CN's going to go back downhill next year, I bet. Remember:

CN's going to go back downhill next year, I bet. Remember: the "sixth" year of a decade tends to be the apocalypse year, or the "666" year.

In 1996, Nick cancelled Pete & pete, had Gerry laybourne replaced by Herb scannell as president, and slowly began to enter their "hip, new" phase.

Also in 1996, Disney Channel hired Anne sweeney as their head. The next year, she turned it from a premium channel with Disney classics into a basic cable tweencom channel.

In 2006 (pic related), CN aired the Re-animated movie, aired Saved by the Bell on Adult swim for April Fools', spammed commercials with Fred Fred Burger and Cheese, cancelled Teen Titans, and really pushed that Ben 10 shit.

In 2016, something will happen, though nobody knows what.

This is bait.

But I'm serious, the "sixth" year of a decade is usually a deep plunge in quality
>>
>>78433829
>really pushed that Ben 10 shit

Fucking this. I remember being bothered that they cut it off so abruptly and then being downright pissed when the same fucking animation team was already back with some dumbshit kid with a magic bracelet and a hot sister.

Least we got plenty of Gwen porn out of it.
>>
>>78433996
You forgot to mention Teen titans in your post
>>
>>78433897
We'll believe you when you have evidence outside of 1996 and 2006, as well as evidence of this phenomenon happening across other cultural mediums (live-action television, literature, film, politics, socio-economic circumstances, etc.).
>>
You are really pushing it, CN had far worse years than 2006

I'm pretty sure at one point a couple of years ago, Annoying Orange, Hole in the Wall, Problem Solverz, and MAD were all airing at the same time.
>>
>>78434027
Sure, but was it really required here? If somebody on /co/ didn't know I was talking about Teen Titans, then they probably shouldn't be here.
>>
>>78434029
I'm gonna go ahead and say that 06 was the start of the decline that culminated in that fuckawful mess. Sometimes it takes a good while to hit rock bottom.
>>
>>78434028
1976 was when disco took over music

This niggas really trying to imply mid to late 90s Nick and Disney weren't amazing. Wow.
>>
>>78433874
Gravity Falls will get cancelled next year with no resolution. Callin it.
>>
>>78434090
In my opinion, 04 was the start of the decline (new logo, shit shows like Puffy Amiyumi). 05 was a bit more apparent, 06 was much more apparent, and 2007 was the official start of that fuckawful mess (Out of jimmy's head, Fall is just something that grown-up invented)
>>
>>78434144
Joke's on you: It's already confirmed to end in January with a resolution.
Probably not a good one, but something that can be construed as an ending, at least.
>>
>>78434144
>cancelled
Wasted dubs anon, it's having its series finale soon. Not the same as cancelled.
>>
>>78434144
Actually, the 2016 CN curse will be that they hire Alex Hirsch for a pile of cash this year and, due to the lack of constant oversight like Disney gave him during "Gravity Falls," his sophomore show lacks similar quality and crashes and burns - or he gets in trouble for excessive partying and chasing the lady help too much.
>>
>>78433829
Airing Saved by the Bell on adultswim is hilarious though
>>
>>78434143
Even people who didn't experience 1990-1997 Nick seem to agree that that was the "golden age" (followed by the 'silver age' of 1998-2006ish, then the 'dark age' of 2006-now)
>>
>>78433829
1996 was the year Hey Arnold came out
Your entire argument is invalidated
>>78434092
I still like disco.

I think I may be the only person in the world who genuinely enjoyed MAD.
>>
>>78440017
Apparently, the writers for MAD went on to work on TTG.
>>
>>78440046
Is that so? TTG is a pretty bad show but it has it's moments, like 40% 40% 20%
>>
>>78440069
So, basically just like MAD.
>>
>>78433829
I really don't know how Adult Swim could get any worse than it already is. They've already made a ton of shitty weird experimental live action shows and most of Adult Swim is Seth MacFarlane show reruns because everybody loves watching that shit over and over.
>>
>>78440083
I feel MAD hit more than it missed if you just count the movie parody skits. I know that's generally just the opening and ending skits of the show, but still.
>>
>>78440101
mad was something I liked in small doses. They started showing it like they do with TTG now and i couldn't take it because as you know they always joked with current pop culture but reruns would bounce around from all different parts of the year and even other years. It did not age well past 2 weeks.
>>
>>78440153
This basically.

That's true, it's very much a problem with any media that thrives on pop culture. The only reason it's a problem with shows is they expect to get more than one viewing out of it, unlike something like a magazine.
As for TTG, I'll take them over lesbian space rocks
>>
>>78440241
>As for TTG, I'll take them over lesbian space rocks
SU puts just a bit more effort than TTG. The TTG staff even said they like keeping things simple as possible.

They can put in all the effort they want, it has the problems a serial show has where seeing episodes out of order can confuse you because of plot changes without the appeal.
If I was going to sit down and just watch a show SU isn't terrible, it's just pretty shitty when it has reruns all over.
>>
>>78440541
But that's not the show's fault. The scheduling is all fucked up.
>>
>>78440046
writers from brave and the bold, too.
>>78440017
yeah, it was cool. i miss robotomy and cartoon planet, too
>>78440541
yeah, the plot is probably the reason CN doesn't even bother rerunning it often. I think they just need to give the show one stable weekday timeslot and air 2 episodes in order. Or maybe start making more episodes that don't need any context, like what AT does. It IS a good show, tho.
>>
>>78440556
But that's what the situation is. Saying "X would be better if Y" could very well be valid, but it's a hypothetical. The fact of the matter is I'd just rather not deal with that
>>
1986 was a damn good year for gaming, prove me wrong:

>Castlevania
>The Legend of Zelda
>Metroid
>Gauntlet
>Dragon Quest
>Ultima I
>Rygar
>Kid Icarus
>Starflight
>Out Run

Fuck your theory.
