>there could've been episodes where they go on field trips to animation headquarters and see all the big shot, successful cartoon characters
>there could've been some more comedic variety because it aired later at night on adult swim
>the remedial school taught basic concepts that cartoon characters should follow and know like slapstick and anvil dropping
>we could've had charmingly awkward adult swim animation or the same great animation we have with gumball right now
I like the show the way it turned out, don't get me wrong, but I love the concept just as much, if not even more.
Not exactly a what could've been, but:
>Doug Tennapel was disappointed with how the Catscratch cartoon turned out and wished he changed things about it
>>78085586

Fucking kill me, that actually used to be a TV show.
I can't believe shit like FRED and Annoying Orange got shows on TV instead of other things that deserve a spot for being great.

>On a dare, Antonucci then decided that he would try producing a children's animated series of his own. While designing a commercial, he ended up drawing three characters that he felt particularly pleased with. Growing excited over their potential, he named them Ed, Edd, and Eddy and spent the following months developing a show around them. He faxed a one-page concept sheet to Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon in 1996. Both studios quickly responded, Cartoon Network in only 20 minutes, and were enthusiastic and wanted to see more; they each demanded creative control, however, and Antonucci refused.

>After Cartoon Network agreed to let Antonucci have control of the show, conversations between Antonucci and the studio continued.

Imagine if Nick decided to let Antonucci control his show first, and EEnE becoming a Nicktoon

I love how Nick constantly misses opportunities and spills their spaghetti, even today.
Remember when they denied Adventure Time's pilot for a nicktoon TWICE, and Cartoon Network picked it up, and ended up making a ton of money off of it?
They are the kings of wasted potential.

The Game of Thrones had decapitations on screen and actual uncensored titties.
That's some flawed logic from HBO.
Well, at least AMC was pretty much saved by The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad. It used to just be a movie rerun channel, correct me if I'm mistaken.
>>
Gumball still sort of looks like the old concept of a school filled with unsuccessful cartoon characters.

The mix of 2D, 3D, claymation, paper drawn, and muppets all shows that it is a collection of leftover characters living in the same place.
>>
>>78086821
Yes. Mad Men was AMC's first 'real show' but MM, BrBa, TWD and Better Call Saul are the only shows worth watching. It's their deal with Netflix that funds all their schlock like "Low Winter Sun" and "Hell on Wheels". They forced the MM showrunner to split the final season in two to milk award nominations and the whole thing ended up being really clunky.
