Sure the old man has had it out for us before, tricking us, fueling the hiatuses, and among other things, but he cares about all of the people who watch his show (except for the guy who he shot down on Tumblr, and all the people he's blocked on Twitter, but the details aren't important) and of course there's going to be some things he planned that took a different, less exciting direction than we thought, but without him, we would never have the things some of you love, like Pacifica's existence, Dipper's feet shots, and of course the lovable chubby goof you see here. Sometimes we get so caught up in what didn't go right, that we set more issues up for ourselves in the future. Let's go into this finale with an open mind, huh fellas?

Whether it makes sense or not having the character be so passive in this arc was a bad move. There have been great moments but it feels like they don't know what to do with him and just kind of shunted him off to the side. Maybe the standard problem with writing characters who are too powerful.
