it should be a two parter.

In the first episode, he totally overpowers the Rebels and captures Ezra and Chopper

in the second episode, he holds off the Rebels attacks with ease. It looks like he's about to make a clean get away when Ezra and Chopper break out, attack Fett, and he totally gets jobbed in a humiliating fashion.

You know what?

I'm glad that the new movies aren't overstuffed with AAA movie stars like the prequels were.
>>

All of them were relatively unknown at the time though.

Lee and Jackson are the only real standouts, which is no more than Guiness and Cushing in ANH alone.

>>
>>77991040
I have come to hate that model ship.

I blame the Rogue Squadron game.
>>
>>77991202
McDiarmid is in no way a AAA, and Neeson wasnt that big at the time of TPM at all.

The Prequels casted relative unknowns, much like the OT, and the ST.
>>
>>77991015
It really shouldn't surprise me as much as it does that people have been speculating "Who Kylo Ren is" under the mask, when we've known for months, and the actor's identity was never hidden, but it kind of still does. People have a powerful desire to form headcanons and speculate, even when the truth is right in front of them.
>>
>>77991081
Yeah, but I honestly think that Driver could be one of the best actors of the new cast, including the veteran actors.
>>
>>77991081

>overstuffed with AAA movie stars like the prequels were

I'm counting Liam Neeson, Christopher Lee, Samuel Jackson, and MAYBE Ewan McGregor. And Ewan was still fairly fresh when he was cast.

>>77991202

McDiarmid's career is full of stage roles, for the most part. His film roles are all minor except for Sheev.

>>
>>77991394

Plagueis isn't a prequel character. He's a pre-prequel character. Even Legends had him die during the events of Episode I. Who knows when the new canon killed him off?

The thing that nobody seems to remember is that PLAGUEIS IS DEAD. You don't come back from that in Star Wars. You can come back from ALMOST dead, like Maul, or Vader, but Sheev killed Plagueis and he would have made damn sure Plagueis was dead.

You have been given control over Disney's new "Revised Edition" of the Prequels. You may make any change you want, but must follow the following criteria:

>It must follow the same general outline of the original movies, so as to not clash with canon.
>Jar Jar stays.
>You need at least ONE new original character that will sell lots of toys.

What changes do you make?

>“We tried to not think about that as much as possible. And not try to think of him as being bad, or evil, or a villain. Something that was more three-dimensional. He’s more dangerous and unpredictable, and morally justified in doing what he thinks is right.”

I'm legit mad. Or, since it's settled down to a dull ache, I suppose bitter might be a better word. I had hope for the nuEU, and so far it's all been pandering shit, with a few mildly interesting bits (such as Imperial Sherlock, and Vader being badass). And I can't get over how generic Rebels is. I actually miss George. That's how dire this is. The Force Awakens trailer has not hyped me. I am unhyped.
>>
>>77991510

Phantom Menace: Obi-Wan goes into town, Qui-Gon stays with the ship and radios in frequently. This focuses the overall movie on Obi-Wan, as it should, and does a better job setting up Obi-Wan's relationship with Anakin and setting up Obi-Wan as the deuteragonist of the overall saga. Qui-Gon still gets his Chosen One bits in over the comlink.

Attack of the Clones: Cut parts of the arena battle to tighten it up. It's too fucking long.

Revenge of the Sith: It's good as-is.
>>
>>77991981

I've missed George since Rebels began. He's great when he's got a good team to help him sort the good ideas from the bad, and he has this delightfully inventive sense of ADVENTURE to everything he does.

Under Disney, I feel like we're losing that.
>>
>>77991887
Wouldn't be surprised. I mean, Ford, Fisher, -and- Hamil -DID- put up a fight to ad-lib a good deal of dialogue because they didn't like how Jorge wrote it all clunky.
>>
>>77991981
You know.

Your short, shit and shallow sex life.
>>
>>77992067

I will add that Dave is certainly trying very hard to keep it. Rebels started weak but has become a very respectable effort.

It still feels like Disney is just limiting it too much. I hope Bill Wolkoff becomes more of a staple writer and Saul Ruiz becomes more of a staple director, because Brothers of the Broken Horn and Future of the Force were the first time I really felt like Rebels was finally up where it should have been all along. It would be a shame for them to remain occasional treats instead of regulars.

Likewise, I hope Michnovetz gets to write more episodes. He really knows what he's doing.
>>
>>77990722
Make him a notorious badass in-universe who doesn't quite live up to his own hype, but is still an awkward combination of extremely competent and extremely unlucky. Have Sabine fangirl over him because dammit she needs to display emotion at some point. Friendly to any other bounty hunter except IG-88. Very talented, able to go toe-to-toe with any of the Ghost Crew, and able to hunt them easily wherever they go, but nothing flashy. Make him practical, have him fail in plausible foreshadowed ways, and maybe one joke scene of Kanan beating him while blind. It's becoming a tradition at this point.

Everyone seems to demand that Boba become a joke loser now out of spite for 90s Boba. I want them to reconstruct him into a better character.

Agreed with everything you said. Why can't the nuEU grow some balls already. It's okay in places but it feels like flashy fanfiction in most instead of telling stories not weighed down by having to be star warsy (which basically means it has to copy the OT) which is what rebels and most of the comics have been doing. Especially battlefront. And TFA is going to be the biggest offender in terms of nostalgia fan-wanking.

Can we just let go of the OT having to overshadow everything and just tell a good story that's fresh and exciting, hell George would've at least made it fucking original and set it apart. TFA feels like the OTs extra limb rather than the beginning of a new trilogy.
> learn to let go SWfags

Acutally I'm lying maybe a throwaway line to Clone Wars but I don't think it would be necessary. Ahsoka has left by this point and Satine is dead. Both have moved on.
>>
>>77992067
The budget's murdering the show. The Hondo and Sabines ex episodes were so painfully obvious filler. It just put me off the show because it feels like a cheap generic cartoon.

It may be good occasionally but it needs less episodes otherwise season 2 will look weak as shit with all this bad filler and I don't think much of the show as it is.

I like some characters but Kanan is so fucking whiny and inept for a grown man with decent combat skills and experience.I actually like his comic because his personality fits his 14 year old self better and muh clone wars.

Ezra is young so I can tolerate the way he behaves most of the time but he looks intentionally like Aladdin which I can't get over.

I don't know if anyones noticed but the shows animation, in terms of character movement is very exaggerated and cartoony in contrast to tcw. There's no reason for it either if these guys worked on the other show. Sometimes characters will move a certain way or do something that looks unrealistic and cringy. That coupled with the bland art style makes the show seem very immature visually.

I feel embarrassed to watch it. Nowhere near even the standard of quality set in TCW season 1. They need to put more money into this show. They've got enough manchildren drooling over it why not raise the budget!?
>>
>>77993106

on the upside, we still have the original films, Clone Wars, and the old EU. It's pretty much the biggest fictional setting there is, unless you include entire companies universes (such as all DC, and all Marvel).

To my mind, Disney bought the rights, but not the soul. Disney under Star Wars is little more than a reboot. The original and true Star Wars ended when Lucas sold it and stepped away. Not flawless logic or thinking, but it works for me.

It also allows me to leech some enjoyment from the new stuff.

Amen to that. The soul is what I feel they're missing. They've got the aesthetic, the actors, the music but it's missing what made all six movies special along with the EU. Which is to tell exciting stories at #1 priority which is what lucas did, if you focus on the SW aspect too much you lose something, which is why he was the best man for the saga, with fanboys and corporates in charge it's lost that edge. It's about letting your experiences and films you've watched inspire you to tell a story in the SW setting like GL. And the EU writers then expanded that horizon but kept it fresh.

. Sure there was some crazy shit in the old EU but such is the cost of allowing creativity. Without courtship of princess leia the nightsisters wouldn't exist etc. But like you said. There's years of stuff good and bad to go through so I'm not bothered. And I feel optimistic there will be gems to be found in the new EU among the mundane stuff so it's cool.

No, I mean the arm-blade that can block lightsabers.

I'm fine with stormtroopers being a threat now, but the idea of them being able to go against a Jedi hand-to-hand like that is just wtf.

When did Jedi become common enough that this would somehow become standard issue? I thought the Jedi were still really rare in this age, rare enough that stormtroopers would probably try to just overwhelm them with blaster fire instead of trying to fucking duel them.

And I was GLAD when the new canon got rid of all the old lightsaber-immune materials. TCW showed us that electrostaffs can block a lightsaber, but only with the electrified parts; the center part that's not electrified is just as choppable as anything else. That feels RIGHT. The idea that a lightsaber can only be stopped by other energy weapons feels RIGHT.

This just looks dumb. Even if that's supposed to be an arm-mounted electrostaff or something, it looks dumb.

It's amazes me how often people thinking they can improve the prequels demostrate utter blindness to the most basic plot points and themes of a movie literally made for 10-year olds. Like, why Obi-Wan cannot replace Qui-Gon as Anakin's father figure.

>>77994571
I'm not as crazy about that scene as I was when I first saw it. Tarpals' last line delivery sounds off, and it's such a shame that his sacrifice gets wasted by Grievous just getting traded back for Anakin.

Still a badass Gungan, though. Tarpals was what every militiagung should strive to be.
>>
>>77994637
Not the same guy, but why can't he?
>>
>>77994717
>He could have easily replaced Qui-Gon

He couldn't though

The whole point of Obi-Wan's character in Fallout 1 is that he's the doubter who doubts shit and says sarcastic things
>>
>>77994637

Oh, I didn't forget that at all.

My idea was that Obi-Wan would MEET Anakin on Tatooine and, being Obi-Wan, not think much of him, but then Qui-Gon, over the radio, would be like "hang on, wait, go back".

Qui-Gon would guide Obi-Wan through all this shit over the comlink, with Obi-Wan occasionally complaining, reinforcing the master/padawan dynamic already present in the film.

This comes across to Anakin in Obi-Wan's interactions with him, as Obi-Wan keeps answering Anakin's questions with "my master said so" and the like. Despite this, Obi-Wan has some measure of respect for the boy, and this comes across as well, from time to time.

Finally, upon reaching the ship, Anakin meets this mysterious father figure who's been managing the whole Tatooine thing by proxy.

Everything else after that happens as before. The reason we send Obi-Wan in is not to have Obi-Wan replace Qui-Gon as Anakin's father figure: it's to foreshadow both their friendship and their conflict, and to make Obi-Wan the center of the film. As it stands, having Qui-Gon dominate the middle makes it unclear who the protagonist is supposed to be. This fixes that.

It also makes things a bit more tragic on the Qui-Gon front: by limiting their interactions even more, Qui-Gon becomes less real and more ideal in Anakin's life, the father figure he never had and never will. Anakin can project more onto him as a result.
>>
>>77994076
>You're the biggest fucking idiot if you think the prequels are more exciting than a JJ Abrams Star Wars movie.

No. You're an idiot if you're excited for a movie by JJ after his Star Trek reboot. Which was technically competent (save for shitty fight choreography), but very much... average. There was nothing especially terribad by ST standards, but nothing particularly awesome either.
>>
>>77992558
>Everyone seems to demand that Boba become a joke loser now out of spite for 90s Boba.

Awuh?
>>
>>77993711
Reminder that Chuchi is technically George Lucas' daughter.
>>
>>77994796
Because a central part of Obi-Wan's character is how he failed to walk the line between being a mentor and a brother to Anakin. Qui-Gon, on the other hand, immediately and perfectly filled the father-figure role for Anakin, so when he died, it foreshadows Anakin's deep fear of loss that would eventually corrupt him.

The way the Prequels and Anakin are written, Obi-Wan needs to try and fail to fill Qui-Gon's place.
>>
>>77993162
So if he pushes for it, it will be canon canon.
>>
>>77994899
I'm exaggerating. It just feels like so many people actively want him to be a complete fuck up in order to better match his faildeath in ROTJ and/or to bully mandofags. I just want a middle ground between loser and Mary Sue.

>>

>>
>>77995049
Age difference between him and Solo would be through "humans from different planets" shit.
>>
>>77994992

There's gotta be a way, dammit.

I guess a simpler solution would be to have both Jedi go into Mos Espa, on the logic that the Trade Federation wouldn't dare come here and Panaka should be able to hold down the fort on his own.

Then we get Qui-Gon's father figure stuff and Obi-Wan's cold sarcastic stuff all at once, and Obi-Wan gets to stay at the center of the action where he belongs.

Actually, that's probably the best way to do it. Send in both Jedi, leave Panaka with the Queen, and let both Jedi be themselves in Mos Espa.
>>
>>77995049
Boba is ded m8
>>
>>77995088

Morrison is 54 and Ford is 73.

Boba Fett, in the ST, would be about 62 years old.

I think Morrison could play 62 without THAT much difficulty. A little makeup to add about ten years and he's golden.

And for all we know, Han could be older than Boba.

Obi-Wan is doomed to fail Anakin as a master, therefore their relationship cannot be too good from the beginning. I think we have enough people accusing Anakin of being an irredeemable asshole already, imagine what it would be had Obi-Wan been potrayed as a good teacher, and not as a man who decided to train a kid whom he did not trust despite being unqualified as a mentor out of his sense of obligation.

Or because blowing up Yavin wouldn't have destroyed the moon but all the debris would have fucked up the targeting systems. Or because it's a literal range issue with the Death Star moving at full speed and not being in range for the laser to blow up the moon. Or because there was something on Yavin they didn't want to blow up. Or because there may have been a reason the laser couldn't fire for 15 minutes and it was prudent for THEM to be hiding behind the planet. Or they didn't give a shit because the rebels couldn't do anything anyway. Or they wanted to give them time for an evacuation so they could find more rebel bases.

Well, in the OT, he doesn't really do much of anything. In ESB, he proves himself a brilliant hunter, and is perceptive enough to find Luke following him and the stormtroopers in cloud city, but he doesn't excel in any action scenes. In RotJ, he's got those alien dancers charmed, but he fails miserably and dies in the put of carkoon fight.

So for some reason, kids these days only want him to be seen as a bumbling loser with a crippling weakness against blind men.

It's a funny give and take we've got now. Darth Maul and Boba Fett, two characters with more style than substance. Except all of Boba's added substance is a thing of the past. Maul is the new Fett, brought back after falling into a pit and getting a significantly greater development after the movies.

So you can look forward to the next reboot in 40 years when TCW isn't added to the new new canon and Maul remains an edgy karate man who got cut in half by a padawan despite having the high ground.

I don't like the design of the weapon either, though strictly speaking Finn seems to be stormtrooper and the other guy is obviously as well. So similar training would result in similar skill, the only diffrence being the weapons wielded by both parties.

It looks stupid, sure, but if you follow the internal logic of the setting and the plot as far as we know it's right.

I think the dancers are given a stronger motivation than money.

If you fire that beam into a gas giant there's no guarantee it'll explode quickly or efficiently.

People do this far too much in this thread to justify stupid shit.

They don't seem to understand that something can make sense in context and still be a dumb idea.

All the time they spent building and researching it, I feel like they should have known exactly what would happen to a gas giant.
>>
>>77997936
IIRC, in the old books, the Death Star only ever fired on two planets, Alderaan and Despayr, both rocky terrestrial worlds. I don't think they ever managed a successful weapons test on a gas giant.
>>

>Despayr

Heh.
>>
>>77997144

Because a gas giant is so much bigger than a normal planet, that unless the Alderaan shot was at the small faction of full power, it wouldn't have exploded like a bomb - disintegration likely would have taken half a day, enough time for the Rebels to evacuate the moon.

Which is why I said the whole thing looks stupid.

If he does show up I hope it's in his holiday special get up or in his all white proto-armour. Personally I'm hoping to see 4-LOM and Zuckuss, since the EU wipe they haven't done shit

Seriously? Did you forget the part were the movies were terrible, even by movie standards?
You wouldn't even get rid of the cringe-inducing romance segments?
Are you a genuine prequel apologist? Can you even handle this much rhetoric?
>>

Geez, and people wonder why more women don't post here.
>>

Darth Vader is good though. It's just that the EU was better.

What's wrong with a bad guy being a nice person.
The only thing worse than
>Bad guys should be evil
are
>All bad guys should have some sort of sympathetic motivation

Damn it people can't bad guys just be whatever.
>>
>>78000981
We'll probably because nice people by definition don't hunt and kill people for money.

Technically soldiers do if you wanna argue about what they really do, but I don't wan to so lets not and just say that IRL mercenaries could be nice people.

I mean I genuinely don't think it would be a stretch to assume that in real life there's some assassin or something who kills people for money, but who's otherwise perfectly nice and non-violent in everyday interaction.

Most SW guns aren't long enough to be spears anyway, except that sandtrooper rifle I think?
