I can not enjoy Cucumber quest, because no matter how good it is, and it is good, it's always tainted by the memory of when she was funnier.
Her style fits so perfectly with direct parody, the indirect satire of Cucumber quest just doesn't quite mesh with it. She was so brilliant and taking established characters and drawing out the inherent humour in them, but lacks equal talent in creating likeable and humourous characters by herself.
I highly recommend people read cucumber quest, but only so long as they've never seen her earlier work, that way, Cucumber quest won't be a disapointment

herself as a person though has done a complete 180 ever since she got to tumblr. she constantly complains about people bitching about her comic, and has a tough time accepting criticism from others especially the type of criticism that /co/ and other people sometimes offer.
I think there was some screenshot saying how she felt like we didn't really have the merrit to judge her comic for being slow or boring, it was something really dumb.
Like I said I love her artstlye, and I like her comic, but yeah.

No. The art is nice, but it has absolutely zero substance.
I can understand her wanting to move on to original work rather than parodying already existing properties, but Cucumber Quest has none of the charm of the Hiimdaisy comics.
Rather than creating an interesting setting and characters, it feels like she just falls into her comfort zone of parodying RPG cliches, which is just essentially what she was doing before but with characters that aren't anywhere near as charming. You can't have your cake and eat it too without the quality of your work suffering, and it shows. That, and the pacing is awful, making it more boring and the what good humor there is even less enjoyable.
I don't claim to be a mindreader, but it all feels like it's just an attempt on her part to get her name known for something other than "those funny vidya comics." And that means it's incredibly shallow, and has none of the spirit of her previous works.

Other than that, personality-wise, she's has her ups and downs. She is nice and generally friendly, but on Something Awful, she blamed her comics lack of popularity and media coverage on sexism and apparently there was a large drop in viewership after Almond x Peridot became a larger part of the comic and she blames bigotry for that.

The art is nice, the setting is okay, but I cannot stand how she can't seem to stay focused on one tangent at a time. I get that the story's going to taper off a lot since it's basically "Side-Quests: The Webcomic," but nothing ever happens because she simply never stays focused. There's also really weird transitions throughout the entire comic, like the part where the beauty pageant/hunt began, but then they decided it was time for a Nightmare Knight intermission. That part would have worked after the heroes had defeated Rosemaster, and before this entire intermission with Peridot, Princess Parfait, and N.Knight began -- alternatively, at the beginning of the chapter.
I love her work, but again, that shit infuriates me to no end.

CQ looks nice and really tried to get into it. I even participated in the Kickstarter for the first Volume.
But its fatal flaw is that it apes Paper Mario way too hard. My point is not that it's too derivate though, it's that Paper Mario had gameplay and interactivity in addition to the story and characters and it worked as a complete package. She just cut out a major chunk of it without changing what remained and still expected it to work on its own.
The humor also tends to rely too much on reaction faces rather than writing and timing.
Nice art, but she's not a writer.

It's always been like that, but I guess that when she was riffing on games, she had to cut down on the smarm in order to make room for plot points from the source material. From what I saw of Cucumber Quest (which I followed for a while, then took a look at a month ago, then stopped again), the smarm has increased exponentially, and there isn't enough novelty to support it. For every genuine development or twist that pops up, you gotta slog through 20 pages of teasing and weak banter.

Okay you can kill everyone in the game but the route where you murder everyone is the objectively bad ending route that Toby Fox both in game and on Twitter keeps reiterating he doesn't like. It's not even ambiguous, Toby dislikes the genocide path of his own game and wishes that you would reconsider taking it. The "good end" of the game is the end where you make friends with everyone and save the day, and that's the ending with the morals the game wants to promote. The difference between the SMT system that Toby ripped off and Undertale is that the "pacifist" solutions to SMT encounters were appeasing otherworldly creatures whose moral compasses and desires the player nor the player character were expected to understand. It doesn't even have to do anything with ancestors, if anything several monsters learn to stop being genocidal dicks themselves and not treat small children like enemies. You help the monsters because they need help and you have the option to be a good person and go out of your way to help them. Unless you really do some awful unnecessary stuff like killing Papyrus, no one other than the guard whose job it is to make sure humans don't kill people gets mad at you for not helping them escape. They even accept you escaping and setting them back as justified, you're never under any obligation to apologize for being human.
