>>78354259
>>78354223
So yes
She was one of us
>>78354259
Thanks for the band name.
>>78354259
Thank you, I never heard it phrased this well.
The boy was. Why do more boys have autism anyway? I don't know how it is for downs syndrome, schizophrenia, or actually being mentally retarded, but Autism and aspergers seems more common in guys for some raisin. Like does it go back to gender rolls on how women are seen as shy/submissive and the men should be more social?
I talk like a mix between Jimmy and that other guy who says retard 500 times a day. It sucks.
>>78354223
same thing
>>78356186
I can't handle this amount of misinformation.
>>78354207
She was a total slut just waiting to come out of her unassuming shell, just like that girl you know who you're too shy to ask out. What's her name, anon?
Diagnosed Aspergers here. From when they still used the term Aspergers officially anyway. Still, not sure i'm informed enough right now to give a good answer, so pardon the ramble. Luckily I can use my autist powers to sponge of the information.

Gender roles, I mean its a likely contributing factor. Different expectations, different treatment, different perceptions. We react differently to norm violations between girls and boys.
A few different ideas are out there. I'm hesitant to endorse any particular one though, since gender roles are ever changing, nuanced, and contradictory. For example, conversely to the traditional shy & reserved thing, girls in the west often encouraged to socialize and be more friendly, expressive, and outgoing, to smile, etc. Basically girls are already conditioned to fake their way through social interaction, autism or no, so sometimes early on Autists can learn to mask their condition. That's the idea anyway.
Or, for the obsessive interest thing aspies have, To paraphrase, a girl reading every Jane Austen novel or who obsesses over horses seems much less peculiarity than a boy who, say, knows hundreds of facts about bees or (as in my case) can deliver an hour lecture about King Louis XIV of France off the top of their head.
Also, most of the studies have been focused on males. And a lot of specialists don't think girls are as likely to have autism or aspergers, and thus aren't as likely to diagnose girls with autism or aspergers.

>gender roles
Yes everything is a social construct, and there's no difference between male and female brains, right? he he
And the average woman has better social skills and is better at reading emotions from facial expression and body language, they really aren't shy compared to men.
In /co/s opinion, pretty much anyone is autistic
i think people are overcompensating, same way a closet gay will call a bunch of other people gay to direct the light on someone else
>>78354259
Can you smoke that?
>>78354259
>tfw was home schooled
Yeah, pretty much.
>>78356636
Crystal meth cut with toilet cleaner is healthier than synthetic autism.
>>78356186
Same reason for most other disorders: XY vs XX.
>>78356568
What if I talk about all 3? What a retarded pretentious comic
She was a slut.

Doesn't have to be all at once you autist.
Was he autistic?
>>78356588
>Closet
Nah, I just use 'autism' as an insult to make me feel less autistic. It's a good coping mechanism.
>>78357243
Maybe, everyone in that show acts so strangely it just doesnt stand out.
>this captcha
>>78357276
It's still the same logic though
>>78357243
Nah. Just damaged from being trapped in an abusive relationship.
the definition of autism has become so broad that it has ceased to be a useful label
>>78357095
It's a parody of Eleanor Roosevelt's quote: "Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."
>>78361807
It hasn't broadened that much. It's only you dummies on 4chan who think anyone with mild social problems or anyone slightly odd has autism.
When you've interacted with people who have real, diagnosed autism, you'll know that they actually have it.
We saw how well home schooling went for the Duggar kids. So yeah, she was autistic.
>>78361917
Tbph, most people are surprised when I say I'm autistic based on how well I interact.
No, I'm not self-diagnosed, I got it from a psychiatrist when I was four.
No, my parents didn't push them into giving me the diagnosis, the last thing they wanted was for me to be considered what they felt was indistinguishable from Rain Man.
>tfw I was homeschooled all my life but was still able to socialize well and maintain healthy relationships
>Sometimes even better than my friends whom go to public school
>>78362586
Volunteering for afterschool programs, I've come to find the only difference between home school and public school kids is that the home shool kids know how to read.
>>78362647
The only home schooled kids I met seemed to live in a bubble, their only exposure to ideas being those of their parents.
One day they invited me to a jazz concert. I said yes because I'm open to new experiences.
Then their father commented, "Great! It would be good for you appreciate real music, instead of that rap and hip hop."
I have never had any interaction with this man, and keep my personal tastes private to everyone. Fuck him.
The bitch at the concert didn't even sing good, and gave no acknowledgement to the band, and would brag about her accomplishments between songs.
When we left, the father said the next concert would be better. Never hung out with them again. Years later, the oldest son went full rebel and is somewhere on the west coast. The youngest son is still home under the father's control. The mother had an affair.
I got to talk to the oldest some time back. He became a completely different person due to his exposure to the world. Having been kept in that bubble had a positive effect only in terms of contrast to the real world, making him wiser and more balanced in his views.
He communicates with his young brother secretly, hoping to help him grow.
I hope they're okay.

Go back to your containment thread, Willis.

>jazz

It was fucking smooth jazz, wasn't it? I hate it when plebs try pretending they're patricians.
>>78363203
So essentially their father behaved just like the homeschooled kids' father in South Park?
>>78354207
>>78363833
Eww he's bald.
