How do you think she came into being /co/? My guess is that she's a modified clone of her dad or something. Also where the heck is the plotline going?

Aaron no one likes your comic.

Go back to claiming you invented Rule 63 fanart. Go on now. Scat.

Haha. Let's talk about the next LICD arc next, or maybe the next SYAC.

Diaz is poison.

I dono, I've never seen Max Max so I've got no frame of reference. I do find it kinda weird that the story played up how big of a deal it was that she was going full-prosthetic and then her new body didn't look much different from the old one. I mean I guess the transition might have been dangerous, but she's not going to have to suffer body horror or anything. I thought she was gonna come out looking like the cyborg from Metropolis or something.

LITERALLY fucking nowhere.

We're 56 pages and FIVE AND A HALF YEARS into the Dark Science arc and he's only JUST NOW starting to introduce fundamental elements of the plot.

Maybe in another 20 years we'll actually get to a nice climax.

... or maybe he'll just fucking end it in the next five pages with some out-of-fucking-nowhere deus ex machina like he did with the Hob arc.

The creator decided to give the main character enlarged robot boobs, so I like this comic. I don't think there's a plot though.

It's Dark Science. It's the only comic I could find that really embraces transhumanism (although admittedly I wasn't looking very hard), so that's what drew me to it.
>>
>>78086544
What I basically meant was the time she cut her hair fully. not only lead to absolutely nothing like you mentioned, but JUST happens that the moment that happened it was just days after the newer Mad Max came out.

As usually, Diaz just wanted to implement the design because he liked it, but since this is Diaz we are talking about, he can't just admit it was personal fulfilment like a normal human being but rather become really defensive and pretentious, giving a big reasoning WHY he did this, only to change it because by then, he had another thing he watched or learned that found way cooler.

Sometimes is fine if you sneak in something just cause you liked it when seeing something else. But the least you can do is be humble about it

What?
>>

The idea that people express themselves through their prostheses isn't a new one - people like Aimee Mullins talk all the time about how they have morphological freedom due to being able to change parts of their body to be anything they desire. Hugh Herr talks about how we 'embed our humanity' into the prostheses we build and that something isn't 'less than human' just because it's made of silicon and metal as opposed to flesh and bone.

It's one of the reason the prosthetic world is starting to get a surge in after-market decorations - people feel like freaks if they just have a metal stump, but if you make it look pretty they start to feel badass instead. What he's saying might seem like mumbo jumbo if you don't follow the prosthetics world (and it is embellished abit more than it needs to be), but he isn't saying anything unreasonable.

Diaz is a blessing in that he's an entertaining little man with feelings that bruise more easily than a banana, and his fetishes seem to line up perfectly with mine.

Shame he doesn't just make a career switch to drawing "empowering" softcore cyborg porn and convince himself he's being a feminist in the process.

>What he's saying might seem like mumbo jumbo if you don't follow the prosthetics world (and it is embellished abit more than it needs to be), but he isn't saying anything unreasonable.

You need to read it in the context of >>78086448

Diaz has a long history of sexualizing Kim (side boob, ass shots, fan service poses) while he also has a long history of SJW whining about "women in comics." He resolves this contradiction by claiming this HIS work is "empowering" and "giving his character sexual agency."

He's the world's biggest hypocrite and the amputee stuff is just another example of him spinning his sex fetish art as something more high-minded.
>>
>>78087123
Maybe somebody will build him brain implants that give him thicker skin and more resilience to critique.

>>78087062
The name is stranger than the concept. Basically, transhumanism is when you believe that upgrading yourself through tech isn't a bad thing. Dark Science is the only comic I've encountered that doesn't use the retarded 'cybernetics steal your soul' trope, or any of the other luddite garbage that plagues pop culture.

My guess is that she's actually a self-insert and that he's a closet trans. I don't know anything about him, but the character is sexualized in ways that seems less like fan-service and more like 'look at how awesome I am'. Especially considering that the character doesn't really show sexual attraction to anyone else. In that sense, it could be a display of sexual agency - his. It would also explain why he gets so upset about it when poked, and why he doesn't consider it hypocritical.
>>
>>78087303
>shaved pussy
This part makes me laugh the hardest because the west's obsession with removing pubic hair is a sore point with radfems and they like to claim it's a sort of obsession with youth and indicator of some kind of cultural pedophilia.
>>
>>78085268
She's probably a biorobot, replicant style. Aaron claims his comic isn't cyberpunk but this is the oldest trick in the cyberpunk book. Blade Runner game and story it's based on +implied in the movie, also in another Philip Dick's story "Imposter", Metal Gear Solid (and 2), Final Fantasy VII, Deus Ex, Snatcher (except not), Synners book, I could go on and on.

Tbh I'm still mad because Diaz seems to love everything related to cyberpunk but misses the point, cyberpunk and transhumanism are OPPOSITES - cyberpunk means that technology alone won't change humanity. In Matrix, Agent Smith describes that robots first tried to build an utopian virtual world for humans before settling on simulation of 1999, but it didn't work - that's it, that's the "singularity", and it's explicitly denied. He just likes cyberpunk stuff in a shallow way for the cool cyborgs, but doesn't understand the message of it.

What is Dark Science about?

I literally have no idea and I followed it for the longest time. Whenever I ask /co/ I get ignored, like what I ask /v/ about Dark Souls' lore I get told 'get gud'
>>
>>78086729
In half of these she's pose in a compromising way or half naked. Sure, some of them are pretty innocent and this pic is kinda reaching too far sometimes, but big chunk of it is right.
Also, all of those are pre-Dark Science and this is truly when Diaz started inserting his fetishes everywhere.
>>
>>78087610
It's the story of a cyborg girl who upgrades herself, fights off ayylmaos (this part happens before Dark Science though) and tries to learn about her dad.
>>
>>78087345

Not sure she's a self-insert.

He just made his own waifu because he couldn't find one he liked, and pulled a career out of drawing her. He's so fear-riddled and subconsciously convinced of his own inferiority that I think Kim is the idealized strong and confident partner that he created to latch on to.
>>
>>78086499
The first half is a clusterfuck, but the second half's pretty coherent
>>
>>78087610

We just don't know.

Honestly, read it and make your own interpretation. It won't take very long, because Diaz is turbo-lazy.

He did, but Yuko Ota is already married.
>>

>>78087770

>>78087879
You should be able to find it atchived on kissmanga or a similar site. My advice would be to quit once it reboots and the protagonist starts fighting vampires but that's just me.

Regardless Transhumanism is an ever present theme in the series and made me question who is more human? The man with a normal body but a harddrive for a brain? Or the woman with a mechanical body but an organic brain.

My answer is: both are equally human.
>>
>>78088034
Well that's the thing - many stories don't really embrace transhumanism so much as they question it. Something like GITS where Major has an existential crisis, or something like Deus Ex where Jensen hates what he's become really bother me, because I'm not interested in seeing how things can go wrong.

I want to see characters like Kim or Sarif that get excited about the prospect of enhancement. A story where it's taken for granted that augmentation is a good thing. There are so few stories that dive into the positive aspect and it's maddening. That's why I like Dark Science despite its flaws.
>>
>>78088234
Alita/Gally is a full body cyborg who is entirely comfortable with who, and what she is. This is helped somewhat by the amnesia she starts the series with.

This is a dark postapocalyptic work but it doesn't treat transhuman technologies as evil, just something that exists they can be used or misused, thought has been put into this word.

Dark Science is an incoherent mess of exvuse plots, poorly jnderstood philospphy and waifuism. I mean fine if you like it, I just wish for your sake diaz understood what "work ethic" meant when it comes to his thinly veiled mastubatory fantasies.

Try the Eclipse Phase source books while you're at it they're free.
