Out of the 24 years I've been born I have never had one of those cakes. I even asked my mom if we had one when I was too young to remember and no.

I was bagging groceries on Christmas eve last year and an old man offered me a piece.
It was the most disgusting thing made with fruit I've ever had. But now I know.
A friend of my family makes these things called friendship cakes. I don't know what the difference between it and a fruitcake is exactly, other than actually being decent.
