Also, obvious bait.

Idk it was complete shit. They false flagged like it was a Bucky film then completely abandoned his plot for MUH TWIST setup for AoS.

Don't forget Cap drops his one of a kind shield in the big ass man made lake and then magically gets it back.
>>
OP being a shithead asides, did anyone else here kind of have issues with the whole HYDRA twist in Cap 2?

I just felt like its kinda ruined the whole moral ambiguity aspect of SHEILD (and the US in general) by just saying literally everything was HYDRA's fault all along.

Hey, it became meme-like. No one's to blame, except maybe the social pressures that compel people to spout random bullshit about what little they remember about the movie in some vain attempt to get other people to say "I understood that reference." Hipsters exist for a reason, y'know.

Not really, all those SHIELD agents who turned HYDRA were still American citizens and part of the government. It's not like HYDRA brainwashed all of them to join the organization, they did it out of their own free will because they were shit humans.

HYDRA infiltrated SHIELD after the war, but it was still SHIELD's fault that they let it grew under their nose for decades.

It wasn't "SHIELD was only bad 'cuz of Hydra, they dindu nuffin', they was a good supranational clandestine paramilitary organization juss tryin' to turn they life around," it was "an unaccountable organization having this much power and control is dangerous to our life and liberty, what would happen if bad guys ever took control of--OH WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT."

Also the fact that the American government hired Nazi scientists, and by that same motion, HYDRA scientists into the upper echelons of their government.

I never feel like Cap is in danger because it's incredibly clear that he's reacting to everything before it happens, because it's scripted.

Can't think of any examples, but for me, the perfect fight scene is a bit more dirty and scrappy than that, but still nowhere near as lazy as the Nolanshit.

Are you implying there weren't Bay-esque explosions and camera movement in the film?

Still doesn't look as good as Bay film, laughingly. Even with it's huge ass budget it still looks a TV show.
>>

>doesn't look as good as a Bay film

His movies look like complete shit. It's like I'm watching a 3-hour Victoria's Secret commercial, he just slaps 300 filters on and calls it a day.

It's like he never stopped directing music videos, and now with shit like Pain & Gain he's started to raid Tony Scott's old playbook of tricks and fucking all of them up too, so I guess that's something.
>>
>>78052255
>Are you implying there weren't Bay-esque explosions and camera movement in the film?
There absolute was not anything of the sort. And if you're going to argue that there was, there are only two conceivable reasons why:

1- You're trolling. Doing a very poor job at it, too.
2- You're blind.

>His movies look like complete shit. It's like I'm watching a 3-hour Victoria's Secret commercial, he just slaps 300 filters on and calls it a day.

And that's when you can actually make out what is happening, during the 15 minutes of his movies where the screen isn't filled with an incoherent mess of grey gears, dirt and shaky cam.

It structured itself like a thriller/conspiracy movie, but everything was so fucking obvious. The reveal that Hydra was behind everything was just so... blah, basically dumped on us in dialogue. It was basically "Hey, you know every bad thing that ever happened? Well it turns out it was Hydra. And Hydra is like, everywhere. Or something". The best part of the reveal was Computer Brain Zola, and even he self-destructed before anything cool happened with him. The rest was just generic, mindless thriller action, from the fights, to Hydra's vague "kill everyone we don't like with some kind of homing missile" doomsday plan, to the "just put the magic disk into the slot and fix everything" solution. The red herring of Fury's death was so pathetically transparent it was an insult to everyone's intelligence, although there were a number of people in my theater (for the post part, a large herd of black women) who were loudly shocked and appalled that they killed Nick Fury. For a movie that receives its acclaim for being smart, it is tragically dumb.

The best thing about it was that quips were at a minimum, and Cap finally got all the good action scenes he deserved in Avengers.

>It structured itself like a thriller/conspiracy movie
Maybe.... you know, because it IS a thriller/conspiracy movie?

>but everything was so fucking obvious.
You knew exactly how the plot was going to play out from the beginning? I didn't realize you could see the future. 'Cause while the latter half of the movie is more of a traditional action movie, the first half certainly is not and does an excellent job at showing super spy espianage stuff.

>The reveal that Hydra was behind everything was just so... blah
Opinions art fact now?

>basically dumped on us in dialogue. It was basically "Hey, you know every bad thing that ever happened? Well it turns out it was Hydra. And Hydra is like, everywhere. Or something".
Yeah, being reductionist is fun, I know. But how would you prefer the reveal be made? Having it done in the brain of Arnim Zola tied in perfectly with the super spy tone and was a fun nod to the comics.

>and even he self-destructed before anything cool happened with him.
...what did you want to happen?

>The red herring of Fury's death was so pathetically transparent it was an insult to everyone's intelligence, although there were a number of people in my theater (for the post part, a large herd of black women) who were loudly shocked and appalled that they killed Nick Fury.
I'm sorry Marvel hurt your sensative ego.

Additionally, it sounds like you had a shitty crowd. That's not the movies fault.

I like how this post doesn't talk about the cinematography at all.
And before you say anything, I hate his films. Yes his directing style is formulaic. But it still looks better than Marvel films.

This is some of the worst fucking defense. You ASKED me to justify my opinion, then get mad at me for doing so. This is why this place is cancer.

>Maybe.... you know, because it IS a thriller/conspiracy movie?
Except it fucking fails spectacularly. It's boring and predictable. It builds its stakes by telling us things rather than showing us things.

>You knew exactly how the plot was going to play out from the beginning? I didn't realize you could see the future.
No, you dumb fuck. That's what I mean when I say the movie is "predictable". Every time there was a set-up, it was pretty easy to guess the end game. That's not inherently a bad thing, unless you're trying to be an espionage flick (see point #1)

>But how would you prefer the reveal be made?
Better than they did. It was the kind of afterthought plot-twist that a 13-year-old would come up with. They basically just took every vaguely bad thing that happened in the MCU, implied or otherwise, scraped them into a pile and put Hydra's name on it. Pretty shallow, really. I understand espionage is supposed to involve mystery, but the fact that there was actually nothing to connect Hydra to all this shit besides the movie just telling us to take its word for it makes it seem like a top-tier ass-pull.

>...what did you want to happen?
Aside from Bucky (who had no memory), Zola was the biggest link between present and past, which was an aspect of the movie that was painfully underused. He was rammed into the movie for 15 minutes as lame exposition. It was the only scene I was excited for, because it was the only part of the movie that had any roots, and they brushed it under the carpet. I at least wanted him to be in a robot body and have a fight scene.

You can't refute my point, so you resort to insults. The fact that the movie expected anyone but a retard to believe Fury's death, and then endure a 15 minute slog while all the characters moped about it was dumb. Just like the whole movie.
>>
>>78053843
I love how you continue to bitch and moan about how the movies apparently predictable or childish, ect. Yet you can't, even once, give an alternative on how a scene should have played out. Just "it should have been DIFFERENT!"

You have no argument. You're just whining for the sake of whining.
>>
>>78053968
>I don't like this movie
>"But why?"
>Here is why.
>"BAWWWWW! But you didn't detail exactly how they should have fixed it! Quit complaining."

You will do anything to deflect criticisms without having to actually face them, won't you? Just because this shit is good enough for you doesn't mean I have to explain how to make it better. That's the fucking joy of seeing a good movie, is having the writers entangle you in something you never would have though up yourself. They get paid millions for that shit. All I know is that I paid $11.75 for a movie that made me want to take a nap.
>>
>>78054143
>doesn't mean I have to explain how to make it better.
It actually does. You're the one trying to prove to the rest of the board that the movie is shit. Support your arguments. You can't just complain without any ideas on how to resolve those issues. Otherwise, you're no better than the run of the mills tumblerina, SJW, armchair activists, etc.

Its like I said before, you're just bitching for the sake of bitching.

I know this is a trolls trolling trolls thread, but I really do wish other Marvel movies were more like this.

The first Iron Man and Incredible Hulk were similar, in that they took themselves seriously and had a respect for the source material. Most of the rest of the movies seem to be made with the idea "OK this source material is totally retarded, now how can we make a good movie out of it?"

I also want to give credit to Avengers for managing to be fun and colorful with a deep love of the characters but there was a little too much "wink wink nudge nudge" humor from Joss which proceeded to get out of control in subsequent movies. I remember how utterly disappointed with Age of Ultron I was after that fantastic trailer.

Say what you want about Man of Steel but at least it took itself seriously and didn't act like it was being adapted from schlock. Winter Soldier and Iron Man are such perfect comic movies because they know when to be a little jokey and when to be serious.

>Forced drama
Every drama is forced if you don't care enough
>Pretentious
How so?
>Useless Falcon and also no "junkie pimp" backstory
Why does Falcon have to be useful anyway? He's an ally and a friend to Steve and that's what matters most. But yeah as goofy as it is, I'd like the pimp back story.
>Bad adaptation from the comic
If you haven't guessed by now; paper to film never works. Things have to change, it's a completely different angle.
>Plot ripped off from Bourney Identity and Three Days of Condor
Nothing bad about that.
>MUH MURICA
It is Captain /America/ after all.
>Weak Villain, Zemo should have been there or at least someone with great potential.
I think the villain was just a way to show how out of place Steve is in this age, which is does well.
>MUH GR8 FRIEN
Their friendship worked in The First Avenger so it doesn't exactly feel out of place. I quite like the Bucky Drama his stand alone movies are taking an interest in.

I'm just happy to see that more people are starting to admire Captain since he was the butt of the Joke in Avengers Assembles.

whatever the fuck that means. "Trust no one" is forced, in a spy-themed thriller about decades-old conspiracy? lol
>pretentious
It's a movie about a guy dressed in American flag punching fascists, what the fuck did you even expect?
>Black guy doesn't have stereotypical black guy backstory
good fucking riddance,
>Bad adaptation from the comic
It's not an adaptation, it's an original story taking some elements from original. Think Batman Very Superman versus The Dark Knight Returns.
>Plot ripped off from Bourne Identity
... You mean the trained killer thing? Because that was in the comic. Decide, you want a direct adaptation or purely original stuff?
>MUH MURICA
Literally wasn't there, Shield is transnational in the movie, and so is Hydra's plan. Majority of the story takes place in America but it isn't particularly patriotic.
>Weak Villain
Well, it's a spy movie so they had to keep him as a twist, so they didn't have that much time to develop him, plus thematically the "real enemy is fascism" and all that crap. And Crossbones as main dude's enforcer was pretty good.
>MUH GR8 FRIEND
Again, Bucky and Steve are best friends in the comics. You can't complain about bad adaptation and in the same post complain about stuff that's in the comic.

So nice that noone cares about that because both critics and viewers loved it, and it made 7 times it's budget in box office, and was such a resounding success that Whedon was fired and Russos will be directing next Avengers movie.
