other DC civs.
