Samurai Jack is art. I think the first episode gets overlooked a lot. It's pacing, music, and the very first fight with Aku was beautifully done. Remember when Aku first assaulted japan and you hear those gongs hitting when he just laughs at the archer assault? One of the first of many memorable moments in my book

I love the how the first 1/3 is essentially just Jack travelling through a barren wasteland, the howling wind coupled with the beckoning calls of the viking hero making it incredibly ominious and building up tension to the 2/3 where he navigates the volcano's traps

I hope we get more moments where Aku tricks Jack by shapeshifting into a woman. Not really to get off on it, but because I enjoy Aku trolling Jack to complete paranoia and insanity.

Not that the show needs anime style blood jets, but half the time he's fighting aliens and mutants. They could have green blood or some shit.

Although Akus plans to kill jack usually fail, aku usually outsmarts jack and generally succeeds in his goals making him more threatening to the audience.

I liked the show because it was about a Samurai fucking shit up. The Samurai fad was big and I loved that shit..
Now that I go back to it, I guess I like it now because it's a show that's artsy without feeling like it's being pretentious. The show feels genuine enough that you look at it and say "Hey, I guess the creators really liked X thing and are paying homage and having fun with it." The funny moments, the grandiose moments, the emotional moments never felt forced. Add to that both a hero and a villain that are quintessential (Sword Wielding Hero vs Evil Overlord), yet both are endearing enough to carry the show.

I remember watching that episode when it first aired. It was fucking terrifying. Jack running from Aku, who was going all at it. Jack getting caught in a zombie horde and having to fight them all. Finally, Aku growing to almost twice Jack's height and going apeshit with the sword.

So I was reading through the wiki for some reason about Aku and his origins and I noticed that it mentions that Jack's father fought Aku back when he was a spiky forest or evil. Not only that, but he fought it while wearing "magical armour". I was just thinking that it would make sense that Jack and his father would have a similar silhouette and I read something about Jack's father being alive in the care of the elder gods. So either Jack has armour now for some reason, possibly once belonging to his father or we're about to see some family bonding. Or both.

The one episode that really stood out for me was the one about a family he was invited in by. I think the little girl was normal but the rest were dead? When things didn't go orderly they started convulsing. Shit really freaked me out as a kid.

I really don't know how to describe why Samurai Jack is good.
They aren't extremely similar, but I love Samurai Jack in the same way that I love Hellboy.
Both the art and writing in each are simple yet striking.
