Luke didn't just start calling Obi Wan Kenobi "Old Ben" by himself. It doesn't even seem like Luke had ever met the man.
Ben was already Obi Wan's alias, and since he was an old man who lived by himself in the desert, people in the area called him "Old Ben".

We got Leia, Han, a defecting stormtrooper nobody, a currently unconfirmed bloodline nobody from Jakku, and the not-rebellion fighting against the not-Empire, the First Order, who are the successors to the Empire, not its remnant. The only relative was Kylo Ren, Han and Leia's son, who was part of the First Order.
The New Republic was barely featured beyond some offhand mentions and the destruction of the Senate and several other worlds.

This is just some random bullshit, but if you want yet another great example of George shitting up post-OT content to suit his whims, Grievous.
Grievous' original backstory was that he had been duped into believing the shuttle bombing that destroyed his body was a republic plot, which gives him ample reason to utterly despite the Jedi to the point of obsession.
George thought "Grievous wants to be a jedi but he can't so he's jealous and gets rebuilt" was better. Some elements (like the Jedi deciding to support the giant mantis slavers basically being Hitler to the Kaleesh) were legitimately dumb, but "Grievous decides to get full body reconstruction because he's a big dumb baby with hurt feelings" isn't any better.

That extended amount of trust they put into Lindelof's way of doing things also extends into how they first announced the film. IIRC, it's implied that Meetra never really regained her Force Powers, and she's been leeching off of the raw power of everyone she met. This is why she was so powerful, for every person she met, the stronger she became - forming "bonds" or force channels that she could draw from, no matter where in the Galaxy she was.
Nihilus's power is more direct. Unlike Meetra who technically borrows or shares raw force power, Nihilus literally takes it, or steals it.
But because Meetra never really became a direct conduit for the Force herself (like she used to be as a typical Jedi), she became the one person in the entire galaxy (at the time) who was completely immune to Nihilus' drain.

If you listen to the legends, i.e. stuff that almost certainly isn't true, he sabotaged the editing of the film. This stems from his really bad row with the director. Famously the movie was his last before his retirement, and he did not attend the opening, publicly distancing himself from the whole affair.

Pretty much the most egregious example of everything that was wrong with the EU. Edgy for edginess' sake, tons of sex/swearing/drugs/violence, etc. Basically wasn't Star Wars, too grimdark and no fun allowed. The characters weren't very good either.
