I mean, they both kind of put themselves in bad situations I guess the main difference is Bojack seems to be the type who is really kind of just conformed to being an asshole so he kind of gets what's coming to him but here she is trying to change and fucking hell man.

as someone who watched bojack all the way through too, and cried many times too, i can at least try and offer an explanation.
katia may make poor decisions, but she's often being egged on by the readers' commands, and while her mistakes present themselves as momentary lapses of judgment, she means well. she takes risks that don't always work out, but she's conscious of her mistakes and always pretty damn self aware, and at least MAKES the effort to improve herself. the story is also presented as katia's new beginning, and there's always a glimmer of hope, evidence she's stepping in the right direction. the storytelling convinces you that she's going to be okay at various points in the comic, so when things don't actually work out, you're actually let down because you were rooting for her so bad.
bojack is basically a downward spiral, a situation that never really looks up. he starts out fucked, he keeps getting fucked, and you kind of get used to the catastrophe that is his life. it's more like you're watching some sort of dateline special than someone's recovery.
also, katia is female, she's cute as heck, she's someone you could probably be friends with, and she's someone you can envision wanting to help/save yourself, which is something men on the internet picture themselves doing all the time. she's easy to get emotionally attached to.

That was just a shared storytelling style of comics on the MSPA forums. Before Homestuck got big, when Problem Sleuth and the other two were popular, commands were accepted from people too. It became entirely unrealistic with the increase in popularity
It's not really a personal style, but more a genre of webcomic unique to the forums. Prequel has a lot of Homestuck inside jokes, though, so I'm sure Kaz intentionally avoided changing the formatting (==>, [S], be X) as homage to Hussie's stuff.
Also like, Prequel does it way better imo because updates are all piled onto a single page, rather than having thousands of fucking pages to click through. Homestuck is just a pain to navigate, with the slight bonus of daily updates during the heyday of Homestuck's popularity.

Gonna echo that other guy that "gross" is a pretty weird word. But for real, second-person narration has been around forever, as have comics like this. One of the earliest was Explosm.net's Magical Skiing Adventure, and I think the first one to have a playable minigame sequence might've been made by me. The thing Andrew Hussie really got right (and everyone, including me, subsequently stole) was combining the interactivity with the easy-to-use sprite animation style pioneered in things like Kid Radd.

At some point, you just give up on Bojack and watch him crash and burn. You can still enjoy the upswings, but I personally have a different relationship towards the two of them.

Bojack, while not very happy about himself sort of already got something. Sure he is as asshole and realize that he his asholey action gets consequences later on, he's got all fame and billions of dollar and get laid constantly throughout the series. We can relate to Bojacks depressed side and bad life choices.
Katia has nothing at the start of her journey.
Like other anon's said, it's easier to feel sympathy for someone who has nothing but only means well and want to do good in their life while also making others happy.

I know a guy in my old town who wrote a scifi book once about an alien insectoid race on some planet that had developed to stone age technology.
In it, he described that the females only ovulated once every two months and that the egg inside them would only start growing until it was ready to be laid if it was impregnated by the male prior.
Also the egg would take like 3 or 4 months before it hatched into a larva that would simply eat, sleep and absorb knowledge for another 2 years before cocooning and eventually hatch into said insectoid that now has the mentality of a human 2 year old due to knowledge being absorbed.
I think it also mentioned how the females would make a soup of plants that contained aborting chemicals (like parsley here on Earth) if they'd screw around for fun.

As an aside, I find parallels to Katia in my life. I'm generally reasonable, but let FUD (both sorts) take over more often than I should. I get to be okay at skills but never legitimately good. I cannot, however, perform any sort of pineapple trick, and for that I am glad.
I remember when I first started reading this comic. It's been exactly a year ago too this very day. I finally decided to go see the comic featuring an adorably unlucky Khajiit that kept on popping up everywhere.
I was up late reading it though. Couldn't wait to see how it would end (hah). I was the same age as her and was half way through messing up the worst year of university I've ever had. Everything was falling to pieces arround me, I was drowning in depression, and then I found this comic. Read it all night, cried during the second nightmare, loved it inside and out.
So thank you Kaz. Thank you for messing with me, taking my money, turning me into a self-loathing furry with a Khajiit waifu, inspiring me, and making the most fun webcomic I've ever read.

A dream! I've been using RSS feeds for a good 7-8 years. I try and convert everyone I meet who has a folder full of bookmarked pages. I can't even imagine ditching it now.
Plus, you'd be shocked at how many things either have a feed or can be converted into a feed. There was a point in my life where I just never subscribed to any YouTube channels ever because I had any new videos delivered to my reader.

If you're asking about how it works, anything that consistently updates probably has an RSS feed, and when you subscribe, everything comes to one hub rather than you wasting time checking things manually. If you follow hundreds of feeds, you will preserve your sanity entirely and always be the first to know when new things happen.

No download. I mean, there are dedicated apps, but most RSS readers are in-browser.
Just google RSS readers and try what people have to offer. Google used to have one and it was really great, but they shut it down, so the web got flooded with people trying to fill the void. I used to use Feedly but got kinda annoyed with it and migrated to The Old Reader, whose name is a reference to Google Reader.

I don't like the idea of Katia sounding like a Redguard. To me, that goes against what has been established in the games. Khajiit in every province sound like Khajiit. It doesn't matter where they are born.
Kaz can blame that on Bethesda's horrible voice acting, but I want Katia to sound like a Khajiit. Maybe a less raspy one, but she has to have some of that rasp.
