grats on your find
>>
>>77979912
Bitch, buy those Suicide Squad trades NOW. There's never going to be a SS omnibus because DC couldn't care less about doing that for cult titles. In fact, I'll be amazed if DC even bothers finishing releasing the entire run in trades.

Why is DC so shit at collecting trades?

Marvel has their shit coming out even before they full run is finished and I think their quality is slightly better

The I favor Omnibuses for Marvel better I don't how you all feel about that DC somehow always screws up with their shit look at the Orion collection

I love the Orion run but they ended up putting the back up features on the back of the book instead of putting it in chronologically

>Why is DC so shit at collecting trades?
They're not

>Marvel has their shit coming out even before they full run is finished
It's not good strategy to rush out trades, a lot of people don't buy isinble issue for minis because they can buy the whole mini in a trade as it is. Marvel also has retarded schedules liek with their Epi line where if you're interested in moon Knight for example you need to wait an entire year for a new trade.

> I think their quality is slightly better
Nah, they use shitty paper but the trades are a bit more expensive, despite most of the time having fewer pages.
>>
>>77981748
I don't know but I'm still pissed DC hasn't collected Shade up until Season in Hell. I love that series and some of the stories in the second half like Off the Road USA, Passion Child, and Season in Hell are my favorites and will never be collected.

Honestly I am really enjoying them. Wouldn't recommend them if you already own the majority of the stories being reprinted, but it's boosting my DC collection in a nice way, and they're good quality.
>>
>>77982321
Son, do you not know how DC operates? A couple of years ago they put a first trade out for Suicide Squad then decided to not put out anymore because they didn't like the low number of pre-orders for it. They've done this for a number of titles now. We will be EXTREMELY lucky if DC actually decides to put out the entire Suicide Squad run in trades, let alone an actual fucking omnibus.
>>
>>77982321
if the trades sell well they might do a omnibus when they go OOP

How do you all organise your comics on your shelf?
I used to do Publisher -> Series Name Alphabetical -> Book Name or Chronological
but since I plan on buying some omnibus' in the future, I think it would look weird to have them littered throughout the shelf
>>
>>77985641
I organize my shelf by,
>Publisher
>Character
>Series
I've had to take some libereties eith this because I've yet to invest in a really good shelf yet.

>>77985641
I have to keep my trades, HCs and Deluxe/Omnis split up. So I split them like that, then by Publisher, then rough chronology, with alt universe stuff separate

Was going through a box of random crap in my over packed bedroom closet earlier tonight and came across one of those old comic book character trading cards I used to collect when I was a kid... pretty neat one too, foil and everything!

I've asked this in a recent thread, But any Dredd fans out there have a top three individual Dredd books? Preferably ones that have stand on their own stories or are particularly good? I'm not gonna be in for collecting all the case files but would like to get a few good collections of stories.

Eh, Meredith's writing isn't exactly the greatest or even that good. The book had a really rough start with it contradicting the end of Azzerello's run and Diana acting bipolar for a really shoddy reason. The book kind of has a strength with Diana trying to solve her problems without jumping to fists automatically, it pulled a costume change equals character development without really earning it so I dropped it.

I've heard that a lot, when I picked these up the owner pointed at Chew and said "That one, that's a good one".

I saw the larger editions, but decided to play it safe JUST in case it doesn't live up to expectations. Thankfully, that doesn't seem like it will be the case.

no one is jealous of things because they dislike them. no one who says they dislike HCs buys TPs because they can't afford an extra $2 for a hardcover

they just. dont. like. them. It isn't even a hard concept to grasp. People like different things in life. I don't like hardcovers for the majority of my stuff.

Trade hardcovers by and large are pieces of trash with glued binding. I mean its the truth.

Dredd fan here, pic related. Three good individual Judge Dredd Volumes I would recommend, which can be enjoyed within themselves

1) Origins. This covers the beginning of the Justice Department in flashbacks, between a current plot in the Cursed Earth. And it is a good example of a story by 'the' Dredd artist, Ezquerra.

2) The Pit. This is a gritty police procedural story which shows Dredd reforming an under performing sector house in a slum area of MC1. This is available alone, as well as one of the more recent Case Files collections

3. Block Mania/Apocalypse War is an action comic from the black and white era. This is the bulk of Case Files 5 but it is available in various standalone volumes including a recoloured edition from IDW.
>>
>>78001786
ive never read any dredd but man do i love that judge dredd movie

is robb schneiders character a movie only addition or does that character exist in the dredd world?

i really gotta read some dredd...
>>
>>78002692
>>78001786

also, i guess a better question would be.. is the judge dredd movie an adaptation completely, or is that a story line that exists somewhere in the comics?

>40% employee discount

I should seriously get a part time job at a bookstore or something. Is there a limit on how much you can buy with that discount?
>>
>>78002692

Robb Schneider's character is a movie only thing. There is nobody like that in the comics. For what it's worth I enjoy the Stallone Movie. I believe there were some comics in this universe but I don't know about them. These would be published outside of 2000AD if this is the case. The best Dredd comics are published by 2000AD.

There are at least three comics that are in the continuity of more recent the Karl Urban Film, Ma-Ma, Underbelly and Uprise. The main difference between these comics and the main continuity is that Dredd is about 30 years younger and the look of the uniforms etc is identical to the film.

And then there are the current IDW comics which I don't rate highly enough to collect. They are a mixed bag with some exceptions like Doug Wolk's Mega City 2.

There are a *lot* of Dredd comics but the main 2000AD comics written by John Wagner are the ones which deserve looking at first.
>>
>>78004710
And then there was the DC comics Judge Dredd iteration which nobody really talks about. Like I said, there are a *lot* of Judge Dredd comics.
>>

desu senpai, omnis are only really worth if they're either:
cheaper than all repective tpbs,
considerably larger in page size
or packed with extra content

buying for the cover alone is pure faggotry, you'll end up with an overly heavy book, with possibly crappier binding and gutter loss, that looks the same as the much lighter and easy to handle tpbs.
assuming you actually bought them to read and not exhibit in your manchild collection

the epic collections are cool. i have some of the volumes...

Read this, this will help you a lot

"The Ultimate Collection line collects entire runs of one title, or related titles by one creator. The Complete Epic line collects large crossovers spanning several titles. The Epic Collection line is a numbered collection of sequential issues of one title, sometimes including crossovers from related titles, starting from the beginning of a character and designed to match other collections such as Marvel Omnibus.[1] For instance the Iron Man collection "The Enemy Within" and the Fantastic Four collection "All in the Family" chronologically follow their respective Marvel Omnibus. This collection is not released sequentially as a priority is to fill in periods not covered by previous collections."

Felt good being called "old school" by one of the best illustrators in comics. "Crazy Barry, Little Mo" was Weston's first ever Dredd story back around '88, I was reading 2000AD since about 84/85, though. But I haven't bought it since about 2004, I think.

That is a GREAT Criterion Collection...collection. Would love to pick up Crumb for the Charles Crumb Famous Artists Course Facsimile Entrance Exam but I'm a Limey without a regionless DVD player and certainly can't afford one at this moment in time....

He was a great, great cartoonist, only have NonNonBa but lent it to a friend. He's very trustworthy, I only really lend my stuff out to two people.

It's still in the plastic at the minute, not had time to check it out yet. I've already got/read the normal version so I'm in no rush to be honest, wasn't a massive fan of it either. If it wasn't for the Flash being in it, I probably wouldn't of bought it.
