Here in Hungary they called him as Wolverine in the comics for a decade, but the movie localization translated him simply to Wolf. Probably because the hungarian translation for wolverine is a more complex word (Rozsomák) that sounds less threatening, and also because a wolverine is not an indigenous animal to our country and no one really has a damn clue as to what it is. Wolves are more well known, even if only from museums and folklore since we hunted them to extinction in our mountains.
Also the early comics sometimes went for more humorous translations, possibly because we have a tradition of some cartoons getting translated scripts with nonstop rhyming (Flintstones was incredibly popular for that). Think of it as if Marvel Comics were written by Dr. Seuss.
So Absorbing Man was translated "Benyelő Benő", roughly means Absorbin' Abe if you keep up the alliteration, but the hungarian one adds an extra spice in that both words start and end with the same sound (and, of course, Benő is for Ben, I'm only using Abe to keep up the alliteration). It is also strangle appropriate given that a lot of comic characters have alliterating names, including Crusher Creel himself.
However this latter was quickly dropped in the comics, so was then translated to "Szivacsember", which literally means Spongeman. But it only sounds as silly as Absorbing Man does, especially next to Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, Iceman, etc.

It was called "Frédi és Béni a két kőkorszaki szaki", which in English could be something like Freddy and Barney (or Fred and Ben) the two stone-age sage. Note that the the title itself uses multiple rhymes, alliterations, and repeating words with different meanings, and that's just in the title. The show itself was like that for every single sentence and interaction.
I really don't know how else to describe it, the closest I've heard in English was in some Dr. Seuss poems. It was really over the top, but it made perfect sense (not just rhyming for the sake of rhyming, everything went together fluidly). It was pretty ingenious.

In Latin America, both Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and SatAM, Tails went by the name of Colitas (translates to "Little Tails") and due to how Spanish tends to use gender connotations to words (The word Colitas sounding like a very feminine connotation) they assumed tails was a girl and went with it. Even sharing the same voice as the LA ver. of Tweety bird (Known as Piolín in LA). Meanwhile Eggman was known from AoSth to underground as Mostachon (A funny way to say to someone with a huge mustache).
In Sonic X they returned Tails to a boy but translated everyone's names except Sonic and, if I recall correctly, Big the Cat:

I watched bits of both movie dubs some time ago. It was a trip, though I couldn't bear going though either in one sitting.
The first one's indescribably bad but also funny. It feels like those shitty-ass voiceovers you'd find on bootleg video tapes, with just a few guys doing the entire thing and not giving a damn about lip-sync. Except the voice actors here were all professional talents and this was an official release. A shame they butchered it so much, because the dialogue was real clever in *some* parts.

in France disney don't use those adjective names, "tangled" was called "Rapunzel", and "Frozen" was "La reine des neiges".
However shit like Wreck it Ralf was changed to "les mondes de Ralf" (Ralf's worlds), the incredible were called "les indestructibles" and the upcoming "the good dinosaur" will be called "le voyage d'Arlo" because... fuck you that's why.

Hungary here, and none. There's been a lot of decent cartoon dubs as of late, but none stand out for me, they all have their annoying problems. Granted there's a lot of shit I haven't bothered to watch.
Bad ones are another story. From the more recent dubs, those of Gumball, SU and Ben10 Omniverse make these shows pretty damn unwatchable.
