Good evening owls of /co/,
Same Thunderbolts theme, going back in time. Going to run it through to where we started on Cagebolts.
>>78133051
have some covers
>>78133076
btw, this is fairly good Deodato
no copypasted LEGO starships
>>78133051
>>78133076
Oh boy, Mac. Is it time for canon vore already?
>>78133109
definitely time for some beatdowns
we so Ellis on the first page
Pastebin of gifting: http://pastebin.com/0jKyyDvj
>>78133089
>zemo's dick looks like a packer
>moonstone's body is jello
>penance fell out of a 3e monster manual
>china man, china man, radioactive china man is dynasty warriors-huge
At least Bullseye's booty is on point. I guess.
>>78133209
We Swordsman instead of Zemo right now, but...yeah.
at least we're still Moonstone
>>78133209
I've seen better butts though
>>78133279
For you DnA Cosmic fans--it's Jack Flag!
>>78133297
(things get worse for him before they get better, but at least you know they get better)
(also, he's escaped a Bendising)
Time for Squirrel Girl's Husbando?
>>78133051
Hello Storyteller.
After reading Cagebolts, Songbird looks weird with long hair. Short and sidecut just works for her.
>>78133328
Oddly enough he gets one of the better arcs in this run
Lookin' Griffles, honey
>>78133297
>>78133317
Yeah, this is Jack right before what happened that got him into the situation that GotG eventually unfucked him from.
He's still in space today, hating cosmic shit, not getting Bendis'd, being the chosen one of absolutely nothing. Good end.
Christ, why must norman osborn keep coming back to life
>>78133350
We've also jumped back in time to full-on Civil War, so it's an...adjustment
Reminder that the Carol Danvers of this period probably voted Republican
>>78133352
Jack predates Griffles, bad Lee. Sit in the corner.
>>78133363
This was BEFORE Bendis got his hands on him. In fact, reading this, you see what Bendis knocked off, just, well, Bendis-ly
>>78133279
for the record, had Bullseye had any significant run-ins with Green Goblin prior to this?
>>78133374
She sure has changed a lot
>>78133374
Osborn looks like Tommy Lee Jones here.
So Ellis-y!
>>78133392
>>78133403
Unsure, I am rather Spidey-unread
>>78133252
Did Osborn seriously just drink Bullseye's tears?
This nigga...
>>78133363
It's a straight up fact these days that the goblin serum can bring Norman back from nearly anything
>>78133405
And it's most all for the blander, too
>>78133457
This run has some AMAAAAAZING full-Ellis Osborn.
>>78133374
Inspector Javert Carol was controversial, it was a little much for her, but it wasn't totally off-base either.
It's not a common viewpoint for a woman in a swimsuit onesie to have, for whatever reason, but it kinda made sense. 9/11 happened in-universe, made people do stuff that was slightly out of character.
>>78133252
>not saying he tasted like a liar
Come on, Norman.
>>78133374
>FIX News
>Giving you your opinion
heh
>>78133474
I know it's a bit odd to read out of sequence, but what the hell, I think it'll actually be productive, this time
>>78133392
Are they referencing the Order? Remember The Order?(no)
>>78133481
She's career military and tends to be a hawk, so Javert is a bit over what it could have been, but she's a real law and order type
Also, Ellis gets some of the satirical edge that the Civil War era needed more of but not applied to overwhelm story (ala NASCAR)
>>78133252
Bullseye's tears. As much a turn on for Norman as Gwen Stacy.:p
>>78133531
That comes a bit later, I think
>>78133577
this Karla has some real Edge to her, btw
>>78133577
What a page
>>78133558
>details on the thunderbolt's target
that seems like something you wouldn't want publicly broadcast regarding a blops team
>>78133374
>this entire page
Speaking of time travel, what I wouldn't give to go back in time and slap the editors around a little and make them realize what a completely terrible idea this was.
Bad things already happen when the odd bit of politics or such randomly turn up in comics (Which is odd since most people don't give a shit about them otherwise.) but to do an entire event around this. Holy shit.
>>78133629
>>78133621
it's as much show as actual ops
>>78133577
>we will never get a thunderbolts show done with Thunderbirds tier marionettes
>>78133647
No, no, this is Civil War, it's two years to Secret Invasion
that's what I mean about Bendis taking this later and re-running it
>>78133680
Oh, I mean, err, well yeah, Civil War was a mess too
>>78133350
>sidecut
It was a undercut bordering on a mohawk.
>>78133658
if only
>>78133712
oh come on, who wouldn't bang Zemo at least once
>>78133610
>>78133629
>>78133654
This was the hook that really got my eyes on Moonstone, since I wasn't/still aren't terribly versed in the early Thunderbolts run. Normie plays off everyone really well, too.
>>78133514
I like how little security they have on Bullseye compared to how they treat him during New Ways to Die.
>>78133727
maybe between Threeboot and Retroboot we'll read some Busiekbolts?
>>78133629
>Oh, terrible.
Karla, pls.
>>78133699
Despite being completely unsubtle, since CW is so unsubtle it's negative-subtle, this is a good scene to remind you how fucked up shit was at the time.
>>78133807
dammit Karla
>>78133820
Karla is in top villain form today!
>>78133820
>>78133855
Well. That went from AHAHAHA GODDAMMIT KARLA to OH GODDAMMIT NO in a real short time.
>>78133727
Yeah, early Moonstone was pretty cold-blooded. I was more familiar with her Busiekbolts characterization so Parkerbolts was a little odd to me.
>>78133891
I think he's mad
>>78133906
I think she's mellowed a lot by Parkerbolts
>>78133938
still, so posed Deodato
>>78133745
>Passably attractive
Purple Man said she's the hottest super hero, and he would know.
>>78133966
Poor Robbie. Fuck, how did he draw the short straw in this era?
>>78134010
He's CRAZY powerful as Penance.
>>78133820
She is a such an asshole, but she has so much charm. I love it.
>>78134023
(not running the Penance mini w/o good bourbon, btw)
>>78133955
Yeah he's ok in the shadowy talky scenes but the action is not great. Ellis seems to be writing to his strengths
>>78134023
What is his power specifically? Gravity control?
>>78133966
Despite the way this ends, the whole sequence treats Jack really fairly and lets him shine. It's almost as if when it's aforegone conclusion, you don't have to shit on the other guy.
I wouldn't be surprised if this sequence was what caught DnA's eye and that's how Jack's plot came about. Because he otherwise had no goddamn reason to be there.
>>78134055
>>78134058
Almost anything to do with controlling kinetic energy.
Yeah, he's broken.
>>78134010
>>78134023
Penance is such a ridiculous bit of utter nonsense.
Not the least reason being that he somehow blames himself for the school blowing up. Dunno, I'd be more inclined to blame the psychotic asshole who deliberately vaporized it because he's a punk bitch. But I guess I'm the crazy one.
>>78134106
the F4's mailman is a badass, to be fair
>>78134123
TIME FOR PILLS
>>78134117
He does end up getting therapy in this run.
>>78134148
only after he goes around like this for a while
>>78134167
Oh, Warren. Quoting Nietzsche is so very you.
>>78134134
>carramazepinium
Shouldn't that be carbamazepine?
>>78134123
>>78134134
And so it begins
>>78134189
Probably, but I suspect strict pharmacological accuracy is not what they were going for
CNS depressant, right? huh, no, it's an anti-convulsant?
>>78133403
I don't believe so, but they share a playground, so it isn't unlikely that they know each other.
>>78134241
MRRROW
>>78134241
Apparently it's also used to treat bipolar depression.
>>78134241
If you get your drugs from shady-ass channels, who knows what they're going to call 'em.
>>78134241
It's also used to to treat bipolar disorder, as is lithium.
>>78134279
...yeah, that'll do it. The lithium is used for that, I know.
>>78134179
He was so happy when he found all the quotes with Thunderbolt in them
>>78134296
Funny how this is still topical, isn't it.
>>78134310
>>78134309
It's probably from Also sprach Zarathustra, which is full of cool shit like that
>>78134272
>>78134319
zzzzzzzzzing
>>78134328
so cute, but we know those claws are needles
>>78134340
The colors really help Deodato here, too
>>78134310
>>78134319
Still topical. I can appreciate that, in the sense that it's also horrible.
>>78134319
Ok, Osborn is Trump before Trump became a thing.
>>78134361
this is fucking great
>>78134310
This kinda reminds me of a darker Prez.
>>78134380
Agreed
>>78134376
Trump has always been a substrate of a thing, he's just...oh man, let's not go there tonight
>>78134384
Ellis writes good topical satire that keeps on working
>>78134380
Wut?
>>78134361
oh boy
>>78134310
>>78134319
These two pages make me depressed as hell.
Because he makes a solid point.
>>78134340
It's not even a petty catfight, they both have conflicting points of view and display intelligence and everything. If only every conflict between fictional women were this not-stupid.
>>78134414
And guys, this was BEFORE social media blew up like it has now. Ellis would have really run with that aspect.
>>78134414
>let's not go there tonight
Can we at least acknowledge they both have ridiculous hair?
>>78134483
Jeez
>>78134483
well this is healthy
>>78134491
What? His dick isn't even showing.
>>78134486
Yes. Although I'd say Norman actually has better hair.
>>78134486
Absolutely!
Norman is so sick and yet so fucking funny in this run
>>78134536
The cornrows are so good. How can you hate a crazy whitey with cornrows?
>>78134508
I mean the retracting into the mouth bit
>>78134483
Why is Norman so good at sneaking up on guys in the locker room?
>>78134537
Awwww yes I just successfully pimped Omega Men to a comics journalist friend. He was going to wait and get through GL up to that point, and I was all "NO JUST READ IT IT'S SELF CONTAINED"
>>78134571
practice
>>78134560
They're horizontal, which is weird, and the way it gets drawn is inconsistent enough that you can't tell what's going on.
>>78134595
Oh, thank god. If someone had a gun up to my head saying "read literally all of GL before you touch Omega Men," I'd consider taking the bullet. I barely even keep up with Sinestro.
>>78134616

>>78134414
I love this page. In-universe news reports and opinion pieces are usually great stuff.
>>78134537
>even Norman Osborn thinks Bullseye is a sick piece of shit
This is what we call 'standards'.
>>78133577
I chose to believe that Osborn attempted to do have it be a Spider-Man toy, but got shut down.
>>78134639
He's in Germany, they tend to get comics a bit later if they don't just pirate them, I think, I dunno how international digital works over there
>>78134681
Still topical.
>>78134702
that's an entrance
>>78134715
Steel spider. Man.
>>78134649
A Native cape? Wow. There's like what, four of those ever in total?
Does Dawnstar count?
>>78134595
Johns tweeted for people to follow and buy Kings work.(Even the Marvels)
>>78134758
>>78134751
I think Dawny should count
apparently the new Red Wolf book is not good
>>78134751
I'd say so. Wait, are we including X-Men as capes?
>>78134779
all hail our gracious Cereal Lord
>>78134758
Never become a superhero with acne.
It makes you easy to recognize.
>>78134751
There's the guy Mahvel's relaunching that's basically a reminder to read Scalped instead of his actual book. Red Wolf?
A handful of folks from Jonah Hex lore, too. Eagle's part of Cap's crew, I think out of the big wave of Cap-related C-listers from the mid-90s. Jack and him and...American Beauty?
>>78134809
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sepulchre_%28comics%29
>>78134781
Oh Normie.
>>78134841
>Sepulchre participates in a job interview for a babysitter job with Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, but gets increasingly frustrated with the apparent mispronounciation of her name, repeatedly telling Jones and Cage off and re-spelling her name over and over, which results in her eventual rejection.
THANKS BENDIS
>>78134781
Red Wolf's a little bit cringey. Not a good place for the book to start off in.
>>78134871
lol
>>78134779
W-why would he suddenly tell us he talked to King?New book when Omega Men is cancelled when
>>78134893
>>78134882
I'm betting on it being the first one to get the axe/fewest issues in all
>>78134781
I haven't read the book myself, but I did see some /co/mrade the other day lamenting the fact one of the few books written by a far-right conservative isn't doing well.
>>78134799
Sure. They do try to do typical cape stuff.
>>78134781
So off the top of my head....
>Dawnstar
>Dani Moonstar
>Equinox
>American Eagle
>... Apache Chief(I know, I know.)
That's fucking sad.
Thanks OP.
Any chance of New Thunderbolts in the far future? Really interested in seeing Genis' run on the team.
>>78134930
maybe eventually, we have a lot else on the docket (getting back to LOSH)
>>78134986

>>78135045
Oh, right, that's where I remembered the Andrea Strucker Vintage Leather Collection thing from.
>select milkshake
>BOBA IS NOT MILKSHAKE AAAARGH
>>78135062
and here's Karla being Karla
>>78135045
His encounter with the green goblin later on is most enjoyable
>>78135045If I recall, their relationship is only "incestuous" in implication, right? In reality they're just really good siblings?
>>78134986
>>78135009
Again, even Norman Osborn is telling him to knock this insanity off. That's pretty fucked when the Green Goblin is concerned for your health.
Though I'm fairly certain he's jealous of not thinking up the walking iron maiden first.
>>78135091
shhhhhh, don't spoil anything
>>78135082
mmmm boba
>>78135103
They are in love Steve accept it
>>78135103
I'm not sure but I think they're pretty incestuous
>>78135062
>in many ways
Incest for the wincest!
>>78134923
Man of Bats, that guy with the axe in Lemire's Green Arrow... Owlwoman from the Global Guardians, probably a couple more who were in three issues and died in a crossover event.

we need Lemire's Magus back, I miss that troll
>>78134923

Forge is Cheyenne, I believe
>>78135305

I'm so sad Marvel poached Sorrentino. It wouldn't sting so much if he wasn't drawing Bendis shit.
>>78135286
This shit is tense.
>>78135384
>>78135398
It moves along, too
>>78135417
how are you owls tonight?
>>78135440

>>78135440
Pretty good.
Still reeling from Jack Frost 2

Good. This is the first Thunderbolts run I read, still my favorite.

I got no fucking sleep last night even after not playing ADOM
:(

I don't think ever went out and said "Hey they're fucking!" but they were obviously trying to make readers uncomfortable. Kind of like how they never went out and said that Andreas got molested/raped by the Purple Man.
>>78135602
>>78135608
is there anything the Purple Man won't molest?
>>78134380
Holy shit, I forgot about this.
>>78135440
Pretty good. Re-watched Hellboy II today.
>>78135608
They don't say Purple Man rapes everyone he comes across, but realistically, it's probably like 90% of anybody remotely fuckable.
>>78135643
I finally got some no-tracking-number stuff I got from ebay, that's always a relief
>>78135621
>>78135643
I remember first reading this, and finding this was a really good moment.
>>78135664
So...I thought Karla was physically tougher than this? Maybe only if she's not surprised?
>>78135664
That one time I got something from Europe off the /toy/ BST and it had zero tracking, that was stressful. I know what the parcelfarce is capable of.
>>78135686
....son, dat quite the ass
>>78135273
Forge is interesting in that his skills as an inventor go against Magical Indian stereotype...then they went and gave him a subplot about being a shaman anyway.
>>78135686

>>78135711
Crop that and post it for the next butt thread
>>78135716

ugh

OW. This both funny and hard to look at.
>>78135744
THOOOM!
>>78135805
no seat belt
>>78135852
It's funny, because it's a nice ass at normal scale, but it's a Hank Hill microbooty on Venom by Deodato.
>>78135889
so do we want the upcoming non-Ellis one-shots, or no?
>>78135889
aw shit
>>78135903
more ass
and ridic boots
>>78135621
Even though people call Dr. Light Dr. Rape, Purple Man is way way rapier.
>>78135716
>Native American character
>has shamanic powers or is "one with nature"
Okay, this need to fucking stop.
The worst part is that they never do any research into any native religions. Most people seem to think it's all the same thing across the board.
>>78135938
Purple Man is definitely Mr. Rape
>>78135938
The difference is, Light stuck his dick into an unarmed civilian on-panel. There's room for deniability on most of Purple Man's shenanigans even though realistically there isn't.
>>78136016

>>78134681
Native Man, no, don't do it! D:
>>78133654
Is the moonstone physically located in her neck?
>>78135992
Can someone please tell me the point of that subplot.
So Dr. Light raped Sue Dibny. ... And? We don't get to explore her feelings on the matter(and she's dead so we won't ever see that story), and it contributes nothing to the overall plot of the book.
So what was the point of that?
>>78136154
To drive members of the League to magically lobotomize Dr. Light. It doesn't get any deeper than that....
>>78136154
It set up the mindwipe stuff, I guess, but it didn't have to be rape for that to happen
>>78136154
I'm not Brad.

Not OP (obviously) but I've been considering storytiming Genis's run in general.
So far, I've got his miniseries, both PAD volumes, that one horrible issue of Avengers Unplugged where Monica gives him the title of Captain Marvel, New Thunderbolts, Avengers Forever, and his first appearance in Silver Surfer. Any other stories worth storytiming with him?
