I was thinking more, that's barely a two-bit dying seafront promenade, not a village. the kind where it's all obviously just hanging together for one more tourist season and then who knows?? so just buy the overpriced nicknacks from the shabby souvenir place and get the hell out of there before darkness falls and all the junkies come out

it's bizarre to me how so many people in real life live in such dangerous locales. below sea level, lodged in permafrost on stilts, on a volcanic island that constantly gets hit by tidal waves.. on a 500 foot cliff.. it's fucking nuts how dangerous that all is.
not to mention the people who have no food or no water, and have never considered just walking in a straight line til they hit something better, and refusing to leave. If you're gonna die anyway you might as well fucking try. animals fucking migrate. that's how your ancestors got there in the first place.

I live in Tijuana and we get what we call parachuters which are people from other places in Mexico (even in the US) that come in our city and make their houses anywhere they want.

A lot of them do it in the side of hills in the most inconvenient places and when something happens they cry to the government.

The top is deceptively quiet and its one of the reasons its dangerous to kayaks and canoes.

Dams work by being fucking heavy (since they're almost entirely made of earth or concrete). This just looks like wooden poles staked into the river bed.
>>
>>78162050
Look. You build a dam to divert the river temporarily. You build the building you want in the riverbed. You let the river return to its natural course.
>>
>>78162050

The wooden poles are likely staked deep into the river bed by earth benders to make sure they can withstand the current.

that village was pretty neat. the interaction between all the different creatures and the mountain... but it's weird how that map was recycled in a smaller scale as flame princess's house. Then again in Ooo shit can just happen, maybe a wizard shrank it down

as you can see, it wasn't traced or anything, it was just used as a model.. presumably they were outta ideas and just needed something to reference
>>
>>78170464
They go back to that spot later, for some reason the village is gone and FP has her house there.

Oddly it seems the area has shrunk in size, because where an entire village of like ten or so buildings used to be there's now just FP's shack which takes up the entire center area there.

I guess the animators got confused.

>>78170497
I wonder what the mountain guy was thinking about them being down there. It would have been nice if he said hi to them or something.
>>
I always thought that the kingdom from Tangled was extremely comfy
>>
>>78170497
>>78170514
Huh. Honestly they probably didn't think anyone would notice but I don't know why they wouldn't just make a new area since they seem to have no trouble doing so.
>>
>>78170401
yep, just an inevitable side effect of when you build a city like that.

Venice is probably a prime example of "what happens when you build cities on cool ideas over practical ones".
>>
>>78170514
so you reckon it's canon the same spot? I mean I guess so, and it might just be an animation error, but it makes more sense to me that it was a recycling not intended to be the same spot than an error that actually made it through. But yeah a wizard could have just shrunk it.. they should meet a guy like that sometime. maybe he shrank Tiny Manticore
>What the mountain guy thought
TIER 1 IS INAPPROPRIATE!
>>78170557
it was fucking lovely. castle town tier. god damn i wish i could post some /v/ locales. for a long time, when my imagination still worked, my default brain screensaver was running along milk road. now i cant concentrate or think of things anymore. goddamn harrison bergeron government or whatever.
>>
>>
>>78170615
>so you reckon it's canon the same spot?
It matches up to well to not be. They drew all the little shit (bridge, dock, that little ladder on the hill) all to match up in the new style for their backgrounds, so it's freaking impossible that was unintentional.

I think it was either an animation error, OR they shrunk it down themselves because otherwise they would be left with a lot of empty space and the scenes from Burning Low wouldn't work as intended.

But that's really weird, they could't just make a new spot for her? Why shrink a previously shown spot?
>>
there's nothing more depressing than driving past some bustling locale to the spot where blue-collar laborers work.. just endless shipping containers and construction vehicles and cement trucks spanning MILES.. all because... i mean shit, someone has to build all of our shit and move things around. But to me it's just the antithesis of beauty, and I find more appeal in the urban than the natural realm. Just a monument to drudgery..
The babby version of that is the semi rundown suburban areas where there's nothing but hardware stores, auto repair garages, and truckshipment warehouses.
and the stupid thing is it gets so expensive to live in a lot of cool cities because they run out of space. Fuck, move these places somewhere else and build more seattle THERE instead! do these places need to be there? As it is, everything they take in and put out has to travel for what feels like an endless stretch anyhow.
>>
>>
>>78165254

Well, come to the Southwest and you'll discover that there are places that look like this.

Very nice out here.
>>
>>78170674
this is what i'm saying. to me, the most sensible (if still odd) theory is that they simply didn't have time to design a new map (something they need to keep everything consistent for the animators) so they reused one and scaled it down so it would seem like a very different, more secluded place
>>
>>
>>78170732
fucking crazy shit too. makes you wonder how the fuck geology works
i mean i'm willing to accept that wind could shape rocks into crazy shit like all those spires, but in all the time it supposedly takes, why hasnt random chance made it NOT happen more than it happens? Everywhere else in the world erosion just flattens shit out
and anytime there's exposed strata i have to ask myself.. how the fuck did the strata form in the first place if it's this effortless and rapid for something to come along and destroy its perfection?

>>
>>78172126
There really was something weirdly neat about this city, and not just its anachronism.. I think it was how hilly it was, with tons of winding sloping roads. Totally appropriate thematically: kiki can fly. she thinks it's a minor skill, but here in this town where getting around must be a pain in the ASS, she can just fly right over shit to deliver it quickly. Meanwhile tombo's using those roads to achieve super fast speeds on a winged bike to attempt to kludge out flight, so it's like.. the same goal but one works with it, the other circumvents it. just like how when she tries to force her magic, she can't.
